About the property

House in Payzac, Nr.Lanouaille, Dordogne, Aquitaine, France - Located In A Peaceful Village An Ideal Base For Walking/cycling And Just 6km From Lake Rouffiac

The holiday home is light and airy and in the height of summer keeps nice and cool for those balmy evenings. It still retains many of the original features including fireplaces, log fire, chandeliers and floor to ceiling windows. It has all the facilities you need to make your holiday complete with plenty of towels, comfy beds and powerful showers. It is located in the centre of Payzac and is next door but one to the local church. There is also a bar in the village square. Outside on the terrace its like being in the middle of the countryside, watching the birds and wildlife and the taking in the beautiful Dordogne scenery. Deep night sky and star gazing are in abundance.

About Julie Marshall

Will and I live in Wigan (North West of England) and both work full time. We have been married for just 13 years and we have 2 dogs Mindy and Tasha who are an important part of our family life.

We love the outdoor life and we visit our holiday home as often as we can, along with family and friends. We do plenty of walking cycling, sight seeing and dining out with friends whilst we are there.

Julie Marshall purchased this house in 2007

Why Julie Marshall chose Perigord Vert

We chose our holiday home in the Dordogne because of its stunning unspoilt scenery. When we first walked into the house we felt at home and there was no going back once we saw the view from the patio. The home is in a quiet, friendly and traditional village (Payzac), it has the best of both worlds - close to all amenities (fresh croissants in the morning), but it is also secluded as it is not overlooked at the rear. We're still finding new places to visit and we always come back re energised and looking forward to our next trip.

Whilst on holiday an elderly French gentleman asked if he could look over our home as during the war he had been evacuated there from Paris, this experience was very special for all of us, and we now know of other residents happy memories spent in the house.

What makes this house unique

Our holiday home is spacious and is ideal for families of all sizes from couples through to guests booking with friends. It is in an ideal location for all the tourist attractions that the Dordogne has to offer.

Guests can use our bikes in the cellar - womans Speicalize, mans Boardman, an hybrid marin and a racing bike. The area is ideal for cycling as you're not far from quiet country roads where you very often don't meet any cars (maybe a tractor though).

Many of our guests have been overwhelmed with balmy evenings on the terrace, lost in their thoughts, with the brightness of the stars, and swallows swooping in the valley, late at night. If you decide to book our home we hope you also have a wonderful time exploring the wonderful delights that the Dordogne has to offer.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Had a wonderful relaxing break at La Vielle Boulangerie. It was Early October and the weather was still lovely and sunny and we often dined outside on the patio where the view over the valley is fantastic. The village is lovely and peaceful and the locals are friendly. Lake Ruffiac is close by which was a great place to walk and explore.

The house itself was home from home, very clean and traditional in style but with all mod cons and the bed was really comfy. We also lit the log burner a few times which was really atmospheric and cosy. All in all we had a wonderful, relaxing break and I would definitely go back. H and D Oct 13

Booked this villa at quite short notice and the owner was very accommodating and pleased to help - a real bonus! The villa is well appointed and we had lots of space. Lots of interesting days out D July 13

"Lovely location and wonderful views, everything you need to make a relaxing holiday, we were at a family wedding at Chateau Durante Lanoauille Apr 13

The nearest airports are Limoges (one hour drive) and Bergerac (90 minutes drive). Ryan Air and Flybe fly to both destinations from many airports in the UK. Cityjet flies from London City to Brive just 30 minustes drive from Payzac.

If flying car hire is essential.

There is a restaurant in the Hotel Voyager, located in Payzac and other restaurants close (less than 10 miles) include Savignac Ledrier, Pompadour, Genis, Exideul to name but a few. Local delicacies include fois gras, confit de canard and if you like a desert - ask for a Café Gourmand - normally 3 mini deserts and a shot of espresso - yummy!

We have 4 bikes that guests can use and these are located in the cellar.
