About Dawn Hillier

Friendly couple in their late 40's who wish for you to have a stress free and memorable holiday.

Have finally made my dream come true and spend 4 months every year in the sunny Dordogne / Lot et Garonne region. I love having holiday makers to stay and want them to have a fabulous time and to see all the amazing sites that this region has to offer.

Dawn Hillier purchased this house in 2009

Why Dawn Hillier chose Perigord Pourpre

When I first saw Courtalou I instantly fell in love with the stonework of the farmhouse and its cottages and the feeling of being away from It all - just being able to see fields and trees. The only noise you can hear is that of a woodpecker or the tree frogs in the woods. To see deer roaming free across the gardens always makes me smile.

Whilst feeling rural, it is still within very easy reach of Villereal with all its shops, bars, restaurants and pharmacy and there are 3 geogous bakeries in Villereal and 1 within walking distance to Montaut for that morning croissant I so enjoy.

The woods at the end of the drive and plenty of cycle paths and footpaths around made it attractive to me yet just jump in the car and there are many beautiful places to visit.

What makes this house unique

Having internet is handy so I am able to communicate with friends and family whilst away for the summer months.

The pool is right opposite the cottages and farmhouse so its easy to nip out whenever you feel like it to have a dip or, to relax on one of the floating armchairs in the pool.

There is a good library of dvd's and books so if you just want to stay in one night, cuddle up and watch a good movie its easy to do so.

There are games and puzzles in each gite which are fun to play with friends and family.

If you fancy a bit of sport, there is table tennis and basketball on site too.

10 minutes up the road you can visit the manmade beach and crystal clear lake which all ages of children and adults alike can enjoy including the hire of pedeloes.

Peace and Quiet

  • 5 of 5

We have visited Courtalou on several occasions in our car with our dog and on the motorbike without the dog! We have always had a great welcome from Dawn and found the gite spotless and with everything in it we could wish for. The surrounding area was stunning and the pool very inviting after a day of exploring the many villages and countryside. We found Courtalou very quiet and relaxing and look forward to a future visit.

Owner's Response: Its always lovely to have you to visit. I'm losing count now but think it may be 5 possibly 6 times!! Great to see Freddie too (the doggie) he is always pleased to see me and I think he remembers the walks and routes now! See you soon we hope.

This exceeded our expectations in every way. The host, Dawn was warm, welcoming and helpful throughout without being 'obviously present', nothing was too much trouble.

The accommodation was quite simply my dream home, and spotless too. This time I went with my partner and his child but went the year before with a girlfriends. Both holidays were fabulous. I daresay we will be back again soon possibly with the entire family...all nine of us!

Owner's Response: Lovely to have you a second time. I do hope you will come again with all the children once they are practised with flying !! I took Karen to the local horse riding stables near Monpazier and Helen the teacher was keen to mention to Karen that she has many courses available for beginners through to advanced riding including horse whispering. Karen went two days on the trot !! she had so much fun there. If anyone wishes to have a hack through the pine woods or a lesson I can easily arrange this for you.
