Car: necessary

The nearest coastal resort to the property is Argelès sur Mer being 35kms away & about 40 minutes' drive with Collioure being the next closest at 42kms & around 45 minutes' drive. However, the other resorts of Canet & St. Cyprien are only about an hour's drive. Plus the lake at St. Jean Pla de Cort with it's restaurants & water sports is only about 20 minutes' makes a fun day out

The closest airport is Perpignan, about 45kms away (50 minutes' drive). With the motorway being close by, access to other airports is easy: Carcassonne airport being approximately 150kms distant & taking an hour & three quarters to drive, Montpellier airport is 190kms & takes about 2 hours to drive there. Girona airport (in Spain) is 90kms away & is about an hour & a quarter drive from the property. A car is really essential for a holiday in Oms.

Céret is 16kms away. Perpignan is approximately 35kms & takes 40 minutes in the car. The first of the Cathar castles (Queribus) is about an hour's drive, as are the walled villages of Villefranche de Conflent & Prats de Mollo. The famed village of Rennes le Château is about 2 hours' drive & can be combined with a visit to one of the Cathar castles. The town of Thuir being about 22kms & around 30minutes' drive away. The border with Spain is about 40 minutes drive via the motorway.

Further Details:

Both Céret & Thuir boast a number of good restaurants in addition to several lively bars & cafés & have a choice of banks, doctors, dentists, garages, supermarkets, petrol stations & other shops & boutiques plus outdoor markets. During the summer season there are plenty of festivals & other attractions in both towns. There is also a clinic in Céret for immediate treatment of minor injuries which, hopefully, won't be necessary! There are shady walks to be had through forest tracks virtually from the doorstep. The coast offers some spectacular walks around the headland from Argelès to Collioure & Port Vendres to Banyuls sur Mer. The Little Yellow Train, which winds up through the mountains from Villefranche de Conflent, is a must. In Perpignan there is terrific atmosphere at the Thursday music evenings from mid-July through August with bands playing different styles of music from jazz to salsa, steel bands, blues, etc. at various squares in the town throughout the evening: listening whilst having dinner at one of the many restaurant terraces makes the experience complete. The impressive Palais de Rois de Majorque in Perpignan hosts a number of free concerts, some with famous artists. Whilst, further afield, the city of Carcassonne is an imposing sight & well worth a visit, as is a trip to Girona or Barcelona, catering for all tastes from shopping till you drop, the wonderful architecture of the churches & cathedrals to the cultural jewels of the museums & art galleries plus a plethora of excellent restaurants to suit all budgets & tastes.

Attractions available in the region are plentiful, including cinemas (some with original version films), botanical garden, museums, zoo, vinyard tours, maritime museum, churches, casinos & free concerts in Perpignan.

Leisure activities in the area include horse-riding, walking with donkeys, water sports, mountain biking, snorkelling, golf, rafting, cycling, jet-skiing, swimming, outlet shopping, scenic drives & hydrotherapy.

Fantastic relaxing villa

  • 5 of 5

Ideal villa (Villa des Fleurs @ Oms) for family up to 6 people or indeed any mixed group. Pool is fantastic as are all other facilities listed in ad. Manager will tell you in advance of things that are included such as dishwash tabs, washing machine liqued and some kitchen items so that you don't double up. Best to shop in Ceret before arrival. Little shop cum bar in the village sells daily essentials. The villa is very secluded and quiet. One of the most relaxing places we have ever rented. Lynne and Bruno the managers are very accomodating and will provide any information you need as they live locally. Nothing was too much trouble. Quality of everything in the villa was very good. Also plenty of loungers for the pool area plus bbq(gas) plus table tennis. Main patio area great for sitting under the grape vines for a meal. In reach of the coast, the city of Perpignon and all the eastern end of the Pyrenees for day trips.

