Stunning place and wonderful host

  • 5 of 5

We arrived to find a place that exceeded our best expectations. The house, garden and location is stunning. Wonderful views from the beautiful bedrooms and the sun room, dining room and living room were perfect too.

Our host had been incredibly thoughtful and left us a bottle of fizz in the fridge - what a wonderful welcome.

It really felt like a home and we had a great family holiday.

I'm a bit confused by the less positive reviews of the place. We really couldn't have asked for more. On the one rainy day of our stay we had a great choice of loads of DVD's for the whole family and even a fantastic vinyl collection to sift through. A huge range of books (we didn't manage to read as just the one rainy day) and TV with freeview.

The house was impeccably clean and the linen on the beds was high quality and the beds extremely comfortable. Going to sleep to the sound of the sea was blissful.

In the evening we sat at the end of the garden and watched the sun go down with a g&t as the waves lapped up on the beach almost at our feet.

I can't recommend this place highly enough and we will definitely return for another visit.

Thank you!

A fantastic property with amazing sea views

  • 5 of 5

The house is in a fantastic location and is very comfortable and well appointed. There are sea views from nearly every room, especially the bedrooms, as the beds have been heightened so that you can see the sea while lying in bed. The kitchen is large and has every utensil you could ever need, and there is a large stock of books and DVDs in the lounge. The icing on the cake is that the beach is at the bottom of the garden. Being able to breakfast while taking in the view, and watching the sunset over a calm sea in the evenings was a real treat. In addition to the lovely house, the Chichester area, in which it is situated provides a multitude of attractions. We will certainly be hoping to return to the property in the future.

Needs Some Attention

  • 2 of 5

Solent Cottage is in a good location with ample sized comfortable rooms and with the beach accessed through the rear garden. However we found the gardens had been poorly maintained and were increasingly overgrown which created a poor impression and made the opening of some windows and doors difficult if not impracticable. There was much clutter in the back garden which presented an issue to use the side entrance. The bedrooms were very comfortable and clean but the kitchen especially was in need of a thorough clean. The games room fell far short of the description given on the website.

Wonderful house by the sea

  • 5 of 5

There are superb sea views from just about every room in this house. I don't think it is possible to be any closer to the sea. If you love the sea, you will love this house, it is a totally unique experience.

The house is very well equipped like a family home and cooking anything in the kitchen was a pleasure as it has everything you could possibly need. The living room is lovely and cosy with the very efficient wood burning fire, and the sun room is a wonderful place to sit in peace and read. The house was decorated beautifully for Christmas for us. It is big enough for quite a few guests, much bigger than the photos show. I would highly recommend this cottage and I will certainly be visiting again.

An absolutely lovely and very well stocked cottage. We satyed with another family and it couldn't have been more perfect, breakfast right on the beach, snoozing on the sofas, walks along the coast, and lots of fab food. The beds were comfy and overall an extremely easy cottage to relax in. Thankyou

Activity and Interests

Solent Cottage is on a private stretch of Selsey West Beach which is accessed from the bottom of the garden and down a few steps. It's a lovely pebble beach at high tide, receding to sand as the tide goes out. Sunsets over the Isle of Wight and towards Spinnaker Tower in the distance are spectacular. At the end of the road is the Coast Guard's Tower, and Bracklesham Bay is beyond. Selsey East Beach has the Lifeboat Station and is walking distance.

Selsey is 88 miles from London, 55 miles from Gatwick Airport, 82 miles from Heathrow Airport.

Solent Cottage is just 7 miles south of the Cathedral city of Chichester and its famous arts festival. Pagham Bay nature research is along the bay, Brighton and Bognor Regis are a short train ride along the coast from Chichester.
