About Roger Clayton

After I retired in 2011, we wanted to purchase a holiday home in a warm climate but were struggling with location. A family holiday in Tourrettes settled the location but then we needed to find a house with views, land, a large pool and privacy without isolation. We concluded the purchase of Villa Jacaranda in December 2013 and then painted, decorated and furnished through April, May and June of 2014, finishing just in time to welcome our first guests in July 2014. We are delighted with our purchase and so far, our enthusiasm for this modern, stylish and magnificently located property has been shared by all our clients.

Roger Clayton purchased this villa in 2013

Why Roger Clayton chose Tourrettes

Traditionally built to a modern design, Villa Jacaranda benefits from large patio doors and windows which overlook the medieval town of Tourrettes to the west. The 180 degree panorama includes fine views of the mountains to the north and Les Adrets and St Paul en Foret to the south.

The large pool is conveniently located adjacent to the large terrace near the house with lovely views of the surrounding mountains

What makes this villa unique

Magnificent views over the medieval village of Tourrettes.

Very light and airy house with large windows offering lovely views and lots of space

Notes on accommodation: The accommodation is very flexible - with bedroom 4 and adjacent second sitting room/bedroom 5 suitable for a second family or teenagers. The sofa-bed in the second sitting room/bedroom 5 can increase the sleeping accommodation providing none of the occupants demands too much privacy. The entire house has underfloor heating as well as a log burner. The pool can also be heated in the winter months (at client's cost). The house is very suitable for children with a removable guard fence and electronic alarm on the swimming pool area. Board games are provided. The gardens are large but quite steeply sloping. Outside: In the summer we hope you’ll spend most of your time outside. The 10m x 5m pool is a major feature of the house, sharing spectacular views of the valley with the main terrace where there is a large gas-fired bar-be-que and separate dining area with a huge marble table for up to 12 which can be shaded from the sun. The sunsets over Tourettes are spectacular and best enjoyed with a glass of local wine on the terrace. The house is approached via wrought iron gates and is surrounded by around 1.7 acres of terraced gardens. This valley used to be used for growing flowers for the perfumiers of Grasse, so there’s an amazing ancient system of canals that feeds our automatic irrigation system. There is a double carport and plenty of parking space. Utility Room: The basement houses a laundry room with washing machine, dryer and large fridge/freezer, a boiler room and a vast unconverted room currently used for table tennis. This has double doors opening onto the lower terrace. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Bathroom and pool towels, weekly linen change and cleaning included

Unbelievably perfect villa in Provence

  • 5 of 5

I booked Villa Jacaranda nearly a year in advance. I wanted somewhere to spend for a month to celebrate my first summer in retirement. I made the booking based on the description and the photographs on the Owners Direct website. I was going to be there with my wife, her two daughters aged 14, going on 18, and my daughter who would have her 13th birthday there.

As soon as we arrived we all fell in love with the place, it was even better than we had imagined. The view from the terrace is breathtaking and as the sun moves round (well yes I do know the earth moves round the sun) the colours on the hillside opposite change.

We were joined by other members of the family throughout the month and it was very comfortable for 9.

We explored the area and once we had found the back road to Fayence we drove there regularly, it's a lovely town.

There are so many places to visit, easily accessible by car. We went to Nice, Villefranche, Cannes, St Tropez and many more of the beautiful places on the Côte d'Azur as well as visiting local spots like the village of Mons and Lac St Cassien. A month wasn't enough to get the full benefit of the location.

The villa is very comfortable and extremely well-equipped. There is plenty of space to relax in the sun or in the shade and we spent several days just lazing round the pool.

Anyone who books this villa could not possibly be disappointed. Even our sceptical girls loved it!

A perfect holiday

  • 5 of 5

It exceeded all our expectations with spacious rooms for our large party of 9, all beautifully equipped and decorated. The pool and terrace were fabulous and eating out at the huge marble table, overlooking stunning views, was a daily delight. In the evening, we swam in the pool or sat in comfort on the terrace, watching the stars appear, while drinking the local rose. We were truly relaxed and very well looked after by Pascal, who was very helpful and friendly. Exploring the nearby towns and villages was a pleasure and we met many friendly locals. We would recommend Villa Jacaranda highly and can't wait to return.

Outstanding Holiday Villa

  • 5 of 5

This was our third visit to this area of France and every year the holidays just get better. This Villa was outstanding in every aspect.

From the moment we contacted the owner to book the villa, the agent (Pascal) who dealt with us on arrival to the villa itself - every experience was fantastic.

