Our villa is brand new for 2015 and has been rebuilt from the ground up from an original villa dating back many years. Villa Della Felicita translates to mean the Villa of Happiness and from the moment you arrive you get a feeling of contentment and happiness. We have tried to make the property light, modern and from an environmental perspective as eco-friendly as possible which is very much in keeping with the philosophy of the overall island. This means extra features like the latest solar power energy system (Sardinia has over 300 days of sunshine a year!), low energy hot water systems, a salt water pool (whilst more expensive to install it means you and your children can enjoy soft-water bathing with no red eye issues and best of all you are not drenched in Chlorine which is nasty stuff- the salt levels are nothing like the sea as they are very mild). We also have a comprehensive organic garden and a 350 sqm astro sports area with tennis, football, putting and much more. My family and I have been lucky enough to travel most of the world and yet we always come back to Italy- more specifically Sardinia - for us its the best family location in the world. Italy is a country steeped in history and culture with breath taking architecture, landscapes and seascapes all of which, can be enjoyed with wonderful wine and exquisite food. Sardinia is the jewel in the crown.
Sardinia is a safe, beautiful, sophisticated, island where one minute you can be in the hustle and bustle, rubbing shoulders with A-list celebrities- the next, you can be on your own, as though you are on your very own deserted island of paradise.
To-date I have never met anyone that has not fallen in love with this island- described as the hidden gem of the Mediterranean.
Florindo purchased this villa in 1949
The people of Sardinia have the longest live spans of anyone on earth- that's a great starting point for a relaxing place to have a villa and as a place to go on holiday!
They put it down to the purity of the food and the special mystic qualities associated with the many natural water springs, dotted all over the island
Also my father is Italian and I am a Sardinian citizen myself.
The location of this property is excellent. You are central on the northern coast very close to the sea front (300m away). You are just minutes away from beautiful beaches, towns, villages and marinas- all unspoilt.
You are surrounded by places to visit such as Stintino, the Paradise Coast, Coasta Smeralda and even the island of Corsica is only a few hours away.
Your own private villa is the best holiday experience you can have. We have tried the hotels, we have tried the resort accommodation, we even tried boutique B&B- nothing remotely compares to a home from home- that's how we want you to feel when you are there.
There is nothing like spending a day on one of the worlds most beautiful beaches then going home to your very own luxury villa- welcome to Villa Della Felicita- the villa of happiness.
Some features- large astro sports area including tennis court, putting green, seasonal swimming pool ,table tennis, football, organic garden and much more.
We don't often write reviews, but the effort the owners put into ensuring we had a great stress free stay was exceptional. This continued once we arrived with the local help provided (when required) available during our entire stay.
This was our second trip to Sardinia, the first time we stayed at a resort hotel which was expensive and to be honest we felt could have been anywhere in the world- all a bit false, which meant we missed so much.
This time we able to have a true Sardinian experience. We visited Stintino, Castelsardo, Alghero, Asinara, Costa Paradiso, Le Pelosa Beach and much more. We engaged in the local foods, villages and markets and lived like true Sardinians- I lost 1/2 stone in weight even though I felt like I was constantly eating! The food is wonderful, authentic and most of all, very healthy.
Lastly I would say, the villa and grounds are even better than the pictures, in a very nice setting very close to the sea
This is a place that looks even better than the pictures.
When the gates first opened our children were definitely wowed and I smiled with relief as you never know until you arrive.
By the time I walked through the villa door even my husband showing his approval, which is very rare. I would describe it internally as stylishly appointed with a modern twist.
After our week stay, I would say it's a beautiful villa inside and out perfect for families who have children and teenagers to occupy.
We visited many of the places close by, lots of wow moments, Stintino and Castelsardo my favourites. The long local beach great for a morning run.
Giovanni and Rhonda were great and provided help and information at the drop of a hat. Thank you, it was a great stay which we all enjoyed
The villa was to high standard with very nice facilities and large private garden. the only negative is the location...it is not possible to walk anywhere due to the nearby busy road with no footpath...so every where had to be by car
I booked the villa for a week for a family holiday as it appeared to have everything to suit our group - 3 years up to 70 years! It did not disappoint! Beautifully light, spacious and airy and decorated with Italian style and flair and superbly maintained.
The outside amenities were fantastic and we made good use of them all. Loved the little putting green!
We were lucky with the weather, average mid 20s, so bravely used the pool a couple of times.
The orchard provided lemons perfect for G&Ts and a few ripe figs too!!
Alex could not have been more helpful from my first enquiry with excellent emailed information on the villa, the locality and Sardinia.
Rhondda and Giovanni were very helpful throughout although, sadly, I didn't meet them as my daughter arrived before us. Provisions were bought in and lasagnes made for our first evening meal - thank you both so much.
Alex's recommendations were superb and we had great takeaway pizza & pasta from La Chica Piperita nearby.
Castelsardo, Alghero & The Grotte di Nettuno definitely worth visiting. Typically British we were the only people on the stunning 7Km beach at Marina di Sorso, but it was late in the season. Sea still warm enough for a swim though! We didn't get to the local beach, not easy to walk the busy part of the road with a lively 3 year old. Next time!!!
Do try an Agriturismo if you can. Check first if you have vegetarians amongst your group like us. A. Bedda Ista was superb and worth the drive into the mountains for lunch with superb views, and much veggie food!
Thanks again Alex for a great stay.
The villa has everything we needed for a perfect holiday. There were 3 generations and we were all entertained. There are beautiful views from all sides and it is peaceful. It is very well maintained and I cannot recommend it enough
It was the first property we looked at in June last year and were so impressed by what we saw we contacted Alex the owner to book for August this year. When we arrived we were not disappointed, everything was as described and even better "in the flesh". Alex could not have been more helpful before the holiday and Rhondda & Giovani were fantastic on arrival and throughout our stay. Our ages ranged from 7 to 67 and we all enjoyed the facilities available to us at the villa, the pool was a particular favourite. We visited some wonderful places and ate some fantastic food. Everyone has already said they want to return next year. Again a great big thank you to Alex, Rhondda & Giovani for such a memorable holiday our family will talking about for a long time.
Special interest holidays:

