About the property

Check out our new web-site @ www.stmellionholidaycottage.com/

12 Oakridge is a holiday cottage located in a tranquil setting close to St Mellion village in Cornwall. The lodge is set in 39 acres of countryside bordering the fabulous St Mellion International golf and leisure resort and is also close to the wonderful beaches of both Devon and Cornwall.

12 Oakridge comes with two golf and two leisure passes which permit free use of the St Mellion facilities, including the two golf courses, swimming and leisure pools (NB; children 12 and under get in free), sauna, steam room, jacuzzi, gym, tennis courts, etc.

St Mellion International Resort has two championship golf courses and has previously hosted the Benson & Hedges International Open and English Seniors Open. The Jack Nicklaus designed ‘Signature Course’ (the UK’s first JN course and one of only three in England) is a real challenge but will live long in the memory. The 'Kernow' course isn’t quite as challenging but is certainly no walk in the park.

About Simon Parker

Although we love to visit Oakridge as often as we can, unfortunately, due to work & family commitments this does not happen nearly as often as we would like.

This is not a cosy second home benefit for us therefore we are pleased to offer our guests the opportunity to enjoy everything that the property and location has to offer.

Our Visitor Book comments consistently indicate that people not only appreciate the accommodation and the superb golf & leisure facilities that St Mellion has to offer, but also consider that 12 Oakridge provides an ideal base from which to explore the numerous and varied local attractions.

We do hope that you enjoy your stay.

Kind Regards

The Parker Family

Simon Parker purchased this house in 2009

Why Simon Parker chose Cornwall

We had been looking for a holiday property in Devon or Cornwall as a family getaway and long-term investment and stumbled across Oakridge almost by mistake. How lucky we were - we immediately fell in love with both the house, the 'up-side down' living concept and the location on a tranquil private estate.

Admittedly, this was helped by the fact that certain family members are keen golfers and the Jack Nicklaus designed 'Signature' course plus the 'Kernow' course at St Mellion International Resort provide such varied, challenging and rewarding (at least some of the time!) golf in a superb setting.

That and the fact that the 13th hole on the 'Signature' course is a 1 minute walk across the bridge outside the house with the clubhouse and leisure club a short gentle stroll away across the golf course pretty much sealed it for us.

What makes this house unique

To enable guests to take advantage of the facilities we provide two golf and two leisure passes to St Mellion which permit two people to play free golf on either the 'Signature' course or the 'Kernow' course whilst two people enjoy the health club facilities which include a 25m pool, leisure pool, jacuzzi, steam room, sauna, CV gym, tennis courts, etc. These passes are complimentary for our guests and included in the rental price and we hope that people appreciate and make good use of them during their stay.

In addition to the golf and leisure facilities, 12 Oakridge provides a superb base from which to explore the beautiful countryside with so much to see and do within just a short drive - there is far too much to list but a few family favourites are Whitsand Bay, Mt Edgcumbe Country Park, Cotehele House & Quay and Antony House.

Great property in perfect location

  • 5 of 5

Property was clean tidy and perfectly adequate for 4 adults. At full capacity (6) it would be a little cramped. We would have preferred chairs at the table rather than wooden benches but as we ate out mostly it was not an issue. The Golf and Leisure passes were what made our stay and we were blessed with great weather for most of the week so were able to enjoy them in full.

A wonderful, peaceful get away

  • 5 of 5

We spent a lovely long weekend at 12 Oakridge Lodge. Booking was straightforward and the owner was very responsive and helpful in the run up to our stay. The lodge was looked after, clean and tidy, we loved the layout and instantly felt settled. It is well stocked in the kitchen and we were kindly left a loaf of bread and bottle of wine as well as a few other welcome items which were much appreciated. Set on the outskirts of the St Mellion golf resort, the free passes came in very handy for golf and use of the leisure facilities there, which were easy to access. The other lodges are fairly close by, but not at all in a way that makes you feel on top of one another. It's nicely laid out, well designed and private, and the location is absolutely lovely sat on a hillside. I would certainly stay again.

Owner's Response: Hello Helen Many thanks for the lovely review - it is so nice to get such positive feedback from guests. We are constantly investing in the upkeep of the property and I'm glad that it met your expectations and that the small welcome pack that we provide went down well. It is also encouraging to know that people make good use of the golf and leisure facilities for which we provide complimentary passes. Thank you once again for taking the time to post a review, we do hope that we might be able to welcome you back in the not too distant future. Kind Regards Simon

An amazing and thrilling stay

  • 5 of 5

We loved the house with amazing views, modern interior - it is a lovely family holiday home. The kids loved the quiet estate road, as they are free to roam by themselves on their skateboards. We loved our stroll along the beach at Whitsand Bay, with a breathtaking coastline, finished off with a delicious lunch at the Cliff Top Cafe.

Owner's Response: Thank you to my wonderful daughter :-) for posting a lovely review during our recent Parker family visit. We haven't been for a while which unfortunately is all too easy to achieve given other commitments and guest bookings, however, although we only stayed for a couple of days we once again thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and the feedback we get from guests suggests that they do also! Great place to stay - Something suit everyone

  • 5 of 5

What a lovely place this is!

We came for a family stay with three generations in tow.

A nice quiet spot with some lovely walks right on the doorstep.

Dad took advantage of the golf pass, which he loved. My wife and I used the leisure passes took our 5 month old to the swimming pool. The leisure complex has great facilities with a separate fitness pool and kids pool, as well as a spa and restaurant.

The lodge itself was clean and tidy with great facilities. The open plan kitchen, dining and living area was perfect for us. To top it off the owners couldn't be more accomdating. Looking forward to coming back here!

Great place to stay, good location and the spa is lovely!

  • 4 of 5

All the family really enjoyed their stay. It's set in a peaceful location away from the main roads. The living area has an open fire which is great on the chilly evenings and it really warms up quickly. We made use of the resort which has clean and well kept pools/sauna etc. The only negative was that the shower in one of the rooms constantly went from hot to cold and the internet speed was painfully slow but overall we were very happy with our stay here and would recommend it to others.

Attractive accommodation

  • 3 of 5

We stayed here for half term and it was a nice play to stay and I am sure in the summer the outside areas would be lovely. There was a great view of the woods and up to one of St Mellion's golf courses and we were lucky to see two deer and lots of pheasants and rabbits which was fantastic for the children. The house comes with access to St Mellion's golf and leisure facilities but be warned when you collect the passes and property keys you will be asked for a £20 deposit in cash to ensure you return the leisure passes. I don't have a major issue with this but it would be nice to know in advance and I object to having to pay cash when I rarely carry it. The house is fully furnished and is an upside down house and if you stay in winter be careful to watch that the bedrooms don't get too hot and make sure the heating is off rather than timed as it comes on at very odd times and you end up getting too hot at night. Good to have wi-fi and a dishwasher. Everything very clean. I would recommend this for able bodied people but be warned if you have mobility issues there are steps from the car park and inside the stairs have two turns which is hard on the knees and once upstairs you do tend to do a lot of walking. This is a good house for a family of four to have a holiday.
