About the Owner
I am an Engineering Geologist from Glasgow, but have recently relocated to the area and work in Inverness. I've been coming to this area for years, being a keen hillwalker and have a love of the outdoors. I fell in love with the wee cottage as soon as i saw it. It has all the character you'd expect from one of the oldest houses in the village, but has been recently renovated to provide you with all the comforts you may need. Living locally, I know how convenient a location it is, with much to offer and can provide you with suggestions of what to do with the time you have here if needed. The cottage will provide you with a great base to explore the area and make your stay an enjoyable one.

The cottage is amazing! It's in a great location. It had everything we needed and more! I particularly liked the mokka pot for my coffee and we loved sitting in the evening with the roaring fire from the wood burn!
Little piece of Scottish heaven.
The cottage was by far the most wonderful, clean, modern/cosy accommodation we have ever stayed in. The finishing touches to the cottage went above and beyond any rental we have stayed at before for example, new magazines, flowers and we even found 2 North Face jackets hanging up for us to use! The cottage is also in an excellent location for exploring Loch Ness and its surrounding Highlands. If you are reading this review and toying with the idea of renting this cottage, I can promise you that you won't regret staying here! We will definitely be back!!!
Wonderful Gem of a cottage
We had a wonderful stay at Julie and Rob's little cottage. It is warm, comfortable and very well equipped and we had everything we needed. the cottage itself is very well situated so as to be quiet but with good access to the highlands and north and west of Scotland. I would definitely recommend Torran cottage and Julie and Rob as great hosts too.
Excellent central base for exploring the highlands
We had a lovely stay in Julie and Robs cottage. It was extremely well appointed, very clean and very, very cosy. It was a great central base for exploring both east and west highland Scotland. We went to the Black Isle to see dolphins, up Anaorch Mor on the cable car and enjoyed the wonderful scenery around Loch Ness and Urquhart castle. Glen Affric and Nairn are also worth a visit, as was the funicular railway above Aviemore. We really enjoyed our highland holiday and will definitely be coming back again.
This is a stunning little cottage which has everything you need when on holiday, it was very clean and very well maintained. The owner Julie who lives in the cottage next door greeted us when we arrived and let us know if we needed anything just to pop next door and let her or Rob know, we never got to meet Rob as we didn't need anything, everything was perfect. The cottage is down a little street with some cute little cottages, a couple of B&Bs to big fancy houses down the bottom, there is also a graveyard but if you go through the gate to the right and follow the path it takes you into a wooded area with some trails and you get to see where the two rivers meet, lovely little walks.
When we arrived we didn't have a set agenda so on the second day we visited the Loch Ness Centre which cost us £22 for a family ticket, you walk in each room and it shows you some video's, don't think it was worth £22 i'd say save your money and watch the dvd about loch ness that's in the cottage. We also went to see Urquart Castle, didn't pay to see that, managed to take a few photo's from car park. We then went on to Fort Agustus about 30 mins drive from cottage, beautiful little place where you get to see the boats going through the gates of the Caledonian canal, you can also get tours onto the loch here. The highlight of our days out where going to Eilean Donan Castle, the road there is stunning and i highly recommend it, the castle cost £17 for a family ticket which i thought was quite good, we then carried on north for a little bit and we saw the bridge to Skye so we had to cross it just to say we had been to Skye haha.
If your looking to go for a few drinks there's an inn just up the road, there's also a shop, chip shop and a few places to eat not to far from where your staying. I took my slow cooker with me and a roast so after a long day out sightseeing food was ready, just a matter of putting the wood burner on and watching a few dvds. I would highly recommend this cottage to anyone.
P.s There's a good chance of seeing some wildlife, looking out living room window i saw a deer and some pheasants, went into the kitchen and a pheasant was just staring in the window at me haha, loved it!
Brilliant cottage best we have ever been in, had everything we wanted, spotlessly clean and real comfy beds. Had some lovely rides out, great scenery everywhere particularly the ride to Ullapool and Sky. We will definitely come back to this cottage as soon as we can
