Meadow House is an attractive, comfortable house with wonderful views from all the bedrooms and is very quiet and peaceful. It sleeps 6 in 3 bedrooms and up to 9 with a put-up bed and/or the double sofa bed in the drawing room. Meadow has wi-fi.

Guests in Meadow House have the advantage of being able to drive their car through the farm, and park above Molunnan beach. Elderly guests and those with young children find this very convenient.

The 4 listed properties of St Anthony in Roseland Cottages are all on the Place estate, on the beautiful Roseland peninsular and within walking distance of each other and the sea. In fact, apart from the 200 yards where the peninsular joins the mainland, the estate is entirely surrounded by the sea.
For groceries and pub, the nearest village is Gerrans, 3 miles up the road. Or, take the Place ferry to St Mawes for more shops and restaurants. This lands at Totties steps, which is easily accessible on foot from all 4 cottages, or park your car at the slipway.
Meadow House, sleeping 6/7 and Barton Bothy, sleeping 4/5, are on the farm and are approached along a drive off the road to St Anthony lighthouse. From both these cottages you can walk straight from the front door to three beaches along private farm track or coastal footpaths, where no cars will be met other than those belonging to the farm or estate. To walk to the nearest beaches takes about 5 to 10 minutes. Place Lodge and Lavender are about 50 yards and 100 yards respectively from the slipway and dinghy park, with miles of footpaths from the door.
Within easy reach are many famous gardens, such as The Lost Garden of Heligan and Trelissick, and of course the wonderful Eden project is just 40 minutes drive away.
Dogs are welcome in all the cottages.
Place Lodge, sleeping 5/6. Downstairs, small entrance hall and a pretty sitting room with Victorian fireplace. Tall, leaded windows let in all the afternoon and evening sunlight. Next door is a spacious kitchen diner seating 8 in comfort. Back hall, leading off which is a single bedroom, which has room for a put up bed or cot, and a cloakroom/shower with loo. Upstairs, double bedroom, twin bedroom, bathroom with loo. Outside, sunny, walled terrace with rambling roses catches the sun all day. Garden table and chairs. Lawn, large enough to kick a ball around. Hardstanding for 2 cars one behind the other.
Lavender Cottage, sleeping 2, built of Cornish stone, is our doll's house, converted from the garden potting shed, is on the corner of the Place walled garden. Ground floor, kitchen/diner with French doors onto terrace. The front door is the old original stable door and leads straight into the little sitting room with fireplace. Upstairs, bathroom with loo, shower over bath, small double bedroom, 4' bed with just room for a cot. Small terrace which is a secret and sheltered sun trap. Terrace is given privacy from the walled garden by a hurdle fence, leaning over which is an old fig tree and apple tree. A door leads through the garden wall to a car space off the road.
These 2 cottages are approximately 50 and 100 yards respectively from the slipway and dinghy park.
Up on the farm, are the other 2 cottages:
Meadow House sleeping 6 in 3 bedrooms, and 9 with put up bed and double sofa bed in sitting room. There is an extra charge for more than 7 guests, see tariff. Attractive, comfortable house with views from all the bedrooms. Very quiet and peaceful. Ground floor has spacious living room with fireplace, conservatory, kitchen/diner, utility room, cloakroom/shower/loo. Upstairs, 2 double bedrooms, 1 en-suite bathroom with loo, 1 family bathroom with loo, 2 further twin bedrooms. Outside, large fenced in lawn, terrace with chairs and table.
Barton Bothy sleeping 4 in 2 bedrooms and 5 with put up bed. Semi-detached but totally secluded from the main farmhouse in which Nicky lives. This cosy cottage has lovely views. Ground floor, glassed in porch, for wellies and wet dogs etc., kitchen/diner leading into sitting room with large open fireplace. Upstairs, large double bedroom with basin, small twin bedroom, bathroom with loo, shower over bath. Outside, fenced in lawn and paved patio, table and chairs. Parking for one car, further parking very nearby.

