Peaceful located barn to explore Cornwall

  • 4 of 5

First time in Cornwall this peaceful located barn gaves us all possibilities. We had a short drives to enjoy the beaches in Penzance or Porthcurno at the South Coast or Gwynwer (Sennen) at the West Coast. In one week we managed to see all the stunning sights we wanted to see.

The equipment in the barn is very good and David and Coralie are very helpful and friendly owners.

Lovely comfortable home from home.

Lovely well equipped barn conversion. Good customer service. Welcome tea and cake provided on arrival.

Heating on as it was quite chilly at the beginning of the week.

So much to see in this corner of Cornwall and plenty of local walks on the doorstep.

Barn conversion in quiet part of western Cornwall

  • 5 of 5

A lovely stone barn converted with all modern conveniences. Two bedrooms and two bathrooms (both with showers), large living/dining room, washing machine, dishwasher, choice of balcony or garden courtyard for outdoor dining. Quiet rural location but only a few miles to Penzance, Land's End, Mousehole, Minack Theatre etc. The cottage was immaculate and well-equipped with everything we needed for a great holiday. The owners were very friendly and helpful in advising of the area's attractions. There were some very good pubs and restaurants nearby serving local seafood. We especially enjoyed walking out to St Michael's Mount and timing our return to the mainland to coincide with the incoming tide -- great fun for our grandson as the sea closed in on us!

An ideal hide-away to escape, relax and unwind

  • 5 of 5

If you are looking for a place to stay where you can quite literally get away from the hustle and bustle of daily life for a week or two, then Chycol is the ideal hide-away. Set in the beautiful North Cornish countryside, you can enjoy the peace and quiet knowing that you will not be disturbed. Chycol has all the mod cons (perhaps a tumble dryer is the only thing missing), inc Sky TV and Broad-band (and mobile phone signal) if you feel you must stay in touch with the outside world, but once at Chycol you can relax and weather permitting, spend time sitting in the garden or breakfast on the balcony. It has everything you need and major supermarket will deliver your food, if you don't feel like venturing out. It is close to footpaths and an enjoyable walk (good walking shoes required) can be made to visit stunning Sennen Cove. St Just is just 10 mins away in the car for local shops, pubs and takeaways and 5 minutes more is Cape Cornwall. St Just however is the opposite of Chycol and in peak season is a busy place and car parking on the main public car park should be considered, as on-street parking on double yellows is common-place!

David and Coralie will ensure you have a warm welcome and are only next door if for any reason you can think of anything that isn't catered for.

Like all things you will have to the rough with the smooth and being so far into the country there is a drive up a farm track to the house which will remind you that this is rural living at its best. If you allow plenty of time (5 mins) to your journey, you don't have a low sprung sports car, and you take it slowly then the drive will add to the whole experience of the 'great escape'.

From the Owner

We fell in love with the location as we drove up the 3/4 mile unmade lane and found a lovely unspoilt granite cottage and outbuildings set apart in its own grounds of about 6 acres.