Horse riding schools
Cookery schools
Sea and Harbor Fishing
Climbing and trekking

Coast/Beach:
The villa is 300 metres from the sea- as with most of Sardinia a car is best in order to fully explore this largely non-commercialised island.
The more famous beaches like La Bagnu or Eden are 5 minutes by car. In reality the entire northern coast is a wash with beaches, coves and gullies. No matter what time of year you travel, you will find all sorts of beaches to suit your needs such as empty beaches, busy beaches, rocky beaches, sandy beaches, diving beaches, fishing beaches and more.

The viila being centrally located on the northern coast means you have many choices.
The main airport at Alghero to the west is 35-40 minutes away- navigation is straight forward as its an island- head north, south, east or west in your general direction of travel and you will arrive. To the east is Olbia, the other main airport, which is 70-80 minutes away.
By ferry of Porto Torres is 30 minutes away
On arrival head for Castelsardo and you know you are 5 minutes away from the villa.
Distances:
(By car)
Castelsardo - 5 mins
Sorso- 5 mins (authentic Sardinian small town with nice market)
Isola Rossa- 20 mins (beautiful harbor fishing village)
Paradise Coast- 30 mins (stunning snorkeling and seascapes)
Alghero- 35-40 mins (nice large harbor town with lots of interesting little shops)
Stintino- 35-40 mins- (stunning harbor- world famous La Pelosa beach)
Costa Esmeralda- 60-70 mins- (haunt of the very rich and famous-expensive!)

With this villa you have lots of choices.
If you choose, on arrival you can simply close the electric gates and stay put for a week or two.
You have more than enough onsite to occupy everyone. From the great private sports facilities, tennis, golf putting, basketball, pool, table tennis, football, a large swimming pool, orchards, vegetable gardens, full Internet wi-fi everywhere, smart TV's, DVD's, Xbox 360, games, full air-conditioning, outside eating, luxury accommodation, a separate apartment and much more.
If you do want to go out for the day then again you have so many choices. I love going round the various local markets- there is usually one on somewhere locally most days of the week.
Day trips to Stintino, the Paradise Coast, Costa Esmeralda (my 21 year old daughters favorite) or one of the many white or pink sand beaches, or maybe fishing down at Castelsardo harbor- all these things are within very easy reach.
Then there is eating out- again you have many choices. You are surrounded (within 5-10 minutes) with possible places. You can have wonderful home cooked Italian food from 3-4 euro's per ahead or both traditional and upmarket places in villages, along the road-side and by the sea from 8 euro's ahead and up.
If you want a feast then you can visit one of the many famous agriturismo farmsteads which offer traditional Sardinian dishes and homemade cured meats, vegetables, wines and lots of specialty dishes (make sure you are all hungry!)
