My husband and I stayed at this property 2 years ago and really enjoyed it. We now have a small baby and would be interested in coming again.

Restaurants, the sea and the beach are on our doorstep but the house is so peaceful! We're planning to return! Thanks for your help. JG - France.

We've had a great holiday - thanks! Bizarova was just right for the 2 of us. Unbeatable position. Loved the promenade, which came alive at night. SL and TL - London.

Great food (and wine!) We recommend breakfast, lunch and dinner by the sea - why cook?! A trip to Korcula is a must. The kids loved their sofabed. The B family - Norway.

Beautiful weather, friendly people and lots to do. We've really enjoyed our stay - Many thanks CP and family - Luton.

Beautiful, quiet location seconds from beach!

  • 5 of 5

This property is an ideal base for anyone looking to stay in Orebic and/or explore further afield. It has air con in the bedroom, a good powerful shower, a fridge/freezer and a hob for cooking quick meals. The best part about this house is its location- you literally walk out of the front door and are 20 seconds from the beach where you can set up for the day. Even though it's so close to the beach, it is so quiet at night that you won't be disturbed by anyone.

Orebic itself is a beautiful and unspoilt place, with easy access to nearby islands and towns. We hired a scooter and ventured up the mountains to the vineyards and off to other seaside towns such as Loviste.

The owner of this house is also extremely helpful and responsive and will give you loads of really detailed information before your arrival so that you know how to find the house with ease. He also gave us so much information on activities, transport and restaurants which was incredibly helpful.

Overall this house is perfect for a quiet stay and is ideally located for travelling to other places. We can't wait to go back already!

Bizarova stone house is right on the path overlooking the gorgeous Adriatic, very pretty tree lined waterfront with shops, eateries etc all a stone's throw away. It's small but perfectly formed and represents great value for money. Would definitely visit again

Orebic is fab

  • 5 of 5

We had such a lovely stay in your house in Orebic! The accommodation was clean quiet and ideally positioned - close to everything we wanted - beautiful walks, a variety of restaurants, the beach, bakers, open air markets. We thoroughly enjoyed easy trips to nearby islands but loved the charm and friendliness of the local area. We plan to stay with you again and have told our friends. Thanks so much for all your helpful tips and making it a special holiday for us.

Living History

You will be staying in the oldest water front settlement on the Peljesac Peninsula as our house dates back over 500 years, perhaps even older. Originally Dubrovnik was known as Ragusa and the Ragusan Republic controlled most of what is modern day Dalmatia from 1300 to the 1800s. They built fortifications at Ston to protect access to the base of the peninsula and also to guard their burgeoning salt production business. The Republic had close historical connections with Spain and it is said that Spain recruited sea captains from Dalmatia to help them with the envisaged invasion of England, the Spanish Armada of 1588, because of their excellent seamanship. Somewhere around 1500 our house was built by the sea. They built the settlements around the design of the narrow alleys so they would never face the approaching NE cold wind and the second reason was that fortified gates could be fixed across the narrow alleys, to fend off any attacks from the pirates.

Coast/Beach:

A five minute walk to the main Orebic beach and one of Croatia's top ten beaches is across the channel in Lumbarda.

Travel:

The nearest airport is Dubrovnik which is a very beautiful 2 hour drive away. You can also arrive into Split which is a 3 hour drive. Should you arrive by ferry to Korcula, you will need to take another ferry to Orebic (15 minute transfer). You are then a 7 minute walk from the house. I would always suggest hiring a car to allow you to explore the area but due to the location, it's not necessary. Transfer from the airport can be arranged at additional cost.

Further Details:

Our house in the heart of old Orebic Town is at least 500 years old. Our neighbour to the left is a fisherman and opposite is the retired art teacher who you will find painting in his studio next door. The town first thrived as the so called “sea captain's town” as it was the most northern city of the Republic of Dubrovnik where numerous defence ships and freight ships passed through. Between the 16th and 17th century an influx of prosperous sea captains and their families moved here. In the 19th century over 33 overseas ships regularly docked in Orebic. Today the beautiful homes of the prominent sea captains provide a beautiful promenade intermingled with bustling bars and restaurants.

If you turn right along the promenade within 100 metres you will find the sophisticated Adriatic Hotel. They are open all year and provide free internet for the price of your coffee or wine. Their grilled steak and fish dishes are excellent and offer a special treat. For everyday sustenance turn up the hill away from the sea and pick your way past our neighbours gardens and orchards. In two minutes you will be on the main road with the “Antonio” bakery opposite providing your breakfast needs. Next door is “Bistro Noa” with great value food with quick service (and more free wi-fi). They do their pizzas as take away starting from only 40 kuna. Bring one home and eat it outside with some chilled wine or beer.

Orebic offers supermarkets, banks, internet cafes, restaurants, bars, cafes, bakers, greengrocers, chemists - everything you could need. On the road between Orebic and Viganj you will find places offering tennis, boule, boat hire, car hire, bicycle hire, scuba diving and watersports equipment hire including all forms of wind and kitesurfing.
