About the Owner

Martin & Caryn, that's us, moved to Birchley House Farm in October 2011. Whilst living in the Coachhouse we obtained planning permission to convert the attached dilapidated Oast and farm buildings. We are now enjoying the fruits of our labour and The Coachhouse once our home, could be yours for as long as you wish. Located in a most idyllic position with the most spectacular views we enthuse in our homes history and have kept many of the original features. The buildings were once the Coachhouse and farm buildings, serving a fine Grade II* listed property still glorious today. Feel free to meander our 20 acres enjoying views little changed over the centuries. There is a peace to this place we just can't explain, so we don't, we just enjoy it.

Many thanks for letting us stay at your lovely Coach House. We have had a wonderful time starting from the warm welcome you gave us when we first arrived. The setting and location is perfect and the Coach House itself is cosy and inviting and obviously been decorated and furnished to a high standard. I'm going home to decorate! We would love to stay again and will definitely be recommending the Coach House to family and friends. Best wishes for the future.

Thank you so much for your warm welcome ! The Coach House is a delightful place to stay, and Biddenden was the perfect place for exploring lots of family friendly attractions. We enjoyed Leeds Castle, Bodiam Castle, the steam train from Tenterden, Camber Sands, Kent life and Richborough Roman Fort, and ran out of time for lots of other things !. Thank you for your patience with the boys' obsession with your dogs ! We hope to be back some time as we loved the Coach House.

The Warren Family, London. August 2014.

The reception we got when we arrived made us feel right at home. We really have enjoyed this cottage, the back garden and the fields around. Both Lottie and Bertie have a special place in our hearts. Your location is perfect, we made a lot of day trips. Thank you both very much and hope to come back in the future. The Baars Family, The Netherlands July 2014.

Thanks for the lovely stay at your wonderful place. We really enjoyed the house, garden, dogs and little chats !! During our stay we visited "Batemans" "The Royal Pavilion Bighton, London and the surroundings. We hope to come back some time (when the Highland Cows are grazing). Thank you we really felt very welcome!! The Nieuwenhuiren Family, The Netherlands. July 2014

Material happiness is the English Country Cottage, our stay here could not be more perfect even if a princess' palace. Would stay again any time. Mark, Elaine and Dixie, Kuala Lumpar. July 2014

Very nice cottage in a quiet area

  • 4 of 5

We spent a very nice time in the coach house. The house is lovingly decorated, great renovated and well equipped. With 4 people you have plenty of space. We especially enjoyed the beautiful outdoor place with the view in the garden. As well as the lovely dogs and cows.

The owners greeted us warmly and took care of all our concerns. We have found it hard to say goodbye again. Thanks to Caryn and Martin.

We can only recommend this house!

Excellent cottage, Location and Hosts

  • 5 of 5

We have been staying in cottages all over England for the past 20 years and this is the best one we have ever stayed in. Caryn and Martin are so lovely, helpful and welcoming. The welcome hamper was a really nice touch but then to look in the fridge and find some groceries to get us started was very unexpected and kind. The cottage has everything you could need or want, all in excellent condition too. The location is quiet but not far to drive out to many places of interest. I would not hesitate to recommend this cottage to anyone and I have never done that before. I hope one day we may meet Caryn and Martin again as they are the perfect hosts and the cottage they have created really is a home from home.

Quirky, comfortable cottage in quiet rural setting

  • 5 of 5

Tucked up a quiet lane not far out of Biddenden, this modernised converted coachhouse on a small rural property was just lovely. We received good directions form the owners, so no trouble finding it. We were made very welcome and any/all requests for information or help during our week there were responded to with the utmost friendliness and speed. Great hosts who left us alone unless we asked for help. Cottage is well modernised and equipped but reveals its functional history as a coach house and is tucked beside the owners' oast house and barn residence. Walks in the farmland were delightful in bluebell season, and we used the cottage as a base for touring from as far east as Canterbury and as far west as the Seven Sisters in Sussex. We think the Coach House exceeded the expectations in the photos and write-up and would happily stay there again if in that part of England.

Old Coachouse Biddenden

  • 5 of 5

Description was certainly accurate. A delightful property extremely comfortable and well equipped, the owners had thought of everything. They provided a welcome hamper and an excellent bottle of local wine chilled and awaiting our arrival! It sits in a quiet location and in a perfect position for visiting N T properties and many picturesque towns of Kent. We would certainly recommend it to anyone wishing to visit this county. great stay

  • 5 of 5

It is a beautiful house in quiet surroudings, The house was clean and the beds are very good, as well as the whole equipment. There was a warm welcome of the landlady with a lot of stuff to feel welcome, like milk, bread, coffee, tablets for the dishwasher and washing-machine. It is a good central place to go to the many steamtrains in Kent. We liked the Red Lion pub in Biddenden.

Facilities

From the Owner

The Coachouse is a wonderful property full of character. Enter the charming kitchen from the very small hall area. From the kitchen you enter the cosy living room with wood burning stove. From the kitchen you may also access a wash room which avoids you having to run up and down the stairs. The stairs leads to the hall from which you access a very spacious bathroom with lovely long bath in which to relax. A powerful shower is available to invigorate you for your days exploring. The hall continues to two bedrooms, the largest of which has a king size bed, the second can be made up as two singles, or a super kingsize double. Outside are far reaching views, with a large patio area leading up steps to a lawn area. Relax and watch the cowl of the Oast turn in the gentle summer breeze.
