About the Owner

I have always wanted to turn my hobby of ceramics into a business, and moving to France, and buying a house with several barns have helped us do this. We enjoy our tranquil life here, and wish to share it with others. We live in such a beautiful area of France, what a change from urban England.

Fantastic Holiday

  • 5 of 5

The Gite is very clean and well equipped with every item you could ever need. We had a wonderful welcome from Sue and Keith with a cup of tea and biscuits on arrival. They explained all we needed to know about the Gite and how to use all the equipment. The area is gorgeous and when in the garden overlooking the countryside the tranquility and views are breathtaking.

Sue and Keith are the kindest people helping us to find places to go and giving us lots of advice. We went to some lovely places that we would not of been aware of. We lunched with them and their extended family and spent a day out in a picturesque village, enjoying ice creams. Also had a barbecue on the night before we left and Sue presented us with a cake for our Anniversary.

We loved every minute of being there, and wished we were still there.

The warmest hosts, cosy accommodation

  • 5 of 5

We arrived at this easy to find location, to the warmest of welcomes from its hosts Sue & Keith, a glass of red, and a sit in the sun. The location being rural is simply beautiful, peaceful with stunning views over the rolling countryside. Other amenities are available including supermarkets, bars, restaurants etc in the nearby town just a short drive away. Our visit purpose was property hunting, but this location is perfect for exploring the stunning French countryside, in all directions. In our accommodation a lovely welcome gift awaited, with a baguette, croissants, butter, milk, jam, pâté, fresh milk and ground coffee, perfect! The accommodation is lovely, very clean, warm and cosy with exposed stone walls, beams, full of character, but with every mod con to make your stay very comfortable. I won't list all the facilities as you can see those for yourself in the listing, but I cannot imagine there is anything else you would need! There's even plenty of books, magazines and games, along with a TV with full English programming should you wish. If you fancy trying pottery, then Sue runs classes in the most comprehensive workshop I've seen! An important addition for us was the included WiFi, as we were in France house hunting, so we managed to keep in touch with our viewings and arrange others whilst there. Sue and Keith even helped us see some other properties, these two cannot do enough to help you, we were even invited to a lovely meal and shared an evening with them. They are simply the perfect hosts, lovely people and deserve every one of the 5 stars given for this review. Thank you for all of your help, and making our stay with you so comfortable.

Location

From the Owner

We bought here in Mayenne , as it was close enough to England for a long weekend, which we had plenty of, until moving permanently in 2010. This is such a lovely area, so calm, definitely rural France at its best. But close enough to all the ports and rail links.
