Chycoll Barn is a two bedroomed (sleeping 4) detached granite reverse level barn conversion uniquely positioned in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It is surrounded by countryside and abundant wildlife with distant sea views lying in a secluded setting at the end of a three-quarter mile unmade track (take care with low suspension vehicles) that only serves this property and the owners' other holiday let, Chycoll Cottage, and their own accommodation. On the ground floor is a double bedroom with ensuite shower, WC and wash basin, and a twin bedroom. There is also a family bathroom. Upstairs is an open plan kitchen/living room/dining room. There is full central heating plus a woodburner. There is a private garden in front of the barn and parking for two cars. With wonderful walks from the doorstep, this is a delightful base within easy reach of beaches, clifftops and some of the best surf in the country. Please bring your own travel cot. Wi-fi internet access is available.

Why David Ceredig-Evans chose South West Cornwall

We fell in love with the location as we drove up the 3/4 mile unmade lane and found a lovely unspoilt granite cottage and outbuildings set apart in its own grounds of about 6 acres.

What makes this barn unique

Chycoll Barn is situated up a 3/4 unmade track, in a completely unspoilt rural location yet only 15mins drive from the nearest surfing beaches at Gwenver and Sennen Cove. You can walk straight out of the property into glorious moorland situated several hundred feet above sea level giving distant views of the sea and coastline. The wildlife is extensive in this area with much to interest and entertain. On clear nights the stars are spectacular.

A hidden treasure

A perfect holiday location to relax and recharge the batteries. Total peace and quiet with nature everywhere you look. Badgers,owls,rabbits and hawks they all made an appearance. Our hosts were wonderful and the barn is beautiful with everything you need. There is so much to see and do in Cornwall and this is a perfect place to stay. The kids loved it, my dogs loved the walk each evening up and down the track and we chilled at the end of the night. Once in a while you find a little gem in life. This is one of them.

Beautiful, peaceful place with a warm welcome

We had a lovely week at Chycoll. A comfortable and well equipped barn in an amazing setting. It is peaceful and surrounded by farmland, yet a short distance from stunning beaches and places to visit.

Peaceful located barn to explore Cornwall

First time in Cornwall this peaceful located barn gaves us all possibilities. We had a short drives to enjoy the beaches in Penzance or Porthcurno at the South Coast or Gwynwer (Sennen) at the West Coast. In one week we managed to see all the stunning sights we wanted to see.

The equipment in the barn is very good and David and Coralie are very helpful and friendly owners.

Perfect location, brilliant hosts

Our stay at Chycoll Barn was just perfect. This is our favourite part of Cornwall and finding this lovely, secluded cottage made our stay even better than usual. The views and surrounding area are beautiful. If you haven't been before, you must stay here!

David and Coralie were brilliant hosts- extremely friendly and welcoming. We can't wait to come back. Thank you again.

Nearest Airport : Newquay at 86 Kilometres Nearest Barpub : St Just at 5 Kilometres Nearest Golf : St Just at 5 Kilometres Nearest Train : Penzance at 8 Kilometres Nearest Motorway : A30 at 5 Kilometres Nearest Restaurant : St Just at 5 Kilometres Nearest Beach : Sennen at 8 Kilometres Car: recommended

Coast/Beach:

15min. drive to the golden sands of Gwenver (great surfing) beach, part of Whitesand Bay which includes Sennen Cove (excellent family facilities). The beautiful beaches at St Ives are 25mins drive away, and the beaches around Penzance and Marazion (windsurfing) are 20min. drive away.

Travel:

Journeying by car down to West Penwith is much easier now with the M4/M5 and the A303 and A30. Trains into Penzance take a lovely scenic route along the coast in the latter part of the run. Lands End airport is 10min drive away (flights to the Isles of Scilly take 15mins) & Newquay airport is about an hour's drive away. Flights from there to the Isles of Scilly take 30mins.

If you are not travelling to Cornwall by car, then car hire is essential if you are planning to explore the area.

Distances:

Carn Euny Iron Village is only a few hundred yards away!

St Just (3 miles) has a supermarket, Post Office, several excellent pubs and art galleries.

Penzance (6 miles) has several supermarkets (Tesco has 24hr shopping, online facilities and home delivery) and historic buildings and museums.

St Ives (15 miles) has a wide selection of art galleries, boutiques and great restaurants.

There are excellent Farmers' Markets in Paul (4 miles), Pendeen (4 miles), Penzance (5 miles)

Booking Notes:
A 50% deposit confirms the reservation. The balance is due four weeks before the holiday. If you cancel we shall try to secure another letting. If we are successful in getting another booking we will return your rental amount less an administration fee of £35. We strongly advise holiday insurance even by guests who are based in the UK.

There is a Breakage Deposit of £150 payable 4 weeks before the holiday. This will be returned between 7 and 10 days after your departure.

Changeover Day:
Changeover day is Saturday. Arrival anytime after 3.00pm, departure no later than 10.00am.

Notes on prices:
Prices range from £400 to £800 per week depending on the date. There are no added costs for linen/towels and heating.

If you are bringing one well behaved dog there is an additional charge of £25 to cover the extra cleaning.

  • Notes on accommodation: Chycoll Barn is presented thoroughly clean and tidy for each set of guests. We would ask guests on departure to place all used bedding (pillow cases, duvet covers, sheets) and towels in a pile inside each bedroom, and to take reasonable steps to leave the property clean and tidy. Chycoll Barn is a non smoking dwelling, however guests are welcome to smoke outside. A well-behaved dog is welcome as long as it is up-to-date with any flea and/or worming treatment. Your dog is only allowed in the front hallway, and upstairs in the sitting room but not in any of the bedrooms, nor on any of the furniture. Also, the dog must not be left alone in the property at any time. Free wi-fi internet access is available. Please bring your own beach towels. The post code for Chycoll Barn is TR20 8QY. Specific directions to the property will be given when the balance for a booking is paid. Outside: There is a private garden in front of the barn. A barbecue is provided, with a table, two benches and two chairs. Utility Room: This cupboard contains the washing machine and folding clothes dryer. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Bath/hand towels (not beach towels) and linen are included and changed when the property is cleaned on the changeover day, Saturday, between 10am and 3pm. If you are staying for longer than one week towels and linen can be changed at extra cost. Other: There is a small stone built outhouse which is suitable for keeping bikes, wetsuits, surfboards etc.
