About the Owner

Stephen & Alison Fletcher. We first skied in the Grand Massif in 2004 and immediately fell in love with Samoens village. It has a unique old village charm and atmosphere. Yet only an 8 minute gondola ride you are in to an extensive varied ski area. We have owned the apartment since 2004 but are now managing it our selves. We have taken the opportunity to refurbish it to our requirements and for clients who appreciate an apartment which is well equipped.

We have used the apartment before and were not disappointed. From start to finish the owners were a pleasure to deal with. The location is perfect for everything.

Fantastic apartment

  • 5 of 5

Nice, spacious (for French skiing) apartment. Very well equipped. Boot warmer and UK plug points a nice touch. Very handy for ski bus. Short walk into Samoens which is a nice, pretty town (unlike Flaine which looks like a gulag).

Only downside to Samoens is getting to ski school meeting point which is at the top of a lift bottleneck in half term.

Warm and well equipped apartment

  • 5 of 5

Well equipped apartment, some UK 3 pin sockets, very clever idea. The boot warmer was great for airing the gear after skiing.

Close to the Village for access to all that the it has to offer.

Really clean and Warm and welcoming with loads of help and tips from the owners.

compact. ideal location. very good facilities

  • 5 of 5

Perfect little apartment for a family of 4. (2 Adults and 2 teenage boys). The owners have thought of many extra little touches to make it extremely comfortable and easy to enjoy your holiday here. We had a car which was helpful but could have happily managed without.

Easy walk into town. Easy access to gondola station. Excellent provision of advice about eating out, shops, ski lessons and much more.

Owners were very straightforward, helpful and prompt with information.

We liked it so much that we are booking again.

Charming property

  • 4 of 5

This was a very tasteful and tidy little property and well equipped. We visited for skiing and the bus came to the end of the road and it was an easy walk into town. The owners couldn't have been more helpful with requests and help sending on a couple of things left behind! Thank you.

Beautiful apartment, gorgeous area, helpful owners

  • 5 of 5

Our family of five stayed here for the first two weeks of July. The apartment was terrific and suited our needs perfectly. It was very nicely fitted out, spotlessly clean, and the decking was a welcome addition which most other apartments in the complex did not have. The owners were very helpful and accommodating, and the guide books in the apartment were really informative. The complex was lovely and very well located. The pool in the complex was quite small and did get rather busy, but there is an excellent municipal pool in the village. All in all we couldn't fault it and are about to book to return to the same apartment next year. For anyone thinking about visiting this area for the first time, it is absolutely beautiful and Samoens is a perfect base from which to explore it.

Samoens

The village is alive with a lovely friendly atmosphere. It is the only French ski resort to be listed as a historic monument with the centre of the village dating back to the early 13th century much of it built by stone masons for which the village became famous. It has a beautiful 8 acre botanical garden that recently celebrated its centenary. The Giffre river flows through the village with rafting from Sixt down to Samoens passing through a narrow gorge on the way. There is an outdoor swimming pool in the village with a water slide and a lake close to it with a golf driving range into the water. Col de Joux Plane is the mountain road that links Samoens with Morzine and is sometimes used as a stage on the Tour de France. It has great views of Mont Blanc from its summit. If you prefer to self-cater, Carrefour have a good sized supermarket on the outskirts of Samoens. There are also two small supermarkets in the village within walking distance plus numerous banks/ATM's. In July and August, 7 of the Grand Massif lifts run including the Gondola out of the village so walkers and mountain bikers are well catered for. There are challenging downhill bike routes graded blue to black.
