Cottage in Massugas, Gironde, Aquitaine, France - Peaceful Location Surrounded by Rolling Vineyards
Gorce is a spacious and rustic, yet modern gite, combining traditional French style with contemporary interiors and modern facilities. Lying in the peaceful grounds of a former farmhouse, surrounded by rolling vineyards, and with a private pool, the environment is relaxing but with easy access to several towns having all amenities, and an ideal base from which to explore the Gironde, Dordogne and the Bordeaux wine country. The market town of Sainte-Foy-la-Grande is 10 minutes by car and has a thriving and bustling market on Saturday mornings. Many of the smaller towns in the region have night markets with food, drink and entertainment throughout July and August. Staying in a detached gite gives you independence and freedom; you can have the holiday you want without compromising on comfort or convenience. The gite is spacious, has been completely refurbished and furnished throughout but retains its old stone walls and exposed low beams. On arrival you will find a welcome pack with a little food and wine and a few of the basics to let you start enjoying your holiday straight away. We also keep a small stock of other essentials in case you have forgotten to pack something! We live in a separate detached house on site, so if you need us, we will try to help make your stay with us even more perfect. Your accommodation comprises: Vaulted sitting room leading directly onto pool. Modern dining kitchen. Shower room & utility area. Main bedroom with ancient bread oven feature. Galleried landing. Bedroom with en suite shower room. Our facilities include large LCD TV, satellite, free wifi, and iPhone/iPod speaker dock. In the kitchen there is a dishwasher, fridge, oven, hob, and microwave, kettle, toaster and coffee machine, and a full range of cookware and tableware. The utility area has an automatic washing machine, iron and ironing board, but we'd much rather you relaxed and enjoyed yourself! Bed linen and towels are provided; we also supply pool towels, so no need to squash them in your case. The gite is optimally configured to sleep 4 in 2 bedrooms (two king sized, or one king sized and twin single beds) We can provide an additional bed or cot by arrangement; please let us know if you would like more flexibility. Due to the character and period of the property, there are two low doorways (approx 170cm high) and a low beam (120cm) across the centre of the upstairs bedroom. A step from the lounge leads onto the secluded patio, with its 10m x 5m heated swimming pool (heated from June to September) with Roman steps. There is a shaded dining area with views across the vines, and, of course, a gas barbecue, so you can cook and eat outdoors. Sunbathe or simply relax by the pool on our sun loungers for those long, lazy days. We have table tennis, badminton and a childrens' swing/slide set for more energetic visitors! The property is enclosed and gated, and there is ample off-road parking for two cars For the comfort of all of our guests, we do not allow pets or smoking on the premises.
About the Owner
About Debbie O'Neill
My husband and I moved to France to get away from the nine to five grind, and we live in the most peaceful surroundings possible. There are deer and rabbits running through the vineyards that surround us, hawks hovering over them and the sun is warm on my face for nine months of the year. I spend my time doing things I enjoy, for myself, instead of for a boss, and I love it!
I have been running the gite and chambres d'hôte for three years now and am constantly delighted by our guests, and finding ways to make them happy. Our early guests have now been returning for two years, and some are enquiring about next year already. We have guests returning with two babies this year, who had one when they came here last year. I wonder if there's something in the air!
Debbie O'Neill purchased this cottage in 2010
