About the Owner

We have had a traditional Charentaise holiday home in this area of France for 10 years. Whilst walking along the beach in 2010 we noticed a plot of land for sale which was in the most amazing location. Set amongst the dunes and pines just 2 minutes walk to the sea it was an opportunity to build a uniquely striking property with all modern conveniences.

The result, finished in May 2013, exceeded our expectations and we intend to enjoy the house with our family for many years to come

August 2013: One of the most beautifully appointed houses I have ever stayed in….with the beach just moments away it was the perfect location for a real " get away from it all" holiday. The house was equipped with everything I could wish for…clean crisp linen, refreshingly vigorous showers and blackout shutters which turned the brightest day into night if required. The cleverly planned balconies mean you can have breakfast outside in the morning sun and dine watching the sun go down from either end of the house with as much sun exposure as you like.

There are opportunities to walk on the beach, go for meandering bike rides and lovely the French restaurants situated in nearby towns meant that we always had choices about where to eat

I can't wait to return…there is plenty of room for all of my family and friends and we can escape from the world in our own space and luxury.

Wonderful modern beach house

My family of five (kids 10,10 and 7) spent a wonderful week in Longeville this summer. The house is in a wonderful location right beside a great beach where the children swam and played cricket everyday. The beach is safe and has a sailing school with English speaking teachers. We spent our time between the house, the pool, the table tennis and the beach and didn't need to go any further. When we did leave the house we took a 45 min boat ride to Ile de Re for the day where we hired bikes and ate Oysters.

The house is beautifully designed and very spacious and has all the facilities you need. We were welcomed and well looked after by Rob who is English, knows the area well and very willing to help.

We had a super week in a great house.

Although most your needs were met at the house and the immediate vicinity there are theme parks nearby for children and adults..Puy du Fou, Indian Forest and Futurescope. Out of school holidays the weather is still great in June and September, so a good time for adults seeking a more tranquil vacation

Simply Superb !

We visited the Beach House as two windsurfing families (kids 11-14 years old ) during the May half term break. This property will not disappoint - wonderful contemporary upside down living space both inside and out with all the modern facilities you would expect. The wrap around south facing terrace meant we could enjoy the sunshine the whole of the day and evening. Spacious comfortable bathrooms and bedrooms with blackout blinds ensured complete rest and relaxation.

The surrounding areas are blissfully peaceful but with plenty to do if you so wish. A two minute walk to the beach was ideal for us windsurfers. The picturesque bay proved to be an excellent windsurfing spot both for beginners/intermediates and more advanced alike. During the week the wind was mostly west/north west which meant the corner of the bay was ideal for gentle windsurfing and body boarding whilst out past the point at Maison de Clemenceau more serious windsurfing could be found for the adventurous, with waves over 1 metre. There are also a number of other good beaches to visit with the children including Le Veillon near Port de Bourgenay and at La Tranche sur Mer.

A short drive away is the Indian Forest park where our children had an amazing time on the water jumps - never seen anything like it before! An absolute must. Within the park there is also zip wiring.

Most evenings we were exhausted and it was a pleasure to relax in the hot tub followed with a bbq and the odd glass of wine. But if you wanted to eat out, within a short walk there is the wonderful Restaurant de l'ocean where we enjoyed a very good meal.

Could have easily stayed another week and we would all definitely like to return to this most delightful location and property.

A wonderful house in a peaceful nature

I went in the Beach House last summer. This house it's so close from the beach that you can feel the sea ans sand from you bedroom. During the day you can see some squirrel in the pin wood. You also have the possibility to go for a walk on the beach, for the sunset or the sunrise, or for a run with the sun on our face. In the house you have : everything. All you will need it's here, in a perfect comfort. For people who loved to shared big lunch table, the kitchen is perfect, big, practice and open. The living and dining space are spacious enough to gather everybody and have lovely time all together. The exterior space are lovely as well, you have the feet in sand, can lay down listening at the bird, have a BBQ with friends as dinner, enjoy the terasse to read a book. I had a such lovely time in this house, I can't wait to came back !

