Cottage in Cherval, Nr. Verteillac, Dordogne, Aquitaine, France - In A Quiet Hamlet Only Minutes Walk From Village Bar And Shop. Welcome pack provided on arrival.

Chez Lucie is a recently renovated stone cottage. It has an open plan ground floor, including a comfortable seating area with a stone fireplace and woodburning stove. There is a large circular dining table seating six for family dining indoors. To try out your French recipes there is a fully equipped quality kitchen. There is also a small conservatory with french windows leading out into the garden and a WC and utility room on the ground floor. On the first floor are 3 bedrooms, two doubles and one with twin beds and a family bathroom. The cottage has a good internet/WIFI connection and a flat screen TV with UK satellite channels. Chez Lucie is in an ideal position to explore the northern, unspoilt area of the Dordogne. The lively village of Verteillac, with butchers, bakers, bars and several restaurants is only 5 minutes drive away, or for a choice of larger supermarkets and also one of the Dordogne's biggest weekly market, the town of Riberac is less than 20 minutes away.

I have lived and worked here in the Dordogne for the past 10 years, and love the easy pace of life, lovely sunny weather, food, drink and culture. I am about 10 minutes drive away from the cottage and so am easily available for ideas and information about an area of France that I love.

The river beach at Aubeterre (a 'plus belle village de France') is 27k away and the lake at La Jemaye is about 30 mins away, with its sandy beach, woodland walks, cafés and children's play areas.


Bergerac airport is 1 hour and 15 mins away, Limoges and Bordeaux are both about 1 hour 45 mins. The drive from the channel ports of Le Havre, St Malo, Cherbourg or Caen can all take less than 6 hours non stop. The TGV from Paris to Angouleme is 2 hours and 20 minutes, and, like the airports, car hire is available at the station.


The little village of Cherval (bar, bakery/tiny grocer) is about 6 minutes walk, Verteillac is only 5 minutes drive away and Riberac with several supermarkets, excellent market and other shops, 20 mins away. The historic cities of Perigueux and Angouleme are both 30 to 40 minutes away and the lovely tourist spots of Aubeterre and Brantôme are 30 minutes or less. You will also find many lesser known villages to explore close at hand.

Further Details:

Most of the towns along the nearby river Dronne offer canoeing trips and horse riding can usually be arranged at the local stables. The village of Cherval has public tennis courts and there are attractive public swimming pools in Verteillac and Riberac.

25% deposit is required when booking and the balance is payable 6 weeks prior to arrival. A refundable £150 breakages and damage deposit is required with the finally balance payment and will be returned within 2 weeks of the end of the holiday dates.

Changeover day is Saturday, departure by 10am, arrival after 4 pm.
