About the property

Cottage in Newborough, Anglesey, Wales - Walking Distance Of Beach And Views Of Snowdonia

Situated 5 minutes drive away from Newborough Beach, Dwynwen cottage enjoys views towards Snowdonia and provides an ideal base for exploring the island and North Wales. Awarded 5 star status by the Welsh Tourist Board, this cottage is well equipped and maintained, providing everything you might need for a relaxing holiday in a cottage full of character and history. Travel cot and high chair can be provided by arrangement. We are happy to welcome your well behaved pets but ask that they stay in the dining kitchen and not in the bedrooms. We have newly installed kennels, very handy for drying off your dogs after they have been enjoying the miles of coastal footpaths and beaches that Anglesey has to offer.

About Esther Howie

Now retired, I live in England with my husband and two dogs.

My roots are in North Wales, and we bought this beautiful cottage in 2013 not long after our daughter, Esther, and her family relocated from Scotland to Anglesey (you may meet Esther as she will be looking after the cottage for us while we are not there).

I love being able to come up to the cottage, being close to the sea as well as the mountains. I hope that you will enjoy using our home, whether it is sitting out in the garden taking in the grandeur of Snowdonia or snuggled up inside by the fire.

Lovely cottage & really enjoyed our stay. Rated 4* not 5 due to no ensuite to the upstairs bedroom

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review Christine, so glad you enjoyed the cottage. We did look at the possibility of putting an ensuite in the upstairs bedroom - as you say it would finish things off nicely, however, as it is a crogloft style room and a traditional cottage it unfortunately just wasn't going to be possible. Sometimes the character of the place means compromises elsewhere. We hope we have managed to adapt the rest of the cottage to include "all mod-cons" without losing any of its character.

STUNNING COTTAGE SET WITHIN STUNNING SCENERY

  • 5 of 5

A beautiful two bedroom cottage that has all you need for a wonderful break, we have just returned after a three night break 18th/22nd February 2017. There was myself my husband, and 15 year old son, we also took our lovely German shepherd Marcella. There is a fully enclosed garden and beautiful dog kennel should you wish to use it, my dog absolutely loved it. The cottage is warm and cosy and has everything you need for a lovely break. On a clear day you can see all of Snowdonia and there is alovely seat outside where you can make the most of the views. The owners go a lot of trouble to make you feel welcome, thank you Esther for the lovely flowers/ chocolates/ milk etc they are a very thoughtful touch, also kindling wood and logs, very much appreciated.

The cottage is very warm and cosy, it has a great wifi signal too. It is also set in a very quiet location, but you are so near to the lovely Newborough forest and the wonderful beach and close to all Anglesey has too offer. There is a welcome book with lots of information about where to go, where to eat etc. We will be booking again very shortly, lovely owners, lovely cottage......5STARS

Owner's Response: Thank you Beverley, so glad you enjoyed it. Look forward to seeing you back again sometime soon. By the way - the paddock is fenced too now so extra space for a game of ball or whatever with the dog!

Delightful Cottage in a lovely area

  • 5 of 5

We have been staying holiday cottage twice a year for the past 10 years , this cottage is #2 of best cottage list, well equipped kitchen although I could have done with a larger pot for our delicious Anglesey mussels which we purchased from 'Menai Oysters & Mussels ' which was a short drive away.

Garden and equipment was very good

The cottage was ideally situated to visit all of the Anglesey which is lovely island , a short walk from the cottage was the very impressive 'Newborough Beach and Woods'

For eating out 'The Marram Grass' restaurant which a VERY short walk from the cottage was brilliant

Love this property - already booked again

  • 5 of 5

This is our second visit to this property. We first stayed in September last year. We have already booked again for our 3rd trip in July this year.

Facilities are fantastic - its like being on holiday but being at home. Wifi is really fast , which for me is important as I run my own business and need to keep an eye on emails ! Have stayed at other properties on the island where the wifi has been dreadful. The garden is great for our westies - its fully enclosed so they can run free without us having to worry. So perfect for visitors with family too !

The kitchen is fully equipped , very spacious and light ! They even provide milk butter tea and coffee and flowers on arrival - lovely touch. I would highly recommend this property for families , couples . You are never far from a beach on the island so this venue is perfectly placed. The beach at Newborough is beautiful as are many of the beaches on the island. Despite the time of year we only had 1 full day of rain during our 6 days on the island. Love it , lost count of the number of visits we have made , however this is the first venue we have returned to . Many thanks for your hospitality

Owner's Response: Many thanks for your review. We are hoping to complete the fencing along the back of the paddock as well this year so there will be even more enclosed space for dogs or games etc.