Fantastic Villa for a relaxing holiday

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in Villa Des Fleurs for the first 2 weeks of August and had a wonderful time! The Villa is beautiful!! Very spacious and comfortable with a great layout. The house is very well equipped and has all you need. We spent a lot of time at the villa as our boys were quite happy in the pool and playing table tennis and we were happy just to relax. We had some lovely BBQ's out on the terrace at night watching the sun go down and admiring all the stars in the sky. We did some day trips to the beach and particularly enjoyed Coullioure, an old fishing town close to the Spanish border. Very beautiful with lovely places to eat and plenty of art galleries. We loved the nearby town Ceret and went there for the Saturday market and spent hours just walking around. There's a small square where you can sit out, eat and listen to live music. Lynne was very helpful and gave us lots of tips & ideas, I think we would have missed out on a lot of things if she had not told us about it! Thank you!!

Lovely stay at the end of August

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for a week in the delightful house up in the fresh clean air in the hills near Ceret. Great space with everything we needed and all in excellent working order. Very comfortable for a group of six. Spacious. A private and beautiful spot to watch the sun and the mist rising and rolling over the mountains close by. nearby Ceret a delightful town with lovely art gallery and plenty of eating options. Drive to the coast for sea and art at Collioure - market towns all over the place. They were bringing in the grapes in the local vineyards on our final days - lots of activity in the valley. A fabulous part of France and so near to Spain - not crowded at all. A lovely holiday and a great base for doing nothing but reading and resting or going places.

excellent holiday house

  • 5 of 5

A very well equipped house in a perfect location. Nearby village shop for essentials (Bread, croissants etc) fantastic scenery, and lovely peace and quiet.

Ceret is 10 minutes down the (winding) road and its a short hop to Spain.

The house is underplayed on this site. Its very clan and well equipped, able to sleep 4 - 6 easily, lots of space and nice touches. (we watched a lot of the DVD's) the kitchen has sharp knives - a sure sign they have paid attention to detail. Lynn was on hand if help were needed, and offered advice on places to eat and walking routes (although it was too hot for that)

there's shade by the pool, which made it perfect for the really hot days, and there's table tennis - a holiday staple for our family!

a very good place to go.

Perfect for a quiet family getaway

  • 5 of 5

We've visited this area a few times but had our first stay in Villa des Fleurs this year. It's a very well thought out and well-appointed villa - we particularly liked the open plan layout and the ease of being able to step out onto the sun terrace from the main living areas. The kitchen is up to date and everything you think you might need is there - It very much feels like you are visiting someone's home as a guest. The property is well set back from the road so it's quiet and peaceful up by the house and that's the main attraction for us of the area overall. It's a beautiful part of France to drive around and stop off in the villages when you want to explore, and there's a quiet base to come back to and watch the clouds come off the mountains.

We didn't use the pool much (too early in the year for anything other than a bracing dip!) but everything was in really good order and condition. Lynne was also very helpful about recommending some places to eat in the area that we hadn't tried before, and managed to get the wifi/tv working for us in short order too.

Superb holiday home

  • 5 of 5

Our stay here was perfect! Villa des Fleurs is a superb holiday home in a beautiful, peaceful ,away-from-it-all location. The villa is very well equipped with everything you might possibly need, and the spacious and stylish but comfortable design make it a lovely place to relax and chill out. We enjoyed leisurely meals on the terrace with splendid views over lush greenery to the mountains beyond and watching the sun set there was a bonus. The pool is wonderful and very well maintained and the gardens are lovely – we were lucky that the figs on the tree by the terrace were just ripening so we gorged ourselves! Another bonus is excellent internet access which can be a problem in rural locations. It was great to have a warm welcome and an introduction to the house from Lynne who gave us all sorts of helpful insider tips on what to do and where to eat. Also to know that she lived not far away if we had problems (which we didn’t)! Oms is a pretty and interesting historical village with lots of good walks nearby and and there’s loads to explore further afield. The villa is so nice though that it’s tempting just to stay put and enjoy the pool! Our only regrets were that we never did see the wild boar that Lynne said were round and about, that we didn’t get round to that game of table tennis and that we couldn't stay longer!
