About the property

Check out our new web-site @ www.stmellionholidaycottage.com/

12 Oakridge is a holiday cottage located in a tranquil setting close to St Mellion village in Cornwall. The lodge is set in 39 acres of countryside bordering the fabulous St Mellion International golf and leisure resort and is close to the wonderful beaches of both Devon and Cornwall.

The lodge comes with two golf and two leisure passes which permit free use of the St Mellion facilities, including the two golf courses, swimming and leisure pools (NB; children 12 and under get in free), sauna, steam room, jacuzzi, gym, tennis courts, etc.

St Mellion International Resort has two championship golf courses and has previously hosted the Benson & Hedges International Open and English Seniors Open. The Jack Nicklaus designed ‘Signature Course’ (the UK’s first JN course and one of only three in England) is a real challenge but will live long in the memory. The 'Kernow' course isn’t quite as challenging but is certainly no walk in the park.

Perfect home away from home

  • 5 of 5

What a lovely country escape, a true home away from home. A great sociable property, stunning in the winter, we can only imagine what it’d be like in the summer. We can’t wait to come back for another visit.

Ideal accommodation and location

  • 5 of 5

When we arrived we were pleased to find the accommodation in such a quiet and rural location, being within the St Mellion estate. Access is via a number of steps which wasn’t an issue for us. The sleeping accommodation is on the ground floor each if the 3 bedrooms with its own en suite which was ideal for us. The living space was open plan and very well equipped.... we all commented that the 2 outdoor seating arrangements would have been appreciated if it had not been December! The issue we had on arrival was swiftly dealt with by the owner. We enjoyed our 3 night stay and would highly recommend it. Plenty of places to visit in the area. As we were visiting and catching up with relatives we unfortunately didn’t get time to use the resorts facilities, so cannot comment.

Owner's Response: Thank you very much for your kind comments & observations, I am very pleased that you found the accommodation and location to your liking. We would be very pleased to welcome you back at some time in the future, perhaps when the weather is a little more favourable for enjoying the decking and veranda and you have the time to take advantage of the St Mellion resort facilities for which we provide free passes. Kind regards Simon Parker

Great location for golf and the passes give great value especially as they give 10% off in the hotel

  • 4 of 5

Nice quiet location but close to the golf courses. Excellent value when you have the golf passes which also give 10% discount in the hotel bars and restaurants. Nice modern living area but feel the bathrooms are need of refurbishment.

This was our second visit, and as previously the house was perfect, exceptionally clean and homely. We loved the passes to the St Mellion Golf and Spa Hotel, and the yummy cream tea at Cotehole. We would definitely recommend this property.

Beautiful location. Great upstairs.

  • 4 of 5

Whilst upstairs is roomy and airy. The downstairs bedrooms were cramped and were damp. Turning the heating on helped. Grounds well kept and everything you need is available in the accommodation. A lot of steps up from the car park. St Mellion International Resort a great bonus. Challenging golf and great spa and pool.

Everything and more!

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the lodge. The open plan layout on the top floor worked perfectly and the views are great. Our grandson really enjoyed using the binoculars to watch the birds and people playing golf. The lodge is very well equipped although we couldn't find the corkscrew to open the lovely bottle of red wine that had been left for us! I'm sure it was there somewhere but it was hiding well. There was a constant supply of hot water and the fluffy white towels were wonderful. The use of the facilities at the St Mellion resort including the golf is a wonderful bonus and it was well used by all of us. It's a great base to explore Cornwall from and we will certainly be booking again.

About Simon Parker

Although we love to visit Oakridge as often as we can, unfortunately, due to work & family commitments this does not happen nearly as often as we would like. As the lodge is not a cosy second home benefit for us, we are therefore pleased to offer our guests the opportunity to enjoy everything that the property and location has to offer.

Guest reviews and Visitor Book comments consistently indicate that people not only appreciate the accommodation and the superb golf & leisure facilities that St Mellion has to offer, but also consider that 12 Oakridge provides an ideal base from which to explore the numerous and varied local attractions.

We do hope that you enjoy your stay.

Kind Regards

The Parker Family

Simon Parker purchased this house in 2009

Why Simon Parker chose Pillaton

We had been looking for a holiday property in Devon or Cornwall as a family getaway and long-term investment and stumbled across the Oakridge estate almost by mistake. We immediately fell in love with the lodge, its 'up-side down' living concept and the tranquil location with views out over the golf courses at St Mellion.

Our love of Oakridge was helped by the fact that a number of family members are keen golfers and were enticed by the superb golf on offer at St Mellion International Resort. The Jack Nicklaus designed 'Signature' course and the 'Kernow' course provide a varied, challenging and rewarding (at least some of the time!) golf in a superb setting.

The 13th hole of the 'Signature' course is just a short walk away across the bridge outside the lodge with the clubhouse and leisure club a short stroll away via the golf course buggy paths.

What makes this house unique

To enable guests to take advantage of the facilities we provide two golf and two leisure passes to St Mellion which permit two people to play free golf on either the 'Signature' course or the 'Kernow' course whilst two people enjoy the leisure facilities which include a 25m pool, leisure pool, jacuzzi, steam room, sauna, CV gym, tennis courts, etc. These passes are complimentary for our guests and are included in the rental price and we hope that people appreciate and make good use of them during their stay.

In addition to the golf and leisure facilities, 12 Oakridge provides a superb base from which to explore the beautiful countryside with so much to see and do within just a short drive - there is far too much to list but a few family favourites are Whitsand Bay, Mt Edgcumbe Country Park, Cotehele House & Quay and Antony House.