Je suis allé à la "Beach House" l'été dernier pour plusieurs jours. Cette maison, il est si proche de la plage que vous pouvez sentir le sable depuis votre chambre. Pendant la journée, vous pouvez voir des écureuils dans le bois de pin. Vous avez également la possibilité de faire une promenade sur la plage, pour le coucher du soleil ou le lever du soleil, ou encore pour courir avec le soleil sur votre visage. Dans la maison, vous avez : tout. Tout ce dont vous pourriez avoir besoin est ici, dans un confort parfait. Pour les personnes qui aiment les grandes tablées pour déjeuner, la cuisine est parfaite, grande, pratique et ouverte sur le bois. Le salon et salle à manger sont assez spacieux pour rassembler tout le monde et passer de beau moments tous ensemble. Les espaces extérieurs sont tout aussi magiques, vous avez les pieds dans le sable, vous allongez et écouter les oiseaux, un barbecue avec des amis pour dîner, profitez de la terrasse ensoleillée pour lire un livre. J'ai passé un moment très agréable dans cette maison ! Vivement que j'y retourne au plus vite !

Sans oublier les villes de la Rochelle et les Sables d'Olonnes tout à côté ! Sorties, restaurants, shopping assurés !

Without forgetting the two closest cities La Rochelle and les Sables d'Olonnes in wich you have activities, good restaurants, shopping places !

Modern Secluded Luxury Break

My family had a wonderful time last year, visiting this large contemporary villa tucked in a secluded spot right behind the beach. Getting away from it all and having driven from the U.K we found the area to be naturally beautiful, great for the stunning expansive sandy beach, but only a roughly 50 minute drive to La Rochelle (with a wide selection of shops and restaurants). The facilities of the villa were excellent and breakfast's on the 1st floor terrace were divine! We thoroughly recommend this villa for a family friendly get-away and (for us) only 6.5 hours drive from Calais! 5 stars!!

Owner's Response: We are Delighted that you enjoyed your holiday so much at the beach villa. We spent a lot of time and thought in building and furnishing the house to a high standard. It is ideal for one or two families or a group of friends. Everyone loves the tranquil atmosphere and cooling breeze through the pines. Walks on the beach in the early morning or bike rides through the forest are beautiful and relaxing. There are a variety of local restaurants and for foodies a Michelin 2 star in La Rochelle and a one star 30 mins away in Chateau D'Olonne.

From the Owner

We immediately fell in love with the naturally beautiful location when we first visited in August 2010. Positioned in the shade of pine woods, protected by sand dunes and a short 75 metre walk to the magnificent beach it was easy to imagine a modern, contemporary beach house which was completed to our design in May 2013. We think our location is wonderful, because it is has beautiful natural surroundings and you can hear the surf and smell the sea! We have great pleasure in walking the beaches and forest, and cycling in the surrounding countryside and coastal routes. Although in a tranquil spot it is a short drive to the bustling towns of La Tranche and Sables D'Olonne

We love the tranquillity of the location, the house is secluded but with great views through the pines to the dunes and the sea beyond. There are no houses similar to this in the area, very contemporary with bedrooms on the ground floor and living accommodation upstairs. The veranda surrounds the south facing aspect so you can enjoy the sun from morning to evening. the bedrooms and living areas are extremely spacious, light and airy

  • Outside: The house was designed to bring the garden inside. The glass edged veranda, on the first floor sweeps around the house giving views of dunes, sea and woodland with privacy. It extends from a breakfast area facing East, a sun terrace to the South, with some shade and finally looking to the West a chance to enjoy the sunsets with a drink in hand! The plot is 1800 sq metres and contains a sunken BBQ, fire pit, a heated 6M*3.5M pool, jacuzzi, a garage/utility area and table tennis. There is an elevated cool shady area in the pines, a belvedere perfect for chilling out in absolute privacy. A pathway leads through the pines at the front of the house to a gate which is 75 metres from the beach. There is parking for three cars next to the garage with plenty of extra space in the sandy lane that runs to the beach. Utility Room: washing machine, dryer, butler sink, ironing board, iron Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Included in rental: bed linen+1 hand towel+1 bath towel & 1 beach towel(per person) provided weekly. House cleaned before rental. Please leave as found Not included: cleaner will change bed linen on all beds and clean house after one week for E60(3hrs) Other: Dining room/sitting room is 27 sq metres and faces West.
