A lovely cottage in the heart of the Lake District.

The cottage is situated in the centre of Grasmere Village. Overlooking the village green, it has lovely views of the village and the fells beyond. With an open fire in the lounge, the cottage is cosy and snug in the winter months yet open and airy in the summer. The front of the cottage opens onto the village green which attracts many visitors by day. However, come the late afternoon/early evening, the village becomes sleepy and peaceful once more. With a small yard to the rear of the property, guests have an area to relax and enjoy the dry summer days. (Hopefully!!)

About Michael Jones

I grew up in Grasmere and now run my families B&B here. I lived away for many years but returned to help with the family business and with my grandparents as they grew older. It's a special place to have grown up and I'm now happy to be home again, each season provides a different beauty that never disappoints. (some days do but never entire seasons!). We have worked hard over the past five years to provide the level of accommodation I want to offer and that I believe people deserve. Our genuine desire to exceed our guests expectations at the B&B have been appreciated and now we need to achieve the same level at these two special cottages.

Michael Jones purchased this cottage in 1949

Why Michael Jones chose Windermere & Central Lakes

These two properties have been in my family for many years. My grandparents lived in No.2 Beck Steps for over 65 years and my parents first marital home was No.1 Beck Steps. Both properties are lovingly cared for and we hope they will provide wonderful accommodation for people on their holidays in the Lake District.

What makes this cottage unique

The properties overlook the village green so are convenient for all of the village amenities.

Ideally situated in the centre of the village, they enjoy views of the surrounding hills as well as the added convenience of being central.

Both properties have a parking space which makes access extremely easy.

We do accept short breaks ( so please feel free to email, your requests)

Changeover Day:
Changeover Day is Saturday but we do consider long weekend or midweek bookings in the winter season. (Minimum of 3 nights.) Arrival is from 4pm and departure by 10.30pm please.

Notes on accommodation: Lounge: The lounge is at the front of the cottage and overlooks the village green and Silver Howe. A cosy room with an open fire, two seater leather sofa with an easy chair, 32" TV with Freeview & DVD, coffee table. Free Wi-Fi. Kitchen: To the rear of the property with a table and chairs for three to dine. Microwave, Fridge with freezer draw, toaster, kettle, hob, grill & oven. Bedroom: The large master bedroom has a king size bed and is located at the front of the property with views towards Silver Howe. The bedroom at the rear has a double bed and has views towards Stone Arthur. Bathroom: The bathroom is located downstairs behind the kitchen. It has a bath with shower, a toilet, sink and heated towel rail. Amenities/facilities: Parking at the rear, garden, store shed, washing machine, TV, DVD player, microwave, iron & board, central heating, open fire. Outside: There is a yard to the rear of the property where you can sit and relax on the patio set. An out house is available to store any outdoor gear including bikes and rock climbing equipment. Private Parking is situated to the rear of the property. (number 2)

Fantastic cottage, superb location

We (family of 3) have been staying in the Lakes region every year for many years. By far this is the best place - central location, spacious, well equipped, very fast Wi-Fi, walking distance to shops, restaurants, storage area for bikes,etc.

Allocated car park space is a bonus.

Will be back next year.

Great cottage!

What a lovely cottage in a great location. The decoration is simple and stylish. The beds are very comfortable with great views and a sunny aspect. Walks right on your doorstep and lovely places to eat and shop too! A wonderful base for a weekend away or a proper relaxing holiday. My only complaint… I wanted to stay longer!

Great stay and fab hospitality

Just returned from a lovely 3 night stay with my best friend and 16 year old goddaughter. The cottage is of a very high specification with 2 good sized comfortable bedrooms, ideally located for walking to the local shops and restaurants with an added bonus of a parking space at the rear of the cottage. Mike has put a lot of thought into the furnishings decor of the cottage to make it feel true to the Lake District style but also contemporary to suit the expectations of today and he has pitched it just right. He was also the perfect host and nothing was too much trouble. We had a sneak look at the cottage next door which Mike is renovating, the attention to detail and the specification is second to none and a return visit will be made. Well done Mike and family on making 2 perfect boltholes in Grasmere.

Really comfortable cottage and so conveniently located right in the centre of lovely Grasmere village. We were the first to stay there and really enjoyed our stay. Really good specification bathroom and kitchen. Cosy lounge with open fire and a really comfortable bed in main bedroom. The owner Mike was extremely helpful - all in all would recommend it to all our friends.

Location

Travel:

Air: The nearest international airport is Machester, aproximately 95 miles away.

By Car: From the South, leave the M6 motorway at junction 36 and take A590/A591. On the first roundabout at Grasmere, go left into the village.

From the North, leave the M6 exit junction 40 and head towards Keswick then Grasmere. Turn right into the village at the Swan Hotel.

Train: Nearest Train Station is Windermere. The 555 bus service connects directly to Grasmere.
