Excellent Stay

The house was very spacious, clean and had every facility that we could possibly need. The large garden was superb for the children and dog and the swimming pool excellent but very cold.

The property is very private and we used the outdoor eating facilities a lot.

Lovely House

A group of 10 of us stayed at the house for bank holiday weekend.

The house is lovely both inside and out and had all you need for a weekend or even a week stay.

Beautiful house in a quiet location very well equipped

8 adults, one 2 year old and 3 dogs stayed at this lovely house for a long weekend for my 50th birthday celebrations. The house had everything we needed and more, we especially liked the pool table, football table and log burner. Everywhere was very clean and bedrooms were comfortable and warm. Would thoroughly recommend.

Fantastic Cottage in lovely location

We spent a weekend at the House and we had great time. The rooms are great and the kitchen simply amazing and fully equipped. The place is very warm and despite the cold weather and the heavy rain, nobody complained. The living room is very cozy with its fireplace. Steph, the owner, is very helpful and replied immediately on any question. I would definitely recommend anyone to stay at the Parkgate House and we would love to go back!

Lovely home in a beautiful location.

We've just returned from a 5 night stay in this lovely spacious home, which is in an idyllic setting - an excellent location for exploring Somerset or just chilling out at home (huge selection of books and DVDs to keep you occupied). The bedrooms are lovely and we spent most of the time in the huge kitchen and living area. The few issues that we had with the heating were sorted out promptly by the owners. There are some great pubs nearby - I recommend both the Blue Ball Inn or the Rising Sun (walking distance) for great food and a friendly welcome. There's a co op in the nearby village of Bishops Lydeard - just a few minutes drive away. This was a family holiday - 5 adults and one dog but there's more than enough room for larger parties. Just note though if your dog is as lively as ours - the garden is open to the front and we had to keep him on a lead and keep a close eye in case he ran for the hills! But I highly recommend Parkgate House and am looking forward to a return visit.

Wonderful weekend retreat!

Well, what can I say about our stay at Parkgate House! Spacious, comfortable, well equipped and relaxing.

The house was perfect for a weekend away with a group of friends for a 40th birthday celebration.

Everything was just as described online and more! There were 9 adults and we were able to roam the house easily without being on top of each other.

All the facilities were excellent, from an amazing kitchen and 'games' area, to comfortable seating areas and bedrooms. The house was spotlessly clean on arrival.

Steph, the owner, couldn't have been more helpful. I was in contact with her endlessly running up to the visit, and she always replied swiftly with all the info I needed.

I would recommend this house to anyone. The only downside is it isn't available over Christmas time as it would make the perfect joint family getaway! Something to think about Steob 😆😉

P.s the local pubs are fab, particularly 'the rising sun' and the 'farmers arms'....just be careful along the country roads 😂

There is an exceptional local country pub with restaurant (walking distance 1.2 miles) & village amenities a short drive away, making this the perfect location for a relaxing stay. The property offers access to a network of footpaths with stunning countryside, perfect for cycling and dog walks, all the local pubs are dog friendly too! There are also two local riding stables providing a leisurely trot for all the family straight onto the Quantocks. Nearby is Cedar Falls Health Spa a renowned spa. It is situated in a stunning location at the foot of the Quantock Hills. After all this country air and rural relaxation one might decide it's time to hit the beach. Minehead is a 25 minute drive away with its bustling seafront and golden sandy beaches. For a more tranquil dog friendly beach why not visit Kilve Beach a fifteen minute drive to the North.

Other local attractions include the West Somerset Steam Railway which stops at all the stations right up to Minehead including Watchet and Blue Anchor Harbour (Dogs are welcome on the train too!), Exmoor National Park, Hestercombe Gardens and Dunster Castle and Mill. The county town of Taunton is only fifteen minutes drive with many shops and restaurants as well as a weekly farmers market. A well stocked farm shop is only five minutes' drive at Bishops Lydeard with a wide range of deli items.
