The owners have lived in the village of Moreton for six years, when the opportunity of the Manor House came up it was impossible to resist it's charm and potential as a wonderful place for a holiday or celebration. After spending many years staying in similar properties with their children and friends they have used their knowledge and a keen eye for detail to make the Manor a comfortable and inviting place to stay.
They live in a cottage in the village with their two young children and puppy, and keep chickens who provide the fresh eggs in the welcome hamper. They have both grown up in Dorset so have a lot of useful information about the local area should guests need it.
Moreton is a picturesque Dorset village, we love to do the quick walk to the ford for a paddle and a picnic before walking through Moreton Forest spotting wild life and grazing cattle. There is a beautiful church with window engravings by Whistler, Laurence of Arabia is buried in the cemetery which attracts interest from visitors from around the world.
We have an award winning tea rooms which serves the most delicious food and cream teas, dogs are welcome!
There are many beautiful walks and views of the Obelisk deep in the wood.
Dorchester and Wareham are easily accessible and have good shops and farmers markets.
The Manor House is very spacious and is a great place to gather with friends, the reception rooms are very generous in size and there is a place for everyone to enjoy themselves. The tennis court has great views and the garden is enormous with lots of space to play and have fun.
We stayed here when we got married in Dorset and it was the most perfect setting to host all of our friends and family. The house was beautiful and big enough to house us all with lots of room for entertainment and dinners. It helped make it an unforgettable weekend and especially for my family from Canada to get to experience beautiful Dorset!! Would definitely recommend for any big groups as a place to stay!
A perfect place for a family get together. The house has a wonderful 'feel', we all, both young and not so young, loved it. The large spaces meant that we could all hang out together, something that is really important to us. The kitchen was well equipped and gorgeously homely, the games room saw some competition, the sitting room was perfect for a yoga session and the drawing room was great for watching and shouting at the rugby! The grounds are stunning and were enjoyed by all, including the dogs. We made lots of happy memories together.
We hired The Manor House at Moreton for a week in June and it was absolutely brilliant - the house is gorgeous and the lawn was a perfect place to put up a marquee and host our wedding!
The house had everything we could possibly need to enjoy ourselves and Tabitha was incredibly helpful, assisting with requests for extra towels, ladders and a nearby field for cars! We loved every single moment!
A beautiful property with so much going for it. The owners have managed to achieve that difficult thing where it's been decorated to be stunning and country and chic, yet quirky, simple and oh so livable in. I adored the relaxed at home feeling, I could have happily stayed there forever!
Communication in the run up to the stay was regular and professional, with my endless questions (we had a mix of family types staying) being answered quickly, with great flexibility offered.
Everything within the property worked, it was clean and prettily presented, with all the kitchenware and bedding we needed. A supply of cooking staples like tea, coffee and sugar and salt and pepper etc. would be my only recommendation here.
The site had so much to offer with the gardens and tea rooms, the tennis court and open spaces and bbq's. The house itself is spacious and fun to explore, with a piano, games and a pool table. The children were in their element. So close to the seaside too, just a perfect spot.
We had a wonderful stay, a beautiful yet homely spot, with excellent customer service from start to finish from the owners. We'll be back.
We hired the stunning Moreton Manor for our wedding. The countryside views are breath- taking and Harry and Tabitha just couldn't do enough to ensure our weekend was everything we hoped and more.
There were 20 family and friends staying at the manor and, despite the large number there was plenty of room to accommodate us.
The games room went down well with the children and adults alike. The kitchen was stunning and what a treat to cook on an Aga.
There was plenty of crockery and utensils in the kitchen and the living room was comfortable with Sky TV and wonderful local paintings adorning the walls. The fresh flowers were a lovely touch.
Everyone had a comfortable nights sleep and there was plenty of hot water for us all to shower or bath.
Harry and Tabitha were on hand to direct the marquee company etc and ensured that myself and husband had no additional worries.
We would most certainly recommend Moreton Manor to anyone wishing to spend quality time together in a large group. You can even bring the family dog!
Thank you for a superb weekend.
We were reccomended the Manor House through our friends who had stayed the previous year and were delighted to be able to book it for my partners birthday. Large enough to fit all of us and our extended family and still feel roomy and all at a very reasonable price!
I found everything was accurately described and Tabitha, the owner, was always friendly and helpful with suggesting good paces to eat and things to do in the local area.
The property was clean and had everything you would need for a home away from home feel and anything that you didnt have, you only need email and ask.
I would absolutely reccomend the Manor House and we are even currently re-booking for next summer for a longer stay as Moreton really is a stunning place.
The helpfulness of the owners in all our enquiries were exemplary.
On arrival we were greeted with such cheerfulness by the owner - who could not have been more agreeable.
The Manor House was all, if not more than we had hoped for, crisp and clean, wild flowers arranged in pretty little pots in the bedrooms, comfortable, large rooms with everything one needs for a stay away, plenty of equipment thoughout the house, (loved the pantry) the games room, indoors and in the stable provided endless entertainment. The grounds were a country haven for wandering, playing croquette, tennis, or just sitting with a glass of wine.
The added attraction of the walled garden next door, with its beautifully kept flora and fauna and the Dove Cote café for a scrumptious coffee and home made cake....
We had a perfect time with all the family and our guest, enjoying stylish country living, even the canines members of the party were relaxed. We would recommend this to lovers of the country for a special place to stay. We will return!
