Martins Cottages are a pair of semi-detached identical cottages know as Baytree and Foxglove. They can "linked" by opening double doors. Downstairs there are 2 twin rooms with en suite showers, loo and wash basin. Baytree double bedroom has a large balcony. Two spacious living areas. 2 well appointed kitchens. Limestone floors with under floor heating. Glass doors open onto the sun terraces. Views over the meadow with trees beyond.

The cottages face south west and are full of sunshine. Plenty of private parking. From the cottages there are amazing harbour side walks along quiet country lanes and coastal paths. Many refurbished pubs and restaurants in the immediate area. The Boat House, in the new development at the marina, is just a ten minute walk away. About the Owner
About Gillie Farquhar-Thomson
I grew up in Birdham and moved back with my husband Richard 30 years ago. Our three children had a marvellous time growing up in this beautiful part of the world. They took full advantage of the sailing and wind surfing facilities which are on our door step. They loved Chichester with its famous theatre, cathedral and excellent shops. We kept ponies in our three acre paddock followed by a small flock of sheep. We built the barn for hay storage and lambing. In 2007, with children and sheep all gone we decided to turn the barn into two luxurious holiday homes to sleep four in each unit, Baytree and Foxglove. When the sound proof double doors are open the cottages merge into one, making a wonderful holiday home for eight people.
Gillie Farquhar-Thomson purchased this cottage in 1970
Why Gillie Farquhar-Thomson chose West Sussex
Birdham is in an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Chichester Harbour is an eight minute stroll away along country lanes. We have two marinas and there are wonderful harbour side walks. We love the sea and sailing which we have done all our lives. Chichester dates back to Roman times and is the most beautifully preserved city. There are the ancient Roman walls surrounding the city, the cathedral, theatre, modern art gallery, fantastic shops and restaurants. Three miles to the north of Chichester is the South Downs National Park. We have it all!! including a most beautiful sandy beach at West Wittering which is three miles away.
What makes this cottage unique
The holiday cottages are set overlooking our four acre meadow. The meadow is surrounded by trees and for the use of our visitors. We are minutes from the Chichester Harbour. The cottages face south south west and are full of sunshine. The wild life is amazing. We have deer, foxes, rabbits, squirrels and a huge variety of birds which can be viewed from the living room.

Wonderful, wonderful cottage
It was a pleasure booking with Gillie from start to finish. Gorgeous hostess, beautiful & luxurious homely cottages. Decorated to an amazing standard. Fabulous gardens, room for the children to play. An area of outstanding beauty, peaceful, remote & secluded location but not far at all from the buzzing Chichester town.
Cannot recommend them & this cottage highly enough. A Gorgeous stay.
