About the Owner

We have many years of experience in owning and running holiday properties and after a couple of years gap, we decided to buy Strawberry Cottage. The initial plan was that this would be a bit of a bolt hole for us as a family with a few weeks rental to help cover our costs. However, due to the success of this property and our dream of our son growing up by the sea, we decided to purchase additional properties and move down to West Cornwall lock and stock in September 2013. All three of us absolutely love it here. The beaches are stunning, the people are friendly and food is magnificent. Plus there's a lovely relaxed way of life making living here just about perfect.

An excellent choice

  • 4 of 5

From the moment you arrived to the lodge with a warming welcome and a fresh clean smell the break was everything a family could hope for.

The cottage is well worth it's billing , compact but perfect even for a family of 6 ... And we had a room to spare!!! The facilities on site we only used the pool in the mornings as a wake up and it was very much appreciated by the kids the sauna was more our cup of tea.

The locality and accessibility to everything was great. This was my first experience of Cornwall and I will be back time and again for the most amazing beaches ( Godrevy was our favorite too) the fantastic views walks food, choices, waves and much more Thank you for our base which is perfectly placed to explore all sides of the tip of Cornwall

Fantastic Accomodation with personal touches

  • 5 of 5

Beautifully situated and presented to a very high standard throughout. A very welcoming house, the welcome pack was great, the cream tea was lovely and the other extras e.g. Toilet rolls, teabags, washing up liquid were ideal. The beds were comfy and lots of storage space, everything was catered for and it was a real home from home.

Can't wait to return, but for longer next time! Thank you both so much, an absolute jewel in the crown for us x

A well maintained property in a good area

  • 4 of 5

We were very happy in the house - easy to find and in good condition inside. We saw some of the other properties on the park and they were awful. We definitely found a good one. It was well equipped in the kitchen and in DVD's. We had a lovely week there and a great location for visiting many places in the very south of Cornwall. Recommend St Ives and all the little towns around the area. The pool on the park is nice, very quiet when we were there. It's great to be able to play darts/snooker/crazy golf for free too.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your kind comments Lauren. We purchased this property just over a year ago and have put a lot of effort into bringing it up to a standard we're happy with, so it's also nice to hear that you liked what our cottage has to offer too. We'd be delighted to welcome you and your family back again soon.

A perfect trip

  • 4 of 5

We had a perfect mini-trip. The property was as described - & clean, well stocked and suited our needs perfectly. It was a quick and easy trip into town, to the beaches, off to the countryside and the shared pool and kids play area was a very welcomed bit of relaxation at the end of the day. We would have no hesitation staying again or recommending to others.

All hail Hayle

  • 5 of 5

An excellent property, well maintained, very clean, tidy and well decorated. My emails were answered promptly and plenty of information about the area was provided in the lodge pack. There is a lot to do in and around Hayle, with plenty of good beaches, theme parks and a variety of tourist attractions that suit all ages. The on-site 'Foxy' club was excellent for our 3 5 year olds who would have happily stayed there all day. Tesco will deliver to the site.

Places to visit - Paradise Park, Seal Sanctuary, Flambards, Holywell Bay Fun Park, Gwithian Towans, Godrevy Beach, Carbis Bay, Kynance Cove, St Ives(take the train in), Sunset Surf Cafe, Jampot Cafe, The Old Quay House, Italian Kitchen in Hayle.

From the Owner

If you love gorgeous, diverse beaches, landscapes and wildlife then this is the place for you. There's just something about this part of Cornwall that feels like you've stepped back in time. Ok the English weather can be unreliable but it really doesn't matter here. We've been down on the beaches in gale force winds and had the most fantastic time. We just wrap up warm and then head off to one of the many wonderful little beachside cafe's for a scrummy hot chocolate afterwards. We particularly love Gwithian Towans, as it's just a couple of miles from the properties and is National Trust owned (meaning we don't have to pay to park, as we're members). We can take the short walk along the coastal path where we're often rewarded by seeing 6 or 7 seals basking on the beach below.

Activity and Interests

Car: necessary

Special interest holidays:

Bird Watching

If you enjoy a spot of bird watching, then why not stay at our cottage over the winter.

The estuary at Hayle is renowned nationally as a great birding area. The estuary is owned by the RSPB and is a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest due to its wintering wildfowl and waders. The lower estuary is predominantly sandy, becoming muddier towards the western end and includes Ryan’s Field, an enclosed area to the south of the main estuary which can be viewed from a purpose built hide.

The Estuary is renowned for turning up rare and scarce species:

Spoonbill, Cattle Egret, Great-white Egret, Bairds, Broad-billed, Buff-breasted, Pectoral and Semipalmated Sandpipers, Long-billed Dowitcher, Lesser Yellowlegs, Black-winged stilt, Wilson’s Phalarope, Franklins, Laughing, Bonepartes and Ring-billed Gulls, White-Billed Diver, Pied-billed Grebe, Black Kite, Citrine wagtail, Common crane, Whiskered, Gull-Billed, White-winged Black and Forsters Tern.

From the property you're amazingly close to stunning beaches. Here's a small summary (all times are by car):

Hayle Towans - 2 miles - under 10 minutes - stunning sandy beach, popular with families and surfers alike.

Gwithian Towans - 3 miles - under 10 minutes - owned by the National Trust and a wonderful coastline to walk along.

Carbis Bay - 4 miles - under 10 minutes - a pretty sandy beach.

St Ives - 5 miles - World famous and well worth the visit for both the town and beach.

From Bristol, take the M5 until you reach Exeter - approx 1h 30 minutes.

From Exeter you just head straight down the A30 and it's about 1h 45 minutes. The last leg of your journey from Hayle to the cottage is about 10 minutes.

There's a direct train from London Paddington to Penzance which stops at St Erth station. This is just 1 mile from the cottages.

Hayle Towans: 2.5 miles

Carbis Bay: 4 miles

St Ives: 5 miles

Penzance: 6 miles

Lands End: 15 miles

The Lizard (Kynance Cove): 20 miles

Eden Project: 40 miles

Further Details:

Nearby Hayle (1 mile away) has a large choice of shops (many of which are charmingly indipendant). There are two medium size supermarkets (Lidl and Co-op) plus 3 bakeries, 3 banks, Mr B's Ice-cream parlour - a must visit shop! Philps Pasties and a good selection of restaurants and pubs. There is also a bike hire shop and the all important surf shop. We provide more detailed information and reviews in the information pack at each property.
