About Marilyn smith

Our Cottages are a few minutes walk from the Ancient Market Town of Stratton with local shop, hairdresser , Post Office and two Public houses the Kings Arms and The Tree Inn both of which serve good food. The famous seaside town of Bude is 2miles drive away, with Summerleaze Beach being sandy and great for building sand castles, Crooklets Beach also sandy, but good for rock pooling and catching the odd crab or two. You could even take surfing lessons. Widemouth Beach great for surfing. All three are safely watched by lifeguards and are very helpful.

Marilyn smith purchased this cottage in 1980

Why Marilyn smith chose Torridge

Howard Holidays is a family run business. My name is Marilyn and my husband is John, we converted our barns back in 2000 since then they have had many changes and upgrades. We maintain them ourselves and live on site, so if anything is needed we are here to help.

Cosy cottage in peaceful location

  • 5 of 5

Owl cottage was a lovely home from home. Very comfortable beds ensured an excellent nights sleep and the garden was simply wonderful. Stratton is a great location; close enough to to Bude to make it easily accessible but far enough away to ensure peace and tranquility. Marilyn and John were the perfect hosts. We loved it.

Great cottage, lovely area

  • 4 of 5

Fab accommodation, great communication with owner who even called to say we had left a book. Which was kindly posted back to our home.

Cottage was clean, tidy and well presented with tea, coffee and a pint of milk in the fridge on arrival, which after 10 hours of travel was a god send.

We stayed for 5 days and are planning a return visit to explore the area further and can think of no better 0lace to stay and use as our base.

Perfect holiday

  • 5 of 5

Recently stayed at Owl Cottage, Howard Farm Bude. Lovely surroundings, cottage was immaculate, beautiful gardens and dog friendly. Very warm welcome from host Marilyn, nothing was too much bother, very friendly and always up for a chat. Cottage was so central for getting out and about inland and coastal. Would definitely book to stay again at this cottage.