The holiday at this villa has to be one of the most enjoyable family holidays we have ever had. The photographs on the website cannot convey how breath taking the views from the patio and pool are. The Villa is really well equipped and it perfectly located for any activity you would wish to try. OR, as we did, spend hours lounging by the fantastic pool. If you and yours are looking for a great villa experience in the South of France you would find it hard to better this one. Our only regret was that we couldn't have stayed for another week (or two!)

Beautiful Villa, Wonderful Views

  • 5 of 5

This was our first holiday in a villa and feel very spoilt by the accommodation, location and views. We were a family of six adults, a teenager and two seven year olds. The pool is excellent, it's big enough to swim in whilst the children play. The views are outstanding and the location is private and peaceful without being too remote. The accommodation is really spacious, tastefully decorated and furnished, inside and out. You definitely need a car but if you are of general good fitness, a brisk walk will take you to the beautiful village of Tourrettes (about 25mins) and a further 5mins to Fayence, where there are plenty of shops/bars/restaurants. Although the walk is very pleasant, we chose to drive to Fayence in the evening as we felt the return walk was a little too much for the little ones. Fayence has a huge, free car park so parking was never an issue. We visited many places along the coast, all within about 60 to 90 minutes away (due to peak season traffic, 40mins in less busy times) and explored the Verdon Gorge. We also spent a lot of time at the Lac de Cassien where we hired pedalos and boats (about 10mins by car). We found the hire charges cheap (about 10 Euros for a pedalo for half an hour). There is also an area with huge inflatable's that you can climb/slide off/fall off!!! Again this was really good value for money at 5Euros for half an hour. You can also swim in the lake and the food was really good and cheap! The agent and owner were both really helpful. There is plenty of information in the villa on the surrounding area, things to do etc. We spent more time in the villa than we anticipated as it was so ideal for our family and would highly recommend it. The quality and the location of the villa gave us a perfect family holiday.

Lovely villa with amazing views.

  • 5 of 5

We've just returned from a gorgeous 2 weeks at villa Jacaranda, comfortable, spacious and with the best views in the area. There was plenty of room for our large family group. We were very well informed by the owners beforehand and very well looked after by the local manager, Pascal, while we were there.

There's lots to do locally; a short hop to a beautiful lake for swimming, pedalos, canoes etc. There are lots of lovely villages to visit with typically Provencal markets and restaurants, some perched high with amazing views to the coast. Plus all the attractions of the Cote D'Azur under an hour away. But really you will just want to stay at home, lounging on the huge terrace, swimming in the lovely pool and just gazing at the fabulous view with a glass of wine until the sun goes down over the mountains.

Stunning view, airy modern villa

  • 5 of 5

The 180 degree views over to Fayence and surrounds really make this a special villa to relax in. We spent two fantastic weeks here with 4 children under 11 and it was safe (pool area is securely fenced), with utility room for inevitable laundry, loads of fridge space & with plenty of room inside & out for everyone to relax or run around!

The charming property manager, Pascal clearly explained the villa to us and was just a call away for help. The villa was easy to locate, spotlessly clean & is furnished as new- comfortably with great quality linen and towels and a good range of cooking equipment & a BBQ (you must try Merguez sausages)!

It is the perfect base from which to explore this beautiful area - we've been visiting for a decade and Villa Jacaranda is top of our list for views, ease of access to supermarkets & all round relaxing - especially to watch the sun sink behind the hills with an ice cold glass of local rosé.

You'll need a car but the hill up to the villa makes a perfect morning hike to wear off any overindulgence!

Roger the owner was prompt and professional in answering any queries and for completing the booking process. I highly recommend this villa.

The nearest beach is at St Raphael, but all of the beaches of the Cote D'Azur are within easy driving distance. The Lac de Cassien is also within about 15 mins drive and and offers watersports - windsurfing, rowing, pedaloing, swimming and fishing.

Nice International Airport is a 45 minute drive. We recommend hiring a car from the airport or in Fayence. By car Fayence is approximately 1,200km from Calais via motorway to Aix-en-Provence and then on towards Nice.

The high speed TGV train service links Paris or Lille with Marseille or Nice.

The house is a 5 minutes drive (or a 20 minutes walk) from the shops and restaurants of Fayence which adjoins Tourettes. The A8 (Junction 39) is about 15 mins drive. This gives access to Frejus and St Tropez to the West, Cannes, Nice and Monte Carlo to the East. We suggest hiring a car from Nice Airport or Fayence.

Further Details:

Fayence has a number of very good restaurants and is a 5 mins drive. There are 3 large supermarkets within 10 mins drive. Fayence airfield is acknowledged as one of Europe's leading gliding centres.
