Overview

About the property

Bungalow in the town of Rochechouart, Haute Vienne, Limousin - within the historic town with wonderful rural countryside surrounding the area

The property was renovated in 2013 and is well equipped with modern furnishings and equipment. It has gas central heating as well as a wood burning stove in the lounge making it a cosy winter retreat. The large level garden is well laid out and has mature trees and shrubs. In summer a number of trees bear different fruit. It is a perfect place to enjoy the French way of life as the town of Rochechouart has many fine boulangeries where you can take a short stroll to buy croissants, pain and patisserie. There is a bank, a library and a Cave where you can choose from a range of wines. There is also a large choice of excellent restaurants and bars. The medieval château is now an interesting Art gallery and overlooks pretty countryside and a lake. A major attraction for visitors to the area are the "Lacs de Haute Charente" where you can enjoy fishing, swimming, water sports and the man-made sandy beaches.

About Patricia Bradshaw

Our daughter Tammy lives nearby with her husband Julian and her daughter Jessica. They moved over to France ten years ago and fell in love with the way of life. My husband Chris and I have stayed with them many times over the years and decided that now we were retired we would buy a property near to them. We felt it was perfect to serve both ourselves and our clients with a wonderful holiday home.

Patricia Bradshaw purchased this bungalow in 2013

Why Patricia Bradshaw chose Rochechouart area

Rochechouart is the ideal location as it is near to Limoges airport and has all the charm of a French Chateau town with beautiful walks in the surrounding area. The site is not overlooked and is quiet yet within short walking distance of shops, bars and restaurants. There is a great choice of restaurants for visitors to enjoy sampling the fine cuisine.

What makes this bungalow unique

The swimming pool is a huge bonus to the property! It has a large patio area that is ideal for sunbathing and relaxing. The barbeque and outside eating area is close to the kitchen making dining al fresco so easy. Rochechouart has lots of music festivals and the Confolons Danse and music festival is held in August. The firework display at nearby Oradour sur Vayres at the end of July is a superb spectacle.

Guestbook comments from the owner

"We had not stayed in this town before, but were just so impressed - it's so much livelier than many French places and has everything one could ask for. This charming property also has everything one could require for a fabulous stay - the two bedrooms are spacious, the kitchen and bathroom are beautifully renovated and very modern. The living areas are also roomy and well equipped with modern appliances. The whole place is kept spotlessly clean and well maintained. Grounds and gardens are enormous and of course the large private swimming pool is a great bonus and not usually found in this type of accommodation. Everything was lovely and we therefore had a marvellous time. The location is also excellent - a five minute walk into the town for baguettes and croissants each morning - divine! This home (and town) just has a happy feel about it which rubs off - we laughed a lot and left reluctantly. We will most certainly be back - hopefully for longer next time! "

Fabulous

This was our second visit to this fantastic holiday destination where we had another amazing time.

The bungalow is perfect - comfortable, clean and has everything you need

The pool area is a dream - peaceful, private and relaxing

The owners were very helpful when booking and their daughter was 'on-hand' when we were in France -always a friendly face

The situation of the property is close to a lovely town which has a range of restaurants and shops.

There are tracks to walk and run on at your doorstep - the country side is beautiful

Further a field, there are many interesting places to visit and activities to enjoy such as canoeing, tree climbing,go karting and biking

A beautiful place to relax in and escape

Perfect house in a perfect town

  • 5 of 5

Had the most perfect relaxing stay in this house. We have stayed in many houses in France and a few in this area. This property is by far the best. Was clean and well equipped . We loved the small town and enjoyed being able to walk to the many restaurants in town, all we would recommend. Once in the house it was lovely and peaceful. The weather was wonderful and we enjoyed the lovely very private pool. We have already contacted the owners and booked for next yesr

Secluded Getaway

  • 4 of 5

This bungalow is a terrific find. The accommodation is excellent and outside space exceptional. Although near the town, once on the property it was quiet and tranquil. Tammy and Julian the owners representatives were superb, and were keen to ensure our stay was perfect for us. This property is not really possible for disabled holiday makers, however just a few changes would include this group very easily. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the pool was a tremendous bonus. Would highly recommend it and hope that Chris and family are successful in their holiday enterprise.

Property in Rochechouart

  • 4 of 5

Rochechouart is a pleasant small town with several restaurants and plenty of shops for everyday needs. The rented property was clean, comfortable and well-equipped. The British owners' daughter lives in the area and was very helpful. An added bonus was the Sky TV so that we were able to watch the World Cup matches on BBC and ITV.

We recommend this property to anyone seeking a relaxing holiday.

JUST LOVED THIS PLACE!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay here - had everything we needed and the village was great. We spent 7 nights here and had a good wander around the surrounding areas. Don't miss Orodour Sur Glane (but expect to be very moved). There was also a great BBQ night at a local village called Champagnac - lots of expats, mostly British, come out to play!

This property has a clean, modern kitchen and bathroom, 2 good size bedrooms and a swimming pool and BBQ area - all well kept and working fine.

We will return!
