House in Whitby, North Yorkshire Moors, England - Perfect Location Close To Beach, Harbour And Town

The Moorings is a large, stylish townhouse in central Whitby which sleeps 12 in 6 double bedrooms (3 double and 3 twin rooms). The house has a contemporary kitchen/diner with oak table seating 12 and two spacious reception rooms each with comfortable seating for 10 people, flat-screen TV and DVD players. The property has 4 shower/bathrooms (one of which is ensuite). There is an attractive courtyard garden with table, seating and a barbecue. The Moorings is in a great location very close to the centre of town with the benefit of lots of shops, cafes, restaurants, pubs, harbour and beach only a few minutes walk away though in a quiet square.The Victorian seaside town of Scarborough is a 40 minute drive and historic town of York an hour away. Dog friendly (up to 2 dogs by prior arrangement for a small additional charge for each animal). The property has its own dedicated private parking space opposite house for up to 3 cars (and further on street parking permits available on request) The house is not suitable for hen or stag groups.

Our changeover day is generally Friday (and we cannot be flexible on this in school holidays) so unfortunately any request for a 7 night booking to start on a Saturday for example is likely to be declined. Outside school holiday periods though we welcome short break bookings of 3 or 4 nights typically starting on a Friday or Monday.

Whitby has become the one of the most popular destinations on the North Yorkshire coast. It is dominated by the cliff top ruins of its 13th century Abbey and famous for its connections with Captain Cook and Dracula. There are many good restaurants locally and numerous very good fish and chips shops including the celebrated Magpie Cafe. There is a good golf course on the cliffs between Sandsend and Whitby. Further to the south is Robin Hoods Bay and the lovely Victorian seaside town of Scarborough (home to the Stephen Joseph Theatre where Alan Ayckbourn premieres all his plays).

A visit to the area would not be complete without a trip to the North Yorkshire Moors (the spectacular scenery was featured on Richard Wilson's 'Great British Drives' programme). The NYMR steam railway operates between Whitby and Pickering taking in some tremendous scenery which featured in the popular television series "Heartbeat" and the James Herriot books.

Though from Yorkshire I now live in London but get back to the area often as we now own 3 holiday properties on the North Yorkshire coast. The Moorings is our latest and we've taken great pleasure in renovating the house throughout to a standard we think our guests will appreciate.

Why Anne Goode chose Yorkshire Moors and Coast

We had been searching for the right house to buy in Whitby for a while when we came across The Moorings. It's in a perfect position right in the heart of Whitby so you can step out of the house and be enjoying a coffee in one of the several delightful cafes within just a couple of minutes. The house also has its own small parking area which as regular visitors to Whitby will know is a major advantage. Despite its central location it's situated in a peaceful, square just far enough away from the hustle and bustle of the town to give visitors the best of both worlds.

Can not recommend this place enough

Our stay in the Moorings was lovely. With 7 adults, 2 kids and one dog there was plenty of space and room for everyone. Just to all be able to sit down and have meals together was a massive +. It has an amazing location you can go straight to the beach, shops, pubs, and restaurants with just a few steps. We never really used the cars. Having 3 parking spaces made it even better, as Whitby can be a busy place to park. I can't recommend this place enough, very clean and tidy and perfect for big families /groups. Amazing Find Just Perfect

This property was nothing short of perfection. Our family always have a pretty Christmas break and I think we have found the perfect one for future stays.

stunning bedrooms

beautiful and clean

beautifully decorated for Christmas.

Two lovely lounges which we used for chill out and TV film and the other one for games.

fab kitchen with everything you need and great table for everyone to sit together.

Fabulous bonus 3 parking spaces.

I cannot rate this property anyou higher to 5 stars but would give it 10.

The moorings was absolutely fantastic for our stay in whitby! It had everything we needed and was a perfect place to escape and relax! The location was brilliant and within walking distance of the centre of whitby. It was one of those holidays where you lost track of the days and felt as if you were there longer than a week. My mother in law had a great time celebrating her 70th at the moorings with all her family.

Beautiful house; stunning location

What a beautifully appointed house for a weekend away in Whitby. We celebrated a special birthday with friends- six couples in all. The owners have created a spacious, light and airy house and have thought of everything. Plenty of bathrooms and a large kitchen that could seat us all. We loved the two living areas- meaning men and women got some time apart too! But both spacious enough to seat us all. The owner dealt with us really efficiently and we found the arrival set up very easy indeed. Great to have parking spaces too, right on the doorstep of the shops, bars and beaches. Very handy and even a bit of a view of the abbey from the attic room. We loved every minute and are already planning a return. The Moorings would be brilliant for families too. Thanks Anne.

Lovely worm house near the center of a great town

4 generations had a great time for the week we stayed.

Loads of independent shops just down the road from the house.

A short walk to the beach.

A good drive out over the moors and a nostalgic day on the North York Moors Railway.

A non-refundable deposit of 25% of the rental fee is payable on booking and the balance will be due 65 days before your stay. In the event you are booking your property in the 8 week period before your stay full payment will be required. Changeover Day:
Changeover day for 7 night bookings is generally Friday. With regret, requests to book 7 nights commencing on other arrival days other than Friday in any school holiday period are likely to be declined. Outside school holiday periods or periods designated as 7 night booking only periods 3 or 4 night short breaks may be requested and these generally commence on Fridays or Mondays. Arrival time is after 3.00 pm on first day of your booking and before 10.00 am on day of your departure

3/4 Night Breaks:

Where minimum stay is indicated as 3 nights it is possible to book a short break of 3 nights commencing on a Friday or Saturday or 4 nights commencing on a Monday or Tuesday and the cost will generally be approximately 75% of the weekly rental rate - please enquire with Owner for a confirmed quote.

All wifi, power, cleaning, bedlinen and towels are included in the cost of your rental.
