About the Owner

"From the start of booking to the return of our deposit the owner has been top class. His one concern being that we have everything we need plus giving very helpful advice for trips, eating etc." Trip Advisor 5 star review.

"One more thing – the proprietor, Will Sanderson, is a true gem and the ultimate in hospitality. He very patiently acquainted us with the nearby town, showing us the supermarket, fish store, the better bread store and the not-so-better bread store, the best place to get local wine and the restaurants and night spots. Then, going one step beyond, he stepped in to help us through a medical emergency and assisted us in arranging some emergency flight plans, for which I am most grateful. If you book this villa, consider Will one its assets." Trip Advisor 5 star review

Perfect accomodation in perfect location

  • 5 of 5

The lemon tree house was a perfect choice of accomodation for us. The owner Will was very informative and helpful prior to, during and after our booking. He ensured the house had everything we needed, and gave us good tips on places to visit, and places to eat.

The house is well equipped and well furnished, it was exceptionally clean and comfortable. It's location is perfect to be close to the towns amenities and attractions, but peacefully quiet, to relax and be away from it all.

There are so many bars and restaurants to choose from in Ostuni, and we never had bad service or a poor meal once in the 10 days we were there. We would be more than happy to recommend Ostuni as a beautiful place to stay, and the lemon tree house as wonderful accomodation.

Wonderful Lemon Tree House!

  • 5 of 5

We had a good feeling about this place when we first booked it and we were not disappointed. Will was so friendly and helpful from the start and the place was even more marvellous than we had hoped. We felt very privileged to stay in this choice spot, at the top of the town round the corner from the cathedral. The house was quiet, very comfortable and well appointed and the tiny courtyard and roof terrace welcome bonuses. There's lots to see in the area but Ostuni is also a pleasant place to hang out in. The food in the region is absolutely wonderful and we ate some of the best meals ever (ask Will for recommendations). We were also very impressed by the ruins and archeological museum nearby. We would not hesitate to recommend it to friends and we are already thinking about what we might do when we return in the future.

Great place to stay in!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful holiday in Ostuni- great food, friendly and helpful local people, child friendly and lots to see and do around. We did not rent a car and used local transport (you need to check timings carefully) which was a good experience. We managed to visit Alberobello (slightly complicated via public transport but we managed despite having a 5 year old in tow and not knowing a word of Italian!) and Lecce and enjoyed ourselves.

Lemon Tree House is a perfect base to explore the area- it is very comfortable and warm (we visited in Feb and it was sunny and bright but chilly in the nights) and in a lovely location. The owner Will was extremely helpful from the outset with giving us information, responding promptly and helping with lots of suggestions. Highly recommended and would love to return!

Lovely Lemon Tree House

  • 5 of 5

We had the pleasure of a stay in Lemon Tree House in August this year. The house was fantastic for my husband and I and our three children (age 7, 5 and 2). We were a little concerned that the roof terrace would be a risk for a curious toddler, however The owner Will, went to every effort to ensure that we had safety gates fitted and the house was perfect for us. It was so lovely to be able to sit on the roof terrace and enjoy the stunning view once the children were in bed. We were lucky enough to be in Ostuni at the time of the annual festival and the firework display at midnight was amazing from the roof terrace. The beaches around Ostuni are great for children with shallow, warm water and good 'castle building' sand. The house itself is beautiful and we found that it seemed to be one of the most photographed spots in Ostuni. This is a great property in a great location, we will be booking again.

Lemon tree in Ostuni

  • 5 of 5

We just enjoyed an excellent holiday in Lemon Tree house. It is a perfect location to holiday. It was our first time in a town house , having stayed previously in Acacia . Will is superb, from meeting and greeting us on arrival, the wonderful lunch left for our arrival was delicious and most welcome. Nothing is too much trouble , he is very knowledgeable about the old town , leaves plenty of information to help make a very relaxed holiday. The house is very well equipped with plenty of extras often skimped by other holiday lets.

The hill is a good walk , (my mum who is 74 coped very well in fact as the week went on she was positively sprightly going up and down the hill) and best bit is that after two weeks indulging in fine wine, wonderful food and indulgent cocktails (Gipas 111 in courtyard just a stroll from lemons tree highly recommended), didn't gain any weight!

We hired a car , which found handy to explore the coast, no parking up in old town but if you don't like to walk the little taxi bikes do regular shuttle service.

Lemon tree offers a great alternative to villa holidays, being in the old town by night meant no need for taxis after a night out, on the day it rained we could entertain ourselves exploring the museum, cathedral and many shops, yet it is just a short drive through olive groves to the beaches.

Can't wait to go back!

A real gem

  • 5 of 5

When people think of holidaying in Italy the Lakes and the Amalfi Coast come to mind, but Puglia is a real gem. This is where lots of Italians come on holiday, and for good reason, it's a great area with a very relaxed feel, with some lovely beaches and towns to explore. Lemon Tree House is situated in the very heart of Ostuni, a town you will spend many an hour exploring, with its tiny little streets with little boutique shops and an excellent choice of restaurants. The house is simply but tastefully furnished, with a wonderful little courtyard with the lemon tree and a great roof terrace with views out to the sea. Will is a splendid host, and its brilliant to have him at hand in case of emergency (such as when we locked ourselves out!) The food and wine provided for a meal on our first night was a really nice touch, demonstrating how Will will go out of his to make your stay a special one. Highly recommended we may well be back soon!

Further Details:

Ostuni, the "Citta Bianca" is a magical place especially in the evenings. The architecture is a mix of all things southern Mediterranean. It looks like a north African town. Eating, drinking and relaxing out in the open air late into the night is a joy, for all ages. In July and more so in August the main Piazzas of Ostuni and Carovigno have live entertainment of all sorts of high quality, culminating in the Saint Oronzo horse parade in Ostuni on August 25/26th. Martina Franca has an Opera festival in July. Ostuni and Carovigno are working towns that operate all year round. This is a mainly agricultural area. Northern Puglia grows most of the dram wheat for the pasta of Italy, & the region makes as much wine as Australia but, this particular area is best known for it's olive oil. Olive tress are everywhere which give the view a green 'carpet'. The soil here is highly fertile and wonderful vegetables are available. The Markets tend to be on different days in different towns. Carovigno's is Tuesday morning, Ostuni has a full market on a Saturday morning and a vegetable market on a Wednesday morning. There are good supermarkets and smaller specialist grocers, butchers, fish vendors, cheese makers, wine, and fresh pasta shops in both towns.

There are blue flag beaches within a ten minute drive, (visible from the roof terrace,) and many other lovely beaches and coves to swim, snorkel, and sunbathe. In the summer evenings the coastal villages come alive with music, street vendors, ice cream parlours, restaurants and bars.

The beautiful Baroque towns of Lecce, Martina Franca, Locorotondo and the Famous Trulli of Alberobello are all a short drive.
