We own a charming 18th century cottage set in its own private gardens, providing a rural retreat where you can enjoy open countryside walks and return to put your feet up in front of a cosy woodburner. Apple Tree Cottage is an idyllic retreat for 2 people. Cycle route No 1 winds its way past the garden gate. Neighbouring villages boast some delightful pubs (including 2 of Suffolk’s pub grub of the year winners). Within a 20 minute drive are both Southwold and Aldburgh, popular family resorts. Southwold has a sandy beach and for beer lovers is a must as it is home to the famous Adnams Brewery. Aldeburgh is a pretty Victorian beach resort famous for its fish and chips. Within a 45min drive is Beccles, gateway to the Norfolk Broads and Lowestoft with its fishing community. Our prices include central heating, lighting and all logs and kindling as well as linen and towels. The whole area is ideal for walking, cycling, bird watching, riding, fishing and playing golf.

Apple Tree cottage
Very comfortable cottage, helpful owners; nothing too much trouble. Very peaceful location; lovely enclosed garden. Only disadvantage not within walking distance of pub! Beware of very steep stairs and low doorways; you soon learn to duck! Ideal location for exploring area, a very good base. Enjoyed buying fish in Aldeburgh and fruit farm on road to Orford, best raspberries ever! Would not hesitate to visit again.
Apple tree cottage weekend
Fabulous place to relax and unwind, Appletree Cottage is clean, warm and inviting. The hosts are generous and helpful. Thoroughly would recommend this place to sat.
Relaxed and cosy
The cottage is as it looks on the website, very clean, tidy, well decorated and cosy. There was a welcome gift of red wine and cake for when we arrived. Thank you. The facilities were great. Well resourced kitchen, usual bathroom with bath/shower and always hot water at the ready. This is on the ground floor. One large bath towel was provided for each person and one hand towel in the bathroom. It is a good idea to have some cosy footwear to walk on tiles etc. The stairs are a little steep, which could prove difficult for people who find steps hard to climb/balance on. The lounge was very cosy and provided a relaxed area especially after a day out. The cottage is in peaceful surroundings. You certainly get a good nights sleep ! and is well situated to venture out to different places. There are many of these to walk around and places to eat out. (Certainly a good variety for different tastes). This is a really lovely cottage to stay in to 'get away from it all'. Thank you Tracey and Gary. I would certainly stay again if to come to the area.
Will definately be back
Well we've just had a week down in Suffolk staying in this wonderful cosy cottage that oozes charm and character, the cottage is very well equipped and lovely and clean also. The owners had left a lovely welcome which was very much appreciated. We would not hesitate to recommend Apple tree cottage and we will be back.
Apple Tree Cottage
Property was spotlessly clean and extremely comfortable. Very quiet rural location. Ideally situated for local nature reserves. Perfect for a relaxing break.
What a find!
We didn't stay in Apple Cottage but next door in Rose Cottage. The heading says it all.....perfect! Really shouldn't be telling you all this as we will get less time ourselves in this Suffolk gem!
On arrival the cottage was warm and cosy, all the necessities for a drink after a journey, tea, coffee even milk were there for our welcoming.
The cottage is beautifully kept with ample supplies of kindling and logs for the log burner. Despite looking small, the cottage is a good size with all that you will need for a relaxing, chill stay.
A lovely quirky cottage. Thank you to the owners, Gary and Tracy.
