About David and Gabrielle Maddison

We have lived in Brittany, France since 2000, but have always had strong links with the West Country, where we lived before we left the UK This is our own holiday home and used by us in out of season months to visit family, and is therefore well cared for, well maintained and well equipped.

Unfortunately, we can't stay here all the time as our work and business is now based in France, so we offer it to holidaymakers who want a conveniently located base to explore this beautiful and fantastic part of the country.

We want you to enjoy the lodge as much as we do and hope that you fall in love with Cornwall too.

Guestbook comments from the manager

We had a lovely weekend in Lodge 52. Clean and bright and beautifully furnished, complete with hot tub we walked the Moors by day and relaxed in the hot tub in the evening under the stars. We were very pleasantly surprised by the quality and presentation of the lodge and the rustic views from the windows. The lodge had a very well equipped kitchen and smart, modern family and en-suite bathrooms. One night we stayed it was quite chilly, and we were very glad of the central heating which made the whole lodge comfortable in minutes. The lodge was more private than many and the site as a whole has a charm not often found on holiday sites such as this. The staff were friendly and helpful, the pool balmy and warm, a joy to swim in. All in all, we had a very successful stay and will return-there is so much more to see and do in the area, including some prime National Trust sites and of course, the Eden Project. We would highly recommend this lodge.

Perfect for family

  • 5 of 5

As a family with children aged 8 and 4 (and another on the way)I can not recommend this property any more highly. Set in a very quiet part of the park and looking over fields. It is beautifully clean and very well equipped with anything you may need. We loved sitting on the balcony in the mornings and evenings and it was lovely to return to after a busy day and relax in the hot tub before collapsing in front of the TV on the big comfy leather sofas. Two bathrooms also made mornings a lot easier! The park itself is lovely and clean. Two very warm pools (with lifeguards) are perfect for families. The bar serves a large range of food at very reasonable prices and the staff are very friendly. There are pubs nearby which serve food and the locals are extremely friendly and welcoming. There are many places to go to nearby with children. The donkey park is within walking distance and a lovely place to groom donkeys and meet many other animals. It also has a big play barn and outdoor play area. By car visit morwellham quay (20 mins by car) to travel down a mine and dress up as a Victorian, visit many beautiful beaches perfect for picnics and sand castles and try some of the old steam railways. Porfell wildlife park is a lovely place where all the animals have been rescued. The children loved stroking owls, feeding deers and watching the lemurs which are free to roam. We had an amazing holiday and will definitely be returning.

Great Holiday Rental

  • 4 of 5

We had a fantastic 2 week holiday in this lovely holiday rental. It was really comfortable , modern and with everything we needed. The hot tub was a particular favourite to relax in each evening. Private , not overlooked , and a lovely view across the fields.

Ideal location for enjoying cornwall, with everything an hours drive away. Local pubs are fantastic , with good quality food and superb local ales. Cannot speak for the Restaurant on site as we didn't use it , but the bar was very friendly. Cycling at Padstow and Llanhydrock were great fun days .

What a lovely get-away!

  • 5 of 5

Tymadd Lodge is the perfect place to stay if you want a relaxing, near-countryside break away from the city. It's a warming and welcoming home with a view of fields and a small lake from the wooden balcony. The Lodge offers a heated hot tub, which made our stay even better! As a group of 6 girls, we had the life of sunbathing on the decking during the day with drinks and music, and chilling with TV in the evening. The central heating came on at the perfect timings, giving us a breath of fresh air if/when we needed and a warming feeling in the evening. Everything was modern, neat and tidy and the 2 shower rooms were perfect with a group of girls all needing to get ready at the same time. It's homely, quite roomy and made us feel very relaxed throughout the stay. We did not end up leaving the lodge all weekend. The signal/wifi was a little poor... but that was great for keeping us off our phones (as teenagers do!). We didn't venture to the outside pool or entertainment in the evening or day time so we cannot comment on that, but we do thank you for our lovely stay and we hope to come back again one day. Thank you!
