The spacious living areas are comfortably furnished, bright and airy with south facing windows overlooking the Lot Valley.

A wood burning stove in each of the Cantou fireplaces and radiators in all the rooms make the cottages ideal for a winter break. Logs are provided as are books and DVDs for those idle moments! Wi-fi is also available.

The fitted oak kitchens are equipped with oven, hob, fridge, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine.

In both cottages, the upstairs bedrooms have exposed beams, a vaulted ceiling, king-sized bed and ensuite bathroom with corner bath, toilet and hand basin.

The double bedroom on the lower ground floor of each cottage has twin beds and an ensuite shower room with toilet and hand basin.

A glazed door from each twin bedroom leads onto a south facing patio. From the main room of each cottage further glazed doors open onto private terraces equipped with BBQ, patio furniture and south facing views across the Lot Valley.

On the southern tip of Cantal overlooking the Lot Valley , La Maison du Four sleeps 4 and offers luxury accommodation, peace and solitude all year round. The cottage has two double bedrooms. The main bedroom has a king-sized bed and ensuite bathroom with toilet and basin. The second bedroom has twin beds and an ensuite shower room with basin and toilet.

The comfortably furnished lounge and dining area and modern, fitted oak kitchen have all the equipment needed to make your stay memorable, including wifi and UK television.

Outside there are two terraces facing the Lot Valley. The large, south-west facing terrace has a BBQ and patio furniture. Essential shade is provided by a large parasol or the roof of the adjoining bread oven from which the house has its name.

The other terrace is south facing, ideal for an early cup of coffee before the heat of the day or a glass of wine in the cool of the evening.

Richard Cole:Set in a tranquil hamlet Le Cantou was an excellent holiday base. The cottage was spotless and beautifully renovated to retain its character. Everything was provided including a welcome bottle of wine. Brian and Sarah included helpful advice about places to visit and restaurants so we were spoilt for choice. The scenery is beautiful with atmospheric towns and villages to explore – particular favourites were Conques and la Vinzelle – absolutely stunning. We can certainly recommend Le Cantou.

Located in a very tranquil and beautiful hamlet with views overlooking the Lot Valley, the cottage was beautifully restored & furnished to an excellent standard. It lacks nothing in terms of comfort & facilities. Wonderful area for walks, bird-watching, wine & restaurants, kayaking & historic towns such as Conques nearby. Our two week visit in July was blessed with great weather.

This beautiful little cottage provides a great base for exploring this wonderful, hidden part of France. The cottage is fully equipped, clean, comfortable ... and cool (essential as we had 2 weeks of 34C + heat!)

Wonderful views from the terrace and so quiet, with beautiful, clear skies at night. Wonderful small towns to explore, with great value restaurants and pretty bars. The nearby River Lot provides opportunities for canoeing, paddling and swimming and there are plenty of local walks.

The owners live nearby and are extremely friendly and helpful ... definitely a cottage and area to return to!

A week is not enough!

Wonderfully restored cottage, oozing character, within a hamlet clinging to the side of the Lot Valley above the village of Vieillevie.The property was clean, had good Wi-Fi and access to British television channels. The vista from the terrace is stunning, and you can soak up the sun and silence, with the exception of distant cow bells, using the patio furniture.Perfect relaxation! Or if you like to venture out, there is a good shop in the village, and very good restaurants for the most discerning palate. Enjoy the local wine, be sure to visit picturesque Conques.

Fabulous Cottage

From the descriptor we had a mental image of the cottage but what we saw when we first arrived way exceeded our vision. The view from the terrace was breathtaking, the interior of the cottage was beautifully restored to a very high standard and there was a bottle of local wine waiting for us. After unloading the car, we had a glass of wine and browsed through the wide range of brochures the owners had left for us. Even better the owners left a list of restaurants they recommended and outlined which days local markets were held. It was a difficult task to choose (there were so many scenic choices) which routes we would take each day and which restaurant we were frequent but that was half the fun. We even spent a delightful day canoeing the Lot. Sarah, who was recovering from surgery, dropped by to see if we needed anything--which we didn't. We are encouraging our friends to book this particular cottage and discover the Secret Lot.

The world renowned site of Conques, on the route to St Jacques de Compostella is nearby and there are many of the ‘Plus Beaux Villages de France’ to explore.

Locally there are numerous well marked walks and trails – our Welcome Pack supplies details and maps.

The River Lot is famous for canoeing and fishing. Canoes & kayaks may be hired nearby and afford a unique view of this stunning valley.

There are two horse riding centres within 30 mins and two golf courses from which the golfer has breathtaking views of the mountains and surrounding countryside.

For our winter guests, the large ski centre of Le Lioran is just 40 mins drive.

It is an ideal area for those seeking tranquillity but close to vibrant towns such as Aurillac with its international street festival in August, Figeac with its connections to Champollion and Rodez with its Medieval Cathedral and streets.

Throughout the summer months there are festivals, fetes, brocantes or markets somewhere in the vicinity.
