Sleeps 12. Large, stylish Townhouse with 6 double bedrooms (3 double and 3 twin rooms) and a contemporary kitchen/diner with oak table seating 12. Two spacious reception rooms each with comfortable seating for 10 people, flat-screen TV and DVD players. 4 shower/bathrooms. Secure courtyard garden with seating. House is very close to centre of town, with lots of shops, cafes, restaurants, pubs, harbour and beach only a few minutes walk away but in a quiet square . Victorian seaside town of Scarborough is a 40 minute drive and historic town of York an hour away. Dog friendly (up to 2 dogs by prior arrangement). Dedicated private parking space opposite house for up to 3 cars (and further on street parking permits available on request). The house is not suitable for hen or stag groups.

Whitby has become the one of the most popular destinations on the North Yorkshire coast. It is dominated by the cliff top ruins of its 13th century Abbey and famous for its connections with Captain Cook and Dracula. There are many good restaurants locally and numerous very good fish and chips shops including the celebrated Magpie Cafe. There is a good golf course on the cliffs between Sandsend and Whitby. Further to the south is Robin Hoods Bay and the lovely Victorian seaside town of Scarborough (home to the Stephen Joseph Theatre where Alan Ayckbourn premieres all his plays).

A visit to the area would not be complete without a trip to the North Yorkshire Moors (the spectacular scenery was featured on Richard Wilson's 'Great British Drives' programme). The NYMR steam railway operates between Whitby and Pickering taking in some tremendous scenery which featured in the popular television series "Heartbeat" and the James Herriot books.

The moorings was absolutely fantastic for our stay in whitby! It had everything we needed and was a perfect place to escape and relax! The location was brilliant and within walking distance of the centre of whitby. It was one of those holidays where you lost track of the days and felt as if you were there longer than a week. My mother in law had a great time celebrating her 70th at the moorings with all her family.

Beautiful house; stunning location

What a beautifully appointed house for a weekend away in Whitby. We celebrated a special birthday with friends- six couples in all. The owners have created a spacious, light and airy house and have thought of everything. Plenty of bathrooms and a large kitchen that could seat us all. We loved the two living areas- meaning men and women got some time apart too! But both spacious enough to seat us all. The owner dealt with us really efficiently and we found the arrival set up very easy indeed. Great to have parking spaces too, right on the doorstep of the shops, bars and beaches. Very handy and even a bit of a view of the abbey from the attic room. We loved every minute and are already planning a return. The Moorings would be brilliant for families too. Thanks Anne.

Lovely worm house near the center of a great town

4 generations had a great time for the week we stayed.

Loads of independent shops just down the road from the house.

A short walk to the beach.

A good drive out over the moors and a nostalgic day on the North York Moors Railway.

A superb holiday house

This was our second visit to 'The Moorings' and as last year we had an absolutely wonderful time. The house is fabulous and perfectly situated close to the shops and restaurants on Skinner Street and within a few minutes walk to the harbour and beach. There is parking which is a must in Whitby! The house is furnished to a very high standard and there is plenty of space for 12 people. I would definitely recommend this property as an excellent place to stay in Whitby and will certainly be returning to 'The Moorings' in the future.

Absolutely lovely

A lovely house ideal for a family gathering or event.Great location super comfortable beds had everything we needed, we were a party of ten with (11 with our trusted hound) and wanted for nothing.Large fridge and freezer nice bbq and terrace outside and car parking outside for three cars as well, this really is a super property and just three minutes walk down to the harbour in lovely Whitby. The owner Anne could not have been more helpful ensuring we had a great stay!I really cannot recommend this house highly enough thanks Anne see again in the future!

From the Owner

We had been searching for the right house to buy in Whitby for a while when we came across The Moorings. It's in a perfect position right in the heart of Whitby so you can step out of the house and be enjoying a coffee in one of the several delightful cafes within just a couple of minutes. The house also has its own small parking area which as regular visitors to Whitby will know is a major advantage. Despite its central location it's situated in a peaceful, square just far enough away from the hustle and bustle of the town to give visitors the best of both worlds.

Nearest Barpub : There are lots of bars and cafes near the house at 100 Metres Nearest Golf : Whitby Golf Course is about 2 miles away at 2 Miles Nearest Train : Whitby Railway Station at 500 Metres Nearest Restaurant : Whitby's top restaurant Ditto is 50 metres away at 50 Metres Nearest Beach : Whitby Beach and harbour are a short walk away at 500 Metres Car: not necessary

Coast/Beach:

Whitby beach which is a glorious long sandy beach is a 5 minute walk from the house.

Distances:

Robin Hoods Bay: 15 minute drive

North Yorkshire Moors: 10 minute drive

Scarborough: 40 minute drive

A non-refundable deposit of £200 is payable on booking and the balance will be due 8 weeks before your stay. In the event you are booking your property in the 8 week period before your stay full payment will be required. A Breakage/Security Deposit of £100 will also be payable when you pay the final balance. This will be refunded to you on satisfactory inspection of the property within 2 weeks of your departure. Up to 2 dogs welcome by prior arrangement with £20 payable per animal per break/week

Changeover day is Friday. Arrival time is after 3.00 pm on first day of your booking and before 10.00 am on day of your departure

Notes on prices:
Where minimum stay is indicated as 3 nights it is possible to book a short break of 3 nights commencing on a Friday or Saturday or 4 nights commencing on a Monday or Tuesday and the cost will generally be approximately 75% of the weekly rental rate - please enquire with Owner for a confirmed quote.
