We are a family of 4 and live and work in Switzerland. We have a great passion for property, with a keen eye on great locations. We enjoy cooking, spending time with friends and family, good restaurants and pubs. Having some outdoor space is very important to us and we try and create areas that allow us and our guests to eat outside, relax, sunbathe etc.

Nevin Weston purchased this cottage in 2012

Why Nevin Weston chose Mevagissey

We came across Bayview Cottage in 2012 and decided to make an offer within 1 hour of viewing the cottage. We were won over by the fantastic location and the unparalleled views.

What makes this cottage unique

We fully renovated Bayview in 2014. OUr home from home is now a comfortable, warm, light and modern cottage. The icing on the cake is our terraced garden which has spectaular views, space to eat, drink and watch the world go by.

Fabulous property in a gorgeous position

  • 5 of 5

Weekend get together with friends to celebrate my husbands 60th. Property had everything we required, views were breathtaking, especially in the brilliant sunshine that we were lucky enough to have. Draw the curtains if you don't want the sunrise at 5am to be the start of your day.

Fishing on the Aquila was awesome and a feast of Whiting was enjoyed by everyone.

Everything was convenient for all ages, shops, ice cream, Aquarium and beach. Though a lack of a cash machine did annoy some.

The children loved the secure back garden and eating their food alfresco.

All our cornish friends had positive views regarding this property and I'm sure there will be many bookings on the strength of this memorable weekend.

Beautiful cottage in lovely little town - definitely will be going again.

  • 5 of 5

Pictures don't do this cottage justice! It's beautiful! We stayed for 7 nights with 3 children, the boys loved having a bedroom of their own and the daughter claimed her own bathroom, so she was happy too. Lovely views which are better from the 1 st floor and the garden is great for eating in if the weather is good, although remember everything as it's 3 floors if you forget the cutlery. Kitchen is well equipped to cook or the pubs are a 2 minute walk to eat out, we particularly enjoyed the Harbour Tavern where the locals made the kids very welcome. Tea on the Quay was lovely for good coffee and a cream tea, the kids loved She Sells for ice creams while they were crabbing.

Plenty of shops to pick up bits and pieces in Mevagissey including bakers and a lovely very well stocked greengrocers. Bigger supermarkets in St Austell were easy to get to.

The children enjoyed playing on the beach when the tide was out, and crabbing (quite successfully) when the tide was in. We also travelled a fair bit and saw Lands End, St Michael's Mount and Padstowe, all were a fairly easy drive.

Parking is provided in a car park in the town, a good 5 minute walk from the property. You can pull up outside on the road to unload and load suitcases from the car, but the locals are used to the narrow roads so are quite patient.

We had an issue with the boiler while we stayed, a couple of phone calls to Liz who manages the property and the problem was resolved within an hour. The only minor negative was there wasn't a mirror in the master bedroom, so had to go up to the attic for a big mirror. We have been advised by the owner that there was one but it had broken just before our stay, and will be replaced as soon as possible.

Spotlessly clean property with wonderful views over the harbour.

  • 5 of 5

From the moment we stepped in through the door we felt relaxed and at home. It was warm and inviting.Excellent quality renovation. It had everything we needed for a short break. Would have loved to have stayed longer as we loved Mevagissey at this time of year.It was lovely to sit by the bay window and watch the fishing boats return in the morning. House was quiet and only a stone's throw away from the heart of Mevagissey. Would definately recommend. Excellent communication with owner.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review. I love Mevagissey in the winter - watching the boats in the harbour but also the spectacular waves crash over the harbour walls when the weather is rough.

A Great Property with a Fantastic View of the Harbour

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this house on the hill in Mevagissey. Even though it was a period house the inside was tastefully decorated, had a modern kitchen and plenty of space. The coastal and harbour views were fantastic, and it was just a short walk to the picturesque town. Overall a great few days away. We would definitely return to this property.
