I moved to Devon from Hertfordshire fourteen years ago with my husband and two sons. After coming to this part of Devon on holiday for years we loved it so much we made the move. Being so close to the coast, we have enjoyed sailing and water sports. The beauty of this area is that it has everything from quiet beaches and woodland walks to bustling market towns and when the sun shines, there's no place better!
Andrea Bond purchased this barn in 2013
The Dairy is the ideal base for rambling, birdwatching, fishing, sailing or just plain old relaxing.
'Had a thoroughly enjoyable time. A fabulous cottage with all the little extras that make the difference and close to everywhere. Thank you.' Ms. W (Leicestershire)
'The Dairy is really lovely with outstanding decor..... we would love to live here. Very close to everything, and thank you for a good few days.' Mr & Mrs J (Bristol)
'....I will be spreading the word about your little gem of a cottage and hope to return before long.' Mrs B (North Dorset)
It's with great pleasure that we recommend "The Dairy" in Colyford in Devon just outside the seaside township of Seaton. We recently spent a week exploring the Jurassic Coast and found this beautiful two story refurbished stone dairy to be the perfect jumping off point. The property was absolutely immaculate...with every attention to detail covered, including wonderful welcome treats and fresh flowers for our stay. Communication with Andrea was excellent in all regards. The dairy is situated in a courtyard surrounded by other refurbished period buildings...all done with a high standard of professional craftsmanship. Clean and well kept with everything, I mean everything you need to set up home for the stay. We really appreciated the care given to every detail from the shower products to the fresh towels and kitchen supplies. The dairies back faces a main thoroughfare but road noise and distractions never really caused us any grief...not worth going elsewhere and the price was extremely reasonable for the quality of the experience. The town of Colyton is minutes away and lovely for a bite or shopping needs. The whole experience was great. My wife and I put high marks on cleanliness...we are somewhat funny that way...the Dairy was a pleasant surprise! For Americans, there was no tumble dryer, so be prepared to line dry your clothing...but never fear, Andrea has provided for that too. Wonderful old time bit of history in the area...we would recommend the experience to anyone...thanks you Andrea...🙋🏼♂️🙋🏼

We had a lovely time staying in your beautiful Dairy. A lovely welcome pack and everything thought of, down to the dvds, games and snuggle blankets in the lounge. A lovely location to explore the East Devon coast. Seaton was lovely and beach so close by.
Waiting for us... A delicious welcome pack...goodies, wine and all the essentials we needed to avoid a supermarket shop . The barn was immaculate( and I am very fussy), it smelt fresh( Andrea welcome dogs, but I would never have known) ,comfy beds, beautiful white company bed linen and furnished so tastefully and so many thoughtful touches, I've since been in touch with Andrea as I will copy the bedding she provided and of course she was as helpful as she has been from the first communication .
The weather was just turning chilly so we welcomed the heating...very cosy, I would happily go mid winter. The barn is situated around a courtyard of a few similar converted barns, very private and we found the people there( whom we seldom saw) very friendly.
This is by far the best cottage / barn we have ever stayed in, ( here or abroad) hence the review.
We will return !!
For an excellent nearby meal, we recommend The Ship Inn at nearby Axmouth village, but book in advance!!
For walking go to Beer ( village)....short walks, long walks , all scenic.
I agree with all other reviews and could not fault anything.
The owner kept in touch with us before our arrival and also when we arrived so if there was anything that we needed just to call her. No shortage of games, DVDs, and books and have never found any other property to provide these. All information regarding every appliance in the cottage was there and a big plus from me. The property was spotless and the ease for getting out and about the area was great. I would recommend this holiday barn a must and you would not be disappointed. I would give more than 5 stars if I could and have not done this for quite sometime.
Just returned from a wonderful week at The Dairy. Holidays with a 6 month old can be hard work but Andrea made it super easy. The highchair, stair gates and travel cot were all set up and ready to use when we arrived. There is room to use the cot in both bedrooms and the beds are super comfy. The cottage has everything you could possibly need and is cosy and warm for evenings spent indoors. Lounge has plenty of room for a crawling baby!! The sun terrace would have been perfect to use once he was in bed if the weather had been a bit warmer!! The cottage is in a perfect location for exploring; there are lots of lovely towns nearby and lots of pushchair friendly strolls along the seafront. We noticed lots of places for older children so we will definitely return.
From start to finish, the service we received from Andrea, owner of this fabulous property, was exemplary. The booking process and arrival/departure arrangements worked like a dream! We were met at The Dairy by Andrea, who showed us around the cottage and gave us information about local eateries, places of interest and suitable beaches for our excited 4 and 5 year olds! There was a fantastic welcome pack awaiting us, which included beautiful home made scones, jam, clotted cream, milk, eggs, fresh bread and a bottle of wine. The cottage was spotlessly clean and the attention to detail was second to none; it was extremely well equipped and everything had been thought of and provided for. The cottage was beautifully decorated and the furnishings and fixtures and fittings were of a very high quality. The beds were very comfortable; we all slept extremely well, which is usually a rarity on holidays! There was an abundance of wardrobe and storage space in the bedrooms, which was fantastic! There were toys and games provided for the children and their beds had been dressed with gorgeously appropriate bedlinen, which they adored. The Dairy was superbly positioned for us to explore much of the coastline and beautiful villages, towns and places of interest. Its courtyard setting was great; it was lovely and peaceful and safe for the children. We absolutely adored this cottage and can't wait to return; it was perfect! Can't recommend it highly enough.
