About the property

Cottage in Port Appin, Appin, by Oban, Strathclyde (Inc. Islands), Scotland - Like Being On An Island! (Without the inconvenience!)

We have aimed for a comfortable cottage offering our visitors a "home away from home" with many "extras" that are often missing from holiday self catering accommodation. Four bedrooms, two doubles and two twins, the doubles are both en-suite. Two sitting rooms, one with an open fire, the other with ever changing views over the sea loch and mountains. Two large decking areas allow you to enjoy the outdoors too. We have been told by guests that our self catering cottage is "just ideal" and is very well equipped.

"Fantastic accommodation!"

We had the most wonderful stay at Bothan Darach! I cannot say enough about it, but I will try.

The location was really nice. Remote, but close to Port Appin, Oban (30 minutes drive), and Glencoe (30 minute drive), Inverness (2 hours), Kilmartin (1.5 hours).

4 beautifully appointed and remarkably comfortable bedrooms.

Beautiful and spacious kitchen with very nice dishes, appliances, and kitchen gadgets (my dream kitchen). The best equipped rental kitchen I have ever seen.

2 living spaces (upstairs has a fantastic view)

The house was filled with books, board games, DVDs, etc to entertain everyone in case we just wanted to stay in and relax

There was an incredible amount of space for the 11 of us! We never felt like we were crowded at all. Plenty of hot water and water pressure.

Really enjoyable time and really enjoyed the Scottish hospitality! Dreaming about coming back again.

Notes on accommodation: Our minimum let is seven nights, Saturday to Saturday. Suit larger families or two families together! Though we are equally happy to welcome couples too! We welcome dogs, there is a £20 per week, per dog, charge Outside: An enclosed garden with two large decking areas. Large wooden picnic table with seats for eight. There is also garden furniture and a BBQ, garden toys / games. Utility Room: Washing machine and tumble dryer Cleaning / Towels / Linen All bed linen is supplied along with a hand & bath towel for each person. We also supply a hand towel in each bathroom and one for the kitchen. We leave a cotton bath mat in each bathroom, tea towels, oven gloves and apron left in the kitchen too. Other: The upstairs sitting room has two comfortable leather sofas, a 4 & 2 seater. Two wooden rocking chairs and two rattan chairs with lovely views over Loch Linnhe and the mountains

A lovely, clean, well equipped and spacious house

This property is well cared for and has everything one could need for a comfortable family holiday. The upstairs living space is a real surprise and has a huge window looking out towards the loch. The large, fully enclosed garden is a bonus and there is plenty of parking. You really do need a car to make the most of your visit, as there is so much to see and do. The area is wonderful for walking and there are plenty of great places to eat out, whatever your budget. There is a community shop within walking distance, that has all the basics. Oban has a large Tesco and Fort William a Morrisons, if you prefer to and cook at home in the spacious kitchen.

As a group, our interests include birdwatching, walking, photography and eating local produce. Although the weather was not particularly kind to us during our stay, we were out each day and all our holiday needs were met!

Truly magical!

Lovely, clean, light and airy home from home. Our week was lovely, house was fabulous and very homely. Thank you to the owners for a superb holiday. I now have to deal with my Three children who all wish we were still there!! Thank you.

Fantastic Appin Holiday

Yes, the weather was fantastic, but our family holiday to the Weat coast of Scotland was enhanced by our spacious accommodation and warm welcome bestowed upon us from Dennis. The description of the cottage was very accurate, two spacious lounges, the top one with spectacular views. Large grounds for the kids to play in and great bedrooms with comfy beds. Great location, a short walk to the local shop and a hidden beach with rock pools and sand for the kids to enjoy and explor. Dennis was superb, ensuring we had a great welcome package after the long drive and was ever helpful with links to local attractions prior to the holiday. We will defiantly be back, as for recommending this to anyone else, we've already told the rest of our family to go there, what else can we say!
