The Warren Holiday Cottage near Knighton is a converted 2 bedroom barn attached to our farmhouse, ideally situated for those who want to enjoy a relaxing, peaceful holiday with country walks from the door including the Offa's Dyke, or there is an abundance of activities, including cycling, horse riding and fishing in the area. The Offa's Dyke footpath passes close by, with the Offa's Dyke Centre at Knighton (2 miles) where you will also find shops, pubs and restaurants. Ideally situated on the Powys/Shropshire and Herefordshire border to explore the unique sites each county has to offer. Visit the border castles, Bishops Castle, Clun and Ludlow as well as Stokesay and Powys, the Elan Valley or the Radnor Forest. Antiques and crafts, teashops and bookshops abound and there are many attractive villages in the area, including those linked by the Black and White Trail. Drive though the Herefordshire cider county. Hay on Wye and Shrewsbury within 1 hr. Whatever the season, there is plenty to do and at the end of the day relax with a glass of wine gazing up at the stars!

Perfect stay for chilling out...

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at The Warren. It was very comfortable, quiet and surrounded by beautiful countryside. Carol and Chris were available if we needed anything, but there was plenty of information, maps etc in the barn and we were lucky with the weather and only had one wet day. Would definitely recommend for a quiet, getting away from it all holiday with lovely walks and lots to see nearby.

Comfortable, quiet and beautifully presented.

The barn was just right for two friends who enjoy peace and quiet with a high level of comfort. Lovely walks in the area and lots of interesting history and architecture. Some great shops (especially in Bishop's Castle) and good restaurants, such as The Stagg at Titley.

Delightful barn conversation in beautiful surroundings.

A lovely holiday home ideal for a family of four or two couples with the added bonus of being dog friendly. The property had everything we needed and more. It's in an ideal location to explore mid Wales as well as some pretty towns in England. A lovely relaxing stay.

Everything we needed

Carol & Chris were very welcoming. The Warren is well presented and furnished. Easy access and in a good location for exploring the 3 counties. Beautiful countryside. The array of birds feeding and nesting kept us occupied when we were there. Particularly enjoyed Ludlow and exploring some of the other market towns. Unfortunately the weather wasn't conducive on most days for long country walking without the appropriate clothing!

A charming barn cottage with excellent facilities.

We walked Glyndwrs Way from Knighton using the Warren Barn as a base. The owners Carol and Chris were very helpful and pleasant. The cottage was well equipped and cosy. We want to return.

Further Details:

Whatever the season, there is plenty to do. There are great opportunities for walkers and nature-lovers, for anglers and bird watchers, for golfers and historians.

Public rights-of-way are there for you to walk through the woods and fields, explore the quiet valleys and lanes and climb to the top of the hills to marvel at the view. Nearby are Offa’s Dyke Path, and the start of Glyndwr's Way, the Long Mynd, the Teme Valley, Mortimer Forest, Radnor Forest and the spectacular Elan Valley.

The Radnor Forest with bridlepaths and walks is well worth a visit if you are a keen walker.

Border castles are in abundance – notably Stokesay, Clun, Powis and Ludlow – and there are several National Trust properties within a short drive. The village of Leintwardine, once a Roman settlement, is only ten miles away.

There is much to discover in the nearby towns – Church Stretton, Bishop’s Castle, Leominster, Knighton and, above all, Ludlow. Slightly further afield is Hay on Wye, Shrewbury and Hereford.

Explore the Black and White Trail, Weobley, Eardisland and Pembridge to name a few of the villages.

For those more active there is Underhill Riding Stables, Griffin Lloyd Shooting Ground and Phil Price Rally School all within 10 miles.

There are also 2 gliding centres nearby in Talgarth and Church Stretton.
