About the Owner

20 years ago, Sue and Tim were looking for a weekend bolthole from Tim's busy job as a surgeon, when one weekend they chanced upon a plot of land for sale in Polruan. On a 1:4 slope, covered in bindweed, nettles and brambles, they were immediately captivated by the absolutely stunning view. Armed with graph paper, cut outs for the furniture and a pencil, they set about designing their perfect holiday home. Initially it had just the 2 bedrooms but with the arrival of grandchildren, this was cleverly increased to 3 and when Tim retired, it became their main home and a utility room was added.

However, with the older generation and grandchildren living in the south east, they decided to move there too and so could not visit as often as they wished.

Still shocked at just how good this place was!

  • 5 of 5

The design of this house is superb and the the views are just unbeatable. Impossible to describe just how good the views are.

The house is brilliantly equipped and you won't find a thing missing. The layout is perfect for families with a great sociable open plan living and kitchen area and bedrooms below. The owners are friendly, enthusiastic and helpful. They are truly dog friendly as well with an enclosed rear garden. The Luggar Inn down the hill is a must for a visit. Proper traditional pub serving great food, real ale and a genuinely friendly atmosphere. Easy access across to Fowey, the ferry takes just a few minutes and runs all day.

Just book it! - you couldn't possibly regret it. Even on a bad day watching the boat activity across to Fowey is thoroughly relaxing. Totally trouble free accommodation.

Fabulous house with amazing views

  • 5 of 5

We have just enjoyed a wonderful holiday at Polruan. The information pack provided prior to the visit was very detailed. We received a very friendly welcome at the property from David who showed us where everything was, and how things worked. The views from the balcony and the lounge are fantastic and we spent a lot of time watching all the activity on the water while enjoying a cup of tea or a glass of wine. The house is very well equipped with lots of little extras provided, such as tea, coffee, dishwasher tablets etc. The doggy shower was very useful when returning from the beach. We ate at both local pubs. You definitely need to book at the Lugger. The food at the Russell was also good but took almost an hour to arrive, which was apparently due to a new team in the kitchen. It is a nice walk down to the harbour - and a very steep climb back up. The house is ideally located for Hall Walk and coastal path. We took the passenger ferry and enjoyed a visit to Fowey. Would definitely recommend and would love to return.

Idyllic Honeymoon

  • 5 of 5

We have just spent our honeymoon in this gorgeous property and now cannot wait to return. The house is lovely and the views from the living room and bedrooms are spectacular! We stayed during the first week in January and the views were stunning during drizzly, wet weather so during the summer months the views must be awesome, especially as there is a bi-folding door in the kitchen which opens up directly onto the outside terrace which looks out over Fowey and the Fowey Estuary. The owners were aware that it was our honeymoon and left a bottle of champagne for us in the fridge which was a lovely touch. There is everything that you could wish for in this property and we found the house to be tastefully decorated, well appointed and exceptionally clean! We have stayed in several properties in Polruan over the past six years and in our opinion this is by far the best property that we have stayed at and is very reasonably priced as well. We can't wait until our next visit!

Christmas Holiday

  • 5 of 5

Have just returned home after spending 11 nights over the Christmas Holiday at number 14. Smashing hols!

Just perfect for sitting either at the kitchen island or the lounge and watching the activity on the water and at night all the lovely christmas lights. Views to die for!

Lovely and warm in the house + the wood burner, very cosy and comfortable.

Excellent walks, my Bernese Mountain Dog loved the Hall walk!

Would recommend this house any time of year.

We will be back.

Thank you

A House with a View

  • 5 of 5

Stunning house with fabulous view. Modern. very clean and well equipped and dog friendly, what more could you ask.

We have just returned from a 5 day stay and none of us wanted to leave. You can just sit on the balcony and watch all the comings and goings on the estuary or walk down to the village for a trip on the ferry across to Fowey. No need to drive long distances, plenty to see and do on the doorstep.

We particularly enjoyed our visit's to 'The Lugger' Pub in Polruan village , friendly staff, and good food and always a lovely welcome for the dog too.

Excellent communication from the owners when booking and a friendly welcome from David on arrival.

All in all a great property in a gorgeous Cornish village. we will be back.
