Villa in Cortijo Moya Nr. Periana, Andalucia, Spain - Peaceful Location, Half An Hour From The Coast

Casa Era and Casa de Correos, originally 2 separate houses, were connected when reformed in 2007 to incorporate 3 reception rooms and a pool with terraces and front gated courtyard leading from the ‘era’, together with 3 bedrooms, the master en-suite. The house is situated at the centre of this small hamlet of 7 properties with car parking in front of the house and views over olive and orange groves towards the surrounding mountains, it is a truly beautiful part of Andalucia. The house retains original features such as fire places, beamed ceilings and a bread oven on the rear terrace. Folding doors lead from the living room to the pool terrace with feature rock outcrop next to the pool. The hamlet is accessed via concrete roads from nearby Periana or Mondron, which have bars, restaurants and shops. It is ideal for a holiday "away from it all", yet still within reach of the coast and historic Spanish towns and cities. Torre del Mar, the nearest coastal town is 35 minutes drive away and has a very clean, well -maintained beach plus a promenade with beach bars, restaurants and shops.The popular resort of Nerja is 45 minutes away. Nerja has a very Spanish feel, with the Balcon de Europa being a particular attraction. Burriana Beach to the east of Nerja offers a wide variety of water sports. There are also many small beaches and pretty coves in this area; it is less commercialised than the coast to the west of Malaga. Moyà is also a great base for exploring the Spanish cities of Malaga, Córdoba and Granada. Malaga is an hour away by car, and has recently had huge investment in a new marina with an excellent range of shops and restaurants and the Pompidou Centre. There are fantastic museums including the Picasso Museum, Thyssen Museum and the automobile museum in the old tobacco factory, which combines vintage cars with artwork and fashion. Malaga also has beaches, with traditional chiringuitas serving fresh fish and seafood. Granada has the world-famous Alhambra (book ahead as tickets are limited in order to preserve the buildings) and Córdoba the amazing Mezquita, a combination of mosque and Christian church. Both places are steeped in history and only just over an hour's drive away through stunning mountain scenery. Seville is a littler further distant, but worth an overnight stay in order to enjoy the cathedral - which contains the tomb of Christopher Columbus, the Alcazar Real and its gardens, plus the culture and cuisine. For quieter pursuits, the hamlet is also close to National Parks where there are walks through pine forest, cycling and horse-riding trails. Please note - the house is not suitable for families with small children. Car hire is essential. We recommend the use of Bienvenue for wifi.

Travel:

Both Malaga and Granada airports are around 1 hour's drive from Moya. Car hire is essential.

Distances:

Mondron is the nearest village and is a twenty five minute walk from the house passing olive and orange groves on both sides of the track. There is a small bar and shop there. Periana is about two miles away, which is only about 5 minutes by car

There is an excellent open air public swimming pool in Vinuela, open in July and August, which is a 15 minute drive from the house.

Changeover Day:
Changeover days are flexible. Our agent will meet guests in Periana and take them to the house. The charge for this is included in the rental unless the arrival is outside of normal hours, in which case there would be an additional charge, payable locally

Payment by Paypal to jwarsop@yahoo.com preferred. 20% deposit on booking to confirm reservation, balance payable 6 weeks before start of rental period. For bookings made less than 6 weeks in advance, full payment is required at the time of booking to confirm the reservation.

  • Outside: At the front of Casa Era is a private gated courtyard, with terracing at the rear of the house and further terracing around the private pool area. A table and chairs are situated on the rear terrace, which is ideal for barbecuing and eating outside. Loungers are also provided for guests to relax and enjoy the sunshine. Utility Room: Separate utility room with washing machine and fridge/freezer Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and linen are included (not beach towels) and are changed weekly. The property is cleaned in between lets.
