Villa Mireille Upper Floor Sleeps 8 (3 Bedrooms)

Sleeps 6-8. 3 bedrooms (one en suite) with double beds, plus a sofa bed in the living room. Travel cot is also provided. Well-equipped Modern kitchen with dishwasher, fridge/freezer, coffee machine, electric cooker. Well stocked with cutlery, crockery and cooking utensils. Two bathrooms and two toilets. Two terraces with furniture. Air-conditioning and heating. Bed linen and towels provided.

Old Menton villa with sea view, close to town and beach. Recently renovated and decorated, both floors have been furnished to be a home and not a sterile holiday flat. Both properties include washing machine, free Wifi, TV/DVD, terrace and amenities to make your stay more comfortable. If we were to describe the house in one sentence it would be "a house with a view", as this was the first thing we fell in love with when we first saw the place! The next thing is the good atmosphere that the house brings to its visitors. We have been renting the house for a couple of years now and visitors have felt at home and enjoyed the atmosphere.

About Edward Hirst

We are a married Anglo-Norwegian couple with two children. We both live and work in Norway and bought the property in Menton to escape from the Scandinavian winters. Marion is a lawyer who lectures at the local college and Ed is a manager in a Norwegian IT company. We have experience in renting property abroad and wanted the place to be one that we would like to rent ourselves. The property has been equipped as a home, rather than just a functional place to stay when on holiday.

Why Edward Hirst chose Menton Area

We had visited Menton on several occasions and decided to look for a place to buy. Menton is a beautiful, vibrant yet peaceful town, which offers a warm climate, a family-friendly beach, good restaurants and proximity to Italy.

Menton has many of the benefits of a town on the Riviera but without being too touristy and too expensive. Menton is famous for its lemons, and hosts a famous lemon-festival in February/march each year. The town is easy to reach by train, car and plane.The nearest airport is Nice, only 30 min. on the train. There is also a regular bus service directly from the airport to Menton. Other towns along the coast can be reached by the local train that runs regularly along the coast. The nearest Italian town is a 10 minute train ride although the border is only 2km away.

What makes this apartment unique

The villa is situated in a calm and peaceful part of Menton. It sits on the hillside which gives it a magnificent view of the sea. We bought the first floor of the property in 2011 and took over the ground floor in December 2013. We had the first completely renovated in 2011 to bring it up to modern standards. The ground floor is being redecorated in Feburary 2014 and will be furnished with new furniture before it is ready for rent in Spring. The house has the attraction of being close to the shops, restaurants and beach, yet it enjoys the quietness of a residential area. Visitors can rent either the ground floor, first floor or both giving accommodation for a maximum of 14 people. The house is spacious, modern, well-furnished and has been equipped as our own home from home.

Coast/Beach:

The beach is 5-10 minutes walking away. The beach is family friendly and is right on the edge of the town. Shops are just in the town, food and drink can be bought in bars and restaurants on the promenade. The beach is patrolled by life-guards, serviced by a medical team.

Travel:

The nearest airport to Menton is Nice. Travel to and from the airport can be made by train to Nice Centre, by private car or taxi, or by a direct bus link. Travel around the region, especially the towns of the Cotes d'Azur, can be reached by the regular coastal train service or bus.

Further Details:

Menton is a thriving seaside town on the Cote d'Azur and on the Italian border. It has the advantage of having all the benefits of the region, but without the excesses of some of the more famous towns along the coast. Menton enjoys a micro-climate which encourages the growth of lemons, for which the town is famous and celebrates with its Lemon Festival in February/March.

Menton has many fine restaurants, an ample choice of bars and cafes, has numerous supermarkets, banks and clothes shops which are open all year round. The town has its tourists and its tourist season, but it is not a tourist town. It is open all year round and retains a normal level of activity outside the traditional tourist seasons. It is a peaceful and calm town which is ideal for family holidays, but access to other towns is easy via the coastal train network which stops at all places between Ventimiglia (Italy) and Cannes, and also beyond.
