About the Owner
About Leticia Vaughan
My husband has lived in Budleigh Salterton all of his life, and I come from neighbouring Exmouth. We live in Budleigh Salterton, only 5 minutes walk away from the Cottages, with our three young children.
Leticia Vaughan purchased this cottage in 2011
Why Leticia Vaughan chose East Devon
The cottages were converted from old barns, thought to have been originally used as farm buildings, but were just used as storage over the last 50 years.
We completed the conversions in March 2014.

What a lovely place!
This really is a lovely place. My partner and I stayed for the Bank holiday weekend with my brother and his wife. Leticia the owner has created a beautifully furnished and equipped cottage. The layout is great too with the two double bedrooms being at opposite ends of the property. Highly recommended and we will definitely be visiting again. Budleigh Salterton is a lovely place too with the cottage a minutes walk from the seafront and the high street. Perfect!
A Truly Luxurious Holiday Cottage
From the moment we arrived to the moment we HAD to leave. We loved it at Starfish Cottage. The pictures can't do justice to how stunning these cottages are. There are so many little details that have been thought through. Which enable you to relax in such comfort! The beds are big & comfy with fresh hotel linen. Big fluffly bath towels. Beautiful big kitchen, with everything you need at hand, plenty of room to eat inside & out. Handy washing machine, cleverly tucked away. Big bedrooms, with walkin closets! And ensuites! Nice comfortable sofas and chairs. Pretty landscaped shared garden. Beautifully light and airy with high windows & lovely architecture. The two bedrooms are at either end of Starfish Cottage. (So you don't feel/or hear your kids right next door!) TV's & integral DVD players in lounge & both bedrooms. And free Wi-Fi (every parent of teenagers knows how essential this is!) I could go on... But I think you've got the picture, basically, we didn't want to leave (ever!) Letitia was lovely & very kind to our very excited children. We will definitely be going back. This is such a rare find & the price is so good, affordable - kind for families in the holidays. Budleigh Salterton is a beautiful town, lots of bargains to be had in the many shops (particularly in the charity shops - which have some great stock) & the many boutique shops & wonderful ice cream from The Creamery! The beach is beautiful, lovely for swimming, fishing, kayaking. Framed by huge red cliffs one end, pastel beach huts, good cafés and the estuary (which provides) rock pools, lovely river walks/paddling, along the River Otter at the end. Exmouth is just 10 minutes away, if you want sand & some children's amusements. These cottages are really a rare find. You won't regret booking any of them, as they all have their own unique layout & stamp, but the same luxurious quality. They provide a perfect base for you to explore so many beautiful places nearby. Knowing that you have somewhere lovely to return home to. Well done Letitia - you have created such a beautiful secret sanctuary, perfect for couples or families, a truly luxurious getaway.
We'll be back!
Myself and my husband just spent a wonderful few days in Lobster Cottage, we were so delighted with how lovely it was, finished beautifully and it had everything we needed.
I can honestly say I haven't slept in a more comfortable bed and without a doubt we will be visiting again.
Letitia was great to deal with and it's clear she has a great eye for detail as the cottage is bright and fresh and most important so comfortable.
Four families short stay
We hired two of the cottages for a short weekend break to celebrate an important family birthday and there was not enough room at "our Inn"" for our large family. The younger more sophisticated amongst them, with children, stayed in the cottages and absolutely raved about the accommodation. I was asked by Letitsia if I could let them know if there was anything not quite right, that could be improved upon which you only know by staying in a place. According to them nothing was left to chance so I can only heap praise upon the cottages as a must for a holiday. Lynda Benson.
Idyllic seaside retreat
In a word - Perfect
Communications with Letitia during the booking process were great, first impressions on arrival, we were stunned. The furnishings have been tastefully thought out and the whole property flows with a these that is easy on the eye and attractive. Every amenity is catered for from a self catering point of view. right down to cafietiere, teatowels and dishcloths. The two showers are very luxurious power showers. Kitchen appliances galore. The outside space is lovely and we enjoyed meals on the patio. It has a courtyard feel, but plenty of space so you do not feel aware of the neighbours. There is a wine shop in the main street, which supplied a couple of very nice bottles of wine. here was a complimentary bottle in the fridge when we arrived which was a lovely welcome. Letitia showed us around on arrival and explained how everything works and some of the history of the property which was interesting. The town of Budleigh is really friendly and had a good vibe. We used the local shops whilst there. The beach is a stones throw away and we took walks along the coast path. We had a meal in one of the local pubs, it was a world cup football match night so the pub was busy but we didn't have to wait long and there was a good atmosphere. We also had fish and chips from the Budleigh Chippy and they were beautiful, The property is well located for the local sights and for travel further afield with a good road network. We booked to stay one week, but wish we had booked two weeks. I would thoroughly recommend this property and location without hesitation. Caroline