About Miranda Forrester
The Spry Grant-Dalton family has owned the Place Estate with its church and family home for over 400 years (the church is now owned by the Church Conservation Trust). The first estate cottage was converted to a holiday let over 35 years ago, by our mother and father.
The cottage business is now run by us 2 sisters. Nicola who lives on site in Barton Farm House, and looks after the guests and the cottages, and Miranda, who deals with all the bookings and requests for information from her home in Warwickshire.

Its safe, sandy beaches are great places to build dams and sandcastles. The walks are breathtaking with rare birds often visiting , and deer, badgers, otters, herons, buzzards, sparrow hawks, peregrine falcons, barn owls, bats are all resident. In the spring, bluebells carpet the woods and the hedgerows are filled with wild flowers.
The area is designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and heritage coastline.
There are miles of coastal footpaths from your doorstep and all with spectacular views.

What makes this house unique
The 4 cottages are all set within easy walking distance of the sea on a small, private estate.
No car necessary for walks, or visits to the beach.
Children are happy to spend hours crabbing from the slipway or messing around in boats in Place Pool.
For guests with larger boats we can provide a mooring, or for smaller boats we have a private dinghy park.
The cottages are relaxed cosy and comfortable, and we won't worry if your children walk into a cottage with sandy feet, or your dogs wander in and out.
In the cooler months you can snuggle up in front of a log fire after a day out walking or exploring the area. And in the summer what better than a swim in the crystal clear sea before cooking a freshly caught mackerel on the barbeque.
There is a discount of £60.00 for 2 week bookings in Meadow in July and August.

Prices exclude electricity/heating. Meters are read in each cottage at the start and end of the holiday and guests pay their account before leaving. Linen is included in the rent. On arrival the log basket and wood shed are full of wood and a couple of days supply of kindling is provided. There will be an extra charge if more wood is required.
Short breaks are available depending on time of year as priority is given to full week bookings.
Christmas and New Year are priced per day, with a minimum price of 5 days.
Under no circumstances do we allow guests to have extra visitors in the cottages using sleeping bags and camp beds. Nor are tents allowed as extra accommodation. Please inform us if you wish to have an extra visitor. Charges for extra guests, which includes babies, are shown on the tariff.
If the holiday is cancelled, whatever the reason, the whole rent is due. If we are able to re-let the weeks involved, the deposit will be returned less an administration fee of £60.00. This also applies to guests who wish to change the date of their booked holiday. In this instance there will be no administration fee charged.
For their own protection prospective visitors are advised to insure their holiday against cancellation.

Activity and Interests
The main beaches are all a short walk from the cottages. Cellars beach is on the flat, and children love it, this goes out to mud at low tide. Molunnan is accessible by boat, or a short and easy climb down the rocks and is sandy even at low tide. Porthbeor beach is accessible by boat and has wonderful rock pools. Towan beach is a National Trust beach, is sandy and easy to reach, a few minutes drive from the cottages and is popular with families and dog walkers.
Car is essential to get to the property, but while there all shopping could be done by using the local foot ferry.

St Mawes is a very pretty fishing village which attracts many overseas and local yachtsman, and has several good pubs and restaurants, including The Tresanton, Idle Rocks, Victory Inn and Rising Sun. It also has a small supermarket, bakery, butcher, bank and post office. A foot ferry runs every 30 minutes, for most of the year, from Place to St Mawes.
Portscatho, 3 miles up the lane, has a pub, a good independent village shop selling fresh bread, pastries and pasties and an excellent butcher and a post office.
Within easy reach are many famous gardens, including Caerhayes Castle, Trelissick, Trewithen, and The Lost Gardens of Heligan.
Walking: The area attracts people who love walking and getting away from it all. The South West Coast path follows the coast, and the walking is fairly easy.
Boating: Moorings and dinghy park available. Also boat storage and launching slipway.
