Many thanks Robin & Shelagh for allowing us to stay in your lovely chalet. It was fantastic to see another part of France. The surrounding area was stunning with beautiful views. Can’t wait to revisit.

DI & MIKE 13TH SEPTEMBER 2011

The modernized property provide every thing one could wish for in modern facilities. These facilities were excellent also for disabled people. Evenings spent on the balcony watching the sun go down were idyllic, to watch the sun come up again at breakfast time, was even better. Hope to come again and relax again.

Alison, Pete, Ellie and Stacey 2nd September 2012

It is a beautiful holiday home, very comfortable and well equipped. Your recommendations were great:- we canoed down the Dordogne to Brivesac with Apache canoes, and spent another fun day at Aubazine doing Acrobranche. We also loved the caves at Padirac and the beautiful restaurant and Gardens on the lake at Auriac. We also spent lots of time at 'le Splash', so the kids loved it and so did the adults.

Thank you Robin and Shelagh for sharing Le Chalet with us. We had a super week exploring the area and using your suggestions for visits. The house is a lovely, very well equipped base, a real home from home.

Had a great week. Weather was tremendous - dare I say too hot!

Lunch at local Auberge was good, trip to Jardin Sothys also good, lunch in their café good too. Lovely cottage well set up. Hopefully we will return to this idyllic spot again.

Sally, John and family(3 children) August 2014

The children loved playing on the swings and running around the meadow. The Chalet is well equipped for family living and there is plenty to do and see in the locality.

Beautiful Chalet in Fantastic location

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic holiday at this lovely chalet, on the edge of a small village in a rural location but with all the basic amenities that you would need. The Chalet was idea for us as a family of four with my son in a wheelchair. He was able to access all the downstairs and outside spaces, the bathroom was great. We spent many lazy days on the terraces enjoying the sunshine, views and peace & quiet. This is a gem.

Owner's Response: We are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us. Guests are often surprised that there is so much on offer especially the proximity of the shop/bakery, auberge and post office. The property is in a quite position on the edge of the village yet there are plenty of places of interest and beaches close by. Robin and Shelagh Wilcox.

DELIGHTFUL CHALET

  • 5 of 5

The Chalet looked even better when seeing the real thing than it had in the pictures on the web site, on the edge of the village with a lovely view from the terrace, and very well equipped. We are grateful to the owners for all their help and suggestions to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. We would definitely recommend the property. The village too is delightful with post office, small but well equipped village store, Auberge and beautiful views, including distant mountains. We had many lovely walks directly from the Chalet as well as some further afield. The town of Argentat, 20 minutes drive away, has many good restaurants including the superb Saint-Jacques where we went to celebrate a birthday - not a picturesque setting, but the food was exquisite. The quay at Argentat is so pretty with a number of places to eat, and the Logis Hotel Le Sablier du Temps was very welcoming - to the extent that having had a very good lunch there we were able to use their swimming pool for the rest of the afternoon. There is also a good public outdoor pool on the outskirts of Argentat open from 1 July till end August. Beaulieu-sur-Mer is another idyllic looking town not too far away on the river with its buildings reflected in the water. The Menu du Jour is a good value choice at any of the restaurants, and we enjoyed many during our days out in the beautiful countryside and gems of villages!

Just perfect for relaxing

  • 4 of 5

This year was our 3rd visit. As the advert said, the area is very beautiful and there are lots of walks you can do from the house.

It is well equipped and comfortable. The terrace area is just great for eating out as the sun shines on it most of the day.

great accommodation

  • 4 of 5

Chose this gite based on its wheelchair access and it did not disappoint. The shower room could do with a better shower chair and grab rails but apart from that it is a great place. Loved spending time on the decking and the local auberge served up great food. Would recommend to disabled travellers.

grezt gite

  • 4 of 5

Chose this gite based on it being wheelchair accessible and it did not disappoint. The shower room needed a better shower chair and grab rails but apart from that everything was fine. The decking was great and ate every meal outside, the local auberge also served up pretty decent food. Lovely area and would recommend it to other disabled travellers.

Location

From the Owner

The Correze is often described as France's best kept secret. Having spent several holidays touring France in our caravan we discovered this secret for ourselves and bought our own little piece of it. Outside: Le Chalet is set in an acre of land, most of which is laid to meadow. The Driveway has space for 3 cars to the front of Le Chalet. An Undercover Patio area adjacent to the front door provides a shady sitting out area and is pleasant even when it rains. The Terrace, which is on the South of Le Chalet, is a 8mx3m wood decked area with table, six upright chairs, 4 reclining chairs and 2 wind out sun shades. Perfect for a gin & tonic to watch the sunset! Steps lead down to a purpose built barbeque and to a garden swing. The swings are available for the use of children up to the age of ten years old, at your own risk. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Bed Linen and Towels are provided and are changed every week during longer stays. We ask occupants to leave the accommodation as they found it or we can organize a cleaning service at the end of your stay, for an additional fee.
