Cosy south facing terrace with sea view, roof terrace. Everywhere around the house. There are beautiful gardens and quite lovely corners. There is a gate to the open patio and a door to entrance hall, a lovely covered terrace with French windows to the spacious dining/living area, small but well equipped separate kitchen; the master bedroom with en suite shower room, a dining/living room with fire place (just for décor) and door to terrace.

Lovely villa in lovely location

The listing for this property is accurate. We enjoyed a lovely holiday in this villa which is situated on the edge of the properties at this resort. It is close to the beach lift, the large Atlantic pool and the other swimming pools. The supermarket and on site restaurant are just a couple of minutes away on foot.

The villa itself has lovely views across the sea and has a lovely outside area to sit in including a small courtyard. The kitchen is well equipped.

The only additional thing that would have been nice would be a couple of sun loungers for the days you perhaps did not want to visit the beach or one of the pools.

Lovely big property with great views and location

The house has the best position on the complex, giving privacy, a great view and a few mins walk to the picturesque pool and lovely beaches. The grassy area outside was great for the children and the patio was a sun trap for eating outside. The housekeeper was very helpful, as was the owner when we couldn't get the hot water going and they sorted it within half an hour. Alvor was a lovely town, it took us about 40 mins to walk there along the beach but that was with 3 kids in tow and I think they were rebuilding the boardwalk while we were there, which would make the walk much quicker. Taxis there and back were cheap and plentiful though. The weather was great in the daytime, but a bit cool in the evenings. We would recommend the Atlantida restaurant on the beach, it was the best meal we had all week, but the pizza restaurant on the complex was also good. We will def be back.

Fantastic

Fantastic holiday. Perfect location with amazing views. This was by far the best property we have stayed in Alvor. With two children the field in front of the property was ideal. The beautiful Atlantic pool a couple of minutes walk and so were the beaches. Walking distance into Alvor. The terrace at the front of the property was unbeatable to sit and enjoy outdoor dinning. Relax with evening drinks. Both Maria & the owner were prompt and responsive prior to our stay. We will return 😀

Great house, great location

Lovely roomy house in a superb location almost literally a stone's throw from one of Portugal's most beautiful beaches. Although part of the large Prainha complex the house has a peaceful location and feels very private. Helpful and friendly owner. Highly recommended!

Beautiful location

This is a great place to stay with a young family; the accommodation was clean, spacious and secure, with the swimming pools and beach both a short walk away. With interesting rocks and caves, the beach was an ideal place for our curious two year old to explore and there were plenty of shady spots to relax in with our baby. The food and service at the beach bar was excellent, although in the hotel restuarant it was awful. Communication with the owner, manager and housekeeper was prompt, friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, there was an unpleasent smell of drains in the accommodation throughout our stay, which was especially bad in the mornings and some of the outdoor furniture was in such poor condition that it couldn't be used: this is a shame because other than that, it was perfect. For three adults and two children, we thought that it was excellent value and really enjoyed our stay.

Perfect location but some problems

Wonderful location by the beautiful beaches and cliffs. Very stylish and spacious home. The owner was very helpful over the phone when we got lost trying to follow the directions to ther property. Two problems. First, the kitchen did not have basic supplies. Everywhere we stay properties have salt, pepper, dish detergent and cooking oil, at a minimum. This property was stripped bare. Very inconvenient, especially for the price we paid. Second, there was a very strong smell from the drains in the kitchen - we had to close off that end of the house. The housekeeper quickly responded to the problem but the odor was replaced with an eye watering chemical smell.

Property is self catering and is not permitted by low to leave eatable things, even spices, olive oil, etc, in properties Owner can take a big risk of a complaint about if for any reason , things not fresh or in good conditions even in a closed containers By experience, I must tell you that is a big issue. So guests with a close mini market can get easily what they need. Some dish washer, cloth and sponge , must be there for guests. Let me ask house keeper why you couldn’t find any in the kitchen. About price, yes, might be “expensive” for just 2 people. But price is per property not Nº of people. You might not realize that you Could have bring with you 4 more people + 1 baby. This way is not expensive at all and property never booked for 2 people, most of the time for a family of 6 – 3 bedrooms available. About smell from kitchen pipes, has been sorted out. You will be very welcome any time and thanks for the constructive comments Best wishes

If you have the time you should really go on a boat trip, if you don't have the time then it is certyainly worth making time.

W went on a boat up the River Arade to Silves and back with Alvor Boat trips.

They have a small stand on the front at Alvor advertising different boat trips from hour long cruises up the river to full days fishing or swimming. Just tell them what you want to do and they will make it happen for you.

• Fishing trips include equipment and refreshments, snorkel eqipment is supplied for the swim and snorkel trips.

• The Abicada ruins of a Neolithic village retaining traces of subsequent Roman occupation (with what was once a Fine Roman Villa dating back to 1st/4th century with several rooms and a peristyle decorated with coloured mosaics bearing geometric patterns and stylised designs

From Alvor, go up towards the EN125 and turn left towards Lagos for about a mile and a half, when you will see a sign for the Roman Ruins. About twenty yards after the sign, turn left down a road with the railway line on the right. This road then turns into a dirt track, keep going straight on, past the point of "This can't be the right way." and keep going past some derelict farm houses until the end of the road where there is a turning circle in the dirt. The ruined villa is right in front of you.

• During the period of Moorish rule, Alvor was a thriving port. The ramparts defending it were the scene of violent fighting when the Portuguese army led by King Sancho 1 conquered it in 1189, with the help of Crusaders en route to the Holy Land.

Retaken by the Moors in 1191, it was only returned to Christian dominion in 1250, at the time of the campaigns that resulted in the conquest of the whole of the Algarve. The town walls were rebuilt in 1300 and Alvor.
