About the property

Cottage in La Bazoque, Nr. Bayeux, Calvados, Normandy, France - Peaceful Location, Easy Access To D-Day Sites And Nearby Towns

This pretty holiday cottage set at the end of a country lane, with beautiful views over the surrounding countryside, is an ideal place for two people to relax. The restored property is perfect for those wanting peace and quiet in a rural location. Five acres of land surround the cottage and there is a pretty garden with sunny patios to both front and rear. The cottage comprises an open plan living and dining area on the ground floor with a well-equipped kitchen. There is a wood-burning stove provided which is ideal during the Autumn months. The bathroom with bath and shower is at the rear of the cottage, also on the ground floor. Stairs lead up to the double bedroom with wonderful views from the bedroom windows. The property is suitable for babes in arms (a cot can be provided) but not for older children.

About Rebecca Harries-Williams

Our French property has been in the family for nearly thirty years, bought by my parents as a second home. Although based in England, we still visit when we can and love the peace, wildlife and relaxation. A history buff, I never tire of visiting the D-Day sights and the nearby Bayeux tapestry and Cathedral.

Rebecca Harries-Williams purchased this cottage in 1990

Guestbook comments from the owner

"A little gem. If you like to get away from it all then this is the place for you. It is totally isolated in acres of its own and perfectly quiet. It is a wildlife haven with its own resident owls and lots of other interesting animals."

"We particularly liked the remoteness of the property. It was very quiet and relaxing, and gave us a great opportunity to recharge our batteries."

Having stayed here before ,we knew what to expect and were just as happy as last time

Cottage is for us ideal ,in that it is so remote .Well equipped and the log burner was lit every evening .

Cottage being so remote ,is very dusty and perhaps the mattress could be changed

However the overall experience was fab and we will return

Such a dream

  • 5 of 5

Our time spent at Le Petit Promenant was like a dream. Never have I felt more at home or more relaxed while on holiday! I loved this cottage for its location (no city noise or people at all, really) and for its overall charm. The wood burner was such a nice touch on chilly evenings and the toilet window opened out onto a big grassy field where cows sometimes were. The fruit trees were in bloom as were some of the flowers in the flower beds. Though it's a bit of a way away from anything (40 mins to Bayeux) it was so nice to be in the country, and if you make day trips of them, the D-Day sites and Mont Saint Michel are within driving distance. Also the wifi was a little patchy and really slow, but we took advantage of the selection of jigsaw puzzles and games that were there. I cannot say how lovely our time was here--words are not enough. I was genuinely sad to leave and I hope we will be back one day! Thank you so much for a wonderful week!
