Beautiful rural setting. The stone built cottage is adjacent to the farmhouse with full central heating included in the price. There is a shop in Low Bentham 1 mile away and many shops in the market town of High Bentham almost 2 miles away. Lancaster is 13 miles west and Kendal 23 miles north. The cottage is ideally situated for exploring all that the area has to offer. The Forest of Bowland is to the south, the Yorkshire Dales to the east (Ingleborough and 'Three Peaks' area 4 miles away), the Howgills and the Lake District to the north and the coast 15 miles to the west.

Notes on accommodation: Extremely comfortable and up to date facilities, full central heating. Constant hot water. Outside: Ample parking outside cottage door. Spectacular landscaped gardens extending to almost 1 acre with ponds and many other features. There are sitting out areas, with garden seats and tables. Situated in 130 acres of grassland, with connecting local footpaths. Utility Room: A washing machine and dryer are provided and there are deep freeze facilities in an adjoining building. Secure storage is available for bicycles. Linen is provided. Towels and tea towels can be hired for a small fee if required. The property is thoroughly cleaned and linen changed after each letting. Other: There is a 'games' room on the ground floor with table and chairs and a large selection of games, books, videos and DVD's.

Excellent property

Lovely property with beautiful gardens and surrounding land. Thought it might be a bit strange being next door to the owners but they were lovely and we hardly saw them anyway. Plenty to do in the area, some great sights and walks. Thank you for a great holiday.

Great hosts and beautiful setting

One of the best places we've stayed. Cottage recently decorated and well presented. All necessities provided, great shower and beds. Garden really beautiful and access across pastures to village. Lovely but not intrusive hosts. Easy access to a lot of places. Bathroom is on a different floor to bedrooms is only minor gripe.

We had a wonderful holiday. Good accommodation. good weather.

Our overall view was one of a very pleasant area, the views were superb, the weather was good, and our host was a delight to speak to. One thing that needs to be borne in mind with the property is that it is an upside down house. Toilets on the ground floor and the accommodation ie. kitchen, lounge and bedrooms upstairs. This would not suit some people who find it difficult to get up and down stairs especially during the night. The gardens were an absolute joy to spend time in.

Had a lovely time with grandchildren and dogs. Beautiful well equipped cottage in stunning gardens. Perfectly situated for walking and all amenties.. Two pubs close by, ate in The Sundial, limited choice but very nice food and perfect host.

Walking: Innumerable opportunities for walking of all kinds and difficulty either from the cottage door or within easy reach.

Cycling: Very good cycling country for all levels of ability. Excellent local mountain biking with a full range of technical challenges on a wide variety of terrain.

Bird Watching: Woods, moorland, river valleys, coastal estuaries, the vast expanse of Morecambe Bay, and RSPB sanctuary at Leighton Moss (12 miles).

Pot holing: This is one of the main areas for potholing in the UK.

Climbing: Local limestone scars in plenty and much more in nearby Lake District.


Morecambe Bay lies approximately 15 miles to west. There are bird sanctuaries, peaceful estuaries, and coastal walks available.

A non refundable 50% deposit is required at booking and the balance is payable on arrival.

Changeover Day:
Changeover day is Saturday. We request that the cottage is vacated by 10am on the day of departure. New arrivals are welcome any time from 2 pm on the Saturday.

Notes on prices:
Short breaks are available from 3 January to 28 March 2015 and 31 October to 19 December 2015. The charge is £110 for 2 nights and £150 for 3 nights and £45 for each additional night.

Owner's Cancellation Policy

  • 50% refund for cancellations more than 30 days before check-in date.
  • 100% refund for cancellations more than 60 days before check-in date.
  • Service Fee fully refunded on cancellations that qualify for 100% refund.
