From the moment you arrive till your reluctant departure you will love this place. The setting and ambience are perfect and the rooms are slowly being transformed by the new owners into stylish havens of luxury. The courtyard is the most perfect place for an evening drink and the delicious breakfast is served in the sunny dining room . The swimming pool is the perfect place to unwind after a busy day visiting the local markets or exploring the archeology and of course Carcassonne itself. Cannot wait to go back and cannot recommend highly enough!

This Domaine always had a good reputation - but now, under the new ownership of Denise and Michael, the decor is vastly improved and the attention to details and the services offered by this couple are truly superb! The newly refurbished "White Room" and its adjoining bathroom in the main house, is a joy to behold- extremely stylish, and very comfortable. Denise has wonderful taste and her attention to detail is second to none. Michael is a superb "mine host"!
The property, gites and grounds are most attractive, and over this year, you can look forward to additional high-end styling by Denise, as she works her way through the property, putting her high standard stamp on it. In addition, a new high-class website is online, which really shows off this property., Nothing is too much trouble for Denise and Michael, which is being reflected by the high numbers of bookings being received . Whether staying overnight or in one of the superb gites, you will absolutely love the relaxing aura of this place in the midst of beautiful scenery. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. This is real value for money!
- Chatelaine, from Trausse, France (Stayed May 2014)
The Domaine du Palatz is a very quaint and charming bed & breakfast owned and run by The Drinkwater family. This lovely place is a most relaxing home away from home that fits beautifully into the panoramic countryside of the Aude region. Our room was clean, cosy and comfortable. The breakfasts were a real spread with freshly baked croissants, cereal, bread, home made jams and made to order eggs.
Though the property is a big attraction, I would say that Denise and Michael are the ones that make the whole experience complete. Their unpretentious, friendly and most accommodating manner is eventually what gives this place five stars. One evening we were too lazy to sit through a meal at a restaurant and when we asked about fast food options in the area, Denise rustled up a delicious lasagne for the kids and invited us to join her barbecue.
It's been a week since we left Denise and Michael at Domaine de Palatz and my two and half year old has already asked twice, 'Where Denise?'. We will just have to visit them again some time soon.
