Home Barn is within easy walking distance of the beach, pub and village shop and is set within a quiet complex of 8 properties behind the post office. The property has been finished to a very high standard using as many of the original features as possible and is particularly enhanced by the high ceilings with exposed beams throughout. It is fully equipped with everything the discerning holidaymaker could need. There is a small garden to the front of the property with private parking for a couple of cars. With 3 bedrooms sleeping 6 comfortably, Home Barn is the perfect place to relax and enjoy all that Thurlestone and surrounding area has to offer. Thurlestone is a picturesque village full of fabulous old stone and thatched buildings, an 18-hole golf course set in 50 spectacular acres on the cliff top, a 13th Century church, a traditional pub, a post office and general stores selling freshly baked bread and not forgetting it’s own telephone box lending library!

Activity and Interests


You are spoil for choice for beaches near Thurlestone with 5 within the village area and all safe for children. The most renowned is Thurlestone Sands with the famous Rock, owned by the National Trust with free parking for members and also has water sports equipment for hire. Other beaches are South Milton, Broadsands, Leamer and Leasfoot within Thurlestone and slightly further afield are Bantham (15 minute walk over the hill) which is great for surfing and Hope Cove, a few miles eastwards.


Car is recommended to fully explore the Devonshire countryside and beaches. Nearest airport are Exeter and Plymouth, both about one hours drive.


10 minutes drive to Kingsbridge, the nearest town, which has all the shopping facilities you will need including two large supermarkets. The sailing town of Salcombe is a 15 minute drive or there is a daily ferry from Kingsbridge. It is full of great shops, pubs and places to eat.

It is a 45 minute drive to Dartmouth and to Totnes, with latter having regular main line rail services to London and connecting locations for the whole of the UK.

Restaurants/bars - There is a lot of choice of good quality pubs and restaurants including:

The Village Inn at Thurlestone - good pub food and handy for a quencher on the way back from the beach.

The Beach House at South Milton - restaurant opened in 2013 and sits right next to South Milton beach, offering extremely good food, though is very popular so an early booking is recommended.

The Sloop at Bantham - good pub food.

The Hope and Anchor at Hope Cove - again good pub food and an upstairs room with nice views.

There are numerous areas of interest and details are included in the house however of note are Burgh Island, Overbecks Garden in Salcombe, Buckfast Abbey, Totnes Rare Breeds Farm, Paignton Zoo and the South Devon Railway.

Normally Friday. The house is available from 3.00 pm on Fridays. Guests are asked to leave by 10.00 am on the final day of their holiday to allow cleaners sufficient time to prepare for the next guests.
