About the property

Cottage in Sheringham, North Norfolk, England - Just two minutes from the beach, five minutes from the town. Small private patio garden.

CLOVER COTTAGE is an end-terrace traditional brick and flint cottage, recently renovated to a high standard. There is off street parking and a small, private back garden with flower beds and space for a barbecue. It is ideally suited for the beach, the town of Sheringham - with its shops, museum & steam train - and all the charms of the coast, including sailing at Blakeney with trips to see the seal colonies, Cley with its famous windmill, the pier at Cromer and the Georgian market town of Holt, all within a short drive.

Because of allergy concerns we do not allow pets or smoking inside at the cottage.

The minimum stay is 7 days, changeover only on Saturdays.

There is a drop in the back garden of approximately 3 feet, only partially guarded by lobster pots and plant pots. Very young children should not be left unattended.

The maximum occupancy is four people.

The stairs are rather steep and narrow. However, they are well lit and there is a handrail and partial banister so should not present a problem to anyone of average fitness.

There are two bedrooms; each has a double bed.

About Jonathan Izard

I am a psychotherapist with a busy private practice and a newsreader on the BBC World Service but I try to get to Sheringham as often as I can to relax and breathe the fresh sea air. But I'm happy for others to use Clover Cottage to enjoy all the charms and attractions of this very special part of the country.

Jonathan Izard purchased this cottage in 1996

Why Jonathan Izard chose Sheringham

As a child I spent all my summer holidays on the beach at Weybourne as my family would rent one of the coastguard cottages there. Consequently this part of the North Norfolk Coast has many happy memories for me. Clover Cottage belonged to my mother and used to be fairly basic but in the last couple of years we've improved it with new central heating, new kitchen, new bathroom, new windows and so on. It's now a lovely place to spend the odd weekend or midweek break with friends or alone. Whether walking on the cliffs in the wind, browsing in the shops, visiting nearby attractions or just sitting in the sunshine in the back garden with the Sunday papers, Sheringham is still a very special place. I hope you will love it as much as I and my family do.

What makes this cottage unique

Clover Cottage has off-street parking, which is rare for a cottage in this location. There is also a small, private back garden ideal for a barbecue or soaking up the sun. The beach is only 300 yards away, about a 2 minute walk. And the town centre, with its shops, theatre, cafes - and of course the steam train - is about 5 minutes away.

Guestbook comments from the owner

"We had a brilliant stay in Clover cottage. It's 2 minutes walk to the beach and about 3 minutes walk to the centre of Sheringham.

The driveway and parking space is a massive bonus. The cottage is very well equipped, both inside and out, and the owner kept us well informed during every step of the booking process. We would definitely recommend this cottage to a couple or small family looking for an enjoyable stay at the seaside."

Lovely cosy, clean cottage

  • 5 of 5

Clover Cottage is very well appointed with a real homely feel. The owners have added lots of personal touches that makes it feel welcoming. It is well located near to the town and beach and the bonus of a parking space is very welcome. It was our first visit to Norfolk and we enjoyed exploring the area, especially walking on the coast path and birdwatching at Cley.

One point, the stairs could be a little tricky if you have mobility problems and with the bathroom being downstairs night time visits could be an issue.

All in all, a lovely little holiday home and would certainly love to return.

Owner's Response: Dear Jude - Thank you so much for your lovely comments. We're so pleased you enjoyed your stay. You are right about the stairs, of course. Although we do mention in the contract that they are steep, we've now put photos on the website as well to let possible guests know well in advance.

Perfect holiday home!

  • 5 of 5

Clover Cottage is a delightful, welcoming holiday home! Perfectly located only a few minutes from the sea with a friendly little cafe nearby too! Cottage has all you need, garden area for sitting out and the bonus of private parking! Didn't use the car all week! Took advantage of the train and steam train. Had great walks too by the sea to Cromer and Weybourne (certainly would recommend eating at The Ship in Weybourne). Thanks to Jonathan for his assistance throughout which helped make this holiday just right!

Cosy, bright, and comfortable in very good location

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time at Clover Cottage helped by the mediterranean weather for part of the week but would be good in any weather . Loved the.well stocked garden, the interesting book collection, and pretty decor. Quiet location away from the main bustle but very easy access to the beach, shops, cafes, and station (a short walk). The off road parking was also an asset. Hope to return and would recommend.

Owner's Response: I wish we could take credit for the weather! But we're glad you were lucky and had plenty of sunshine. So pleased you appreciated the cottage and the comforts we've tried to provide inside and out. Thanks for letting us know promptly about the faulty light - we've replaced it straightaway with a new one in time for next week's guests. We hope you'll come back to Clover Cottage again.

Perfect getaway in Sheringham

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time in Sheringham even the weather was good for late October.

Clover Cottage is a lovely clean and tidy well equipped house with good sized rooms and even has a nice quiet private garden. Ideally located a short walk from the beach, cafes, shops, museums, shell gallery and train station. Would recommend this holiday cottage to everyone and hope to get back again in 2017.

Home from home!

  • 5 of 5

Clover Cottage was a great base for us and our 9 month old as we caught up with family and reacquainted ourselves with beautiful North Norfolk.

The house was very homely, well equipped and in a perfect location, being only a short walk away from the beach and the town centre.

The private off road parking space off was really helpful, although most of our travelling during the holiday was done on foot, along the coast path, or riding on the steam train between Sheringham and Holt.

The owner was super efficient when it came to our booking and correspondence before and after our stay.
