This early 19th century, traditional Welsh stone town-house has period features such as slate flooring, original oak beam over an inglenook-hearth and Victorian iron-work fireplaces, and provides comfort and space for family members of all ages or groups seeking a tranquil, relaxed stay. The house is in the old part of Cardigan; a bustling, historical Welsh market-town. You can walk to shops, cafes, restaurants and stalls selling local produce, or visit cultural events, art galleries, theatre/cinema. Walk to the Wildlife Reserve or the coastal path, which is on the Heritage coastline with its protected, marine observation area. The nearby coast is unsurpassed and is a bird-watchers and water-sports haven. There are many superb beaches close by as well as interesting Celtic sites to visit eg Iron Age Settlement, burial chambers, Saints and Stones tour, St Davids Cathedral etc. Beautiful countryside for pony-trekking and nearby golf. Notes on accommodation: One dog is allowed, downstairs only. We welcome children and have their safety in mind but please be advised that the tenant(s) are responsible for their safety.This is a NON SMOKING house. The upstairs has white carpets and we would appreciate it if shoes, food and drink etc. remain downstairs! You may borrow the beach chairs but please bring your own beach towels. The local managers are on call should you have any question/problem. Outside: The house is in a quiet street with NO GARDEN but there is parking and a green space nearby. The shops and paths are in walking distance. Beaches are a short drive away. Utility Room: Washing-machine/tumble drier. Clothes-airers, iron and board Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All bed-linen and towels provided (NOT BEACH TOWELS). Professional, local management and cleaning done at each changeover. Wonderful stay in the cottage

We spent a terrific week in and around the cottage in Cardigan. Our three children adored the billiard table and the space the cottage offered. Everything was to our full satisfaction. Kitchen was well equiped.

We especially recommend to make use of the numerous possibilities of the Cardigan area for nature lovers, hikers, dolphin spotters etc.

Beach day at Mwnt was extraordinary....

The town of Cardigan offers everything you may need. Excellent pizza at the fforest (riverside).

Lovely Welsh house great for a group/ large family.

Lovely Welsh house with an interesting history.

Very will equipped with anything you would need (and more) for a holiday, including safety equipment for little ones if you needed it and things to do on a rainy day.

Very thick walls so hampers phone/ internet reception, quite amusing watching people stand in odd places to get a reception though :) also means that you can get away from it all.

Stayed with a party of 8 in August and plenty of room for everyone.

2 of the mattress's are futon so quite firm, and therefore may not be to everyone's preference, others are apparently comfortable!

Town its self is nice and a good base to explore nearby beaches, scenary is stunning. Yum Yums sweet shop was a big hit with us too.

Local beaches are simply beautiful, local people that we spoke with all very friendly and helpful.

Owner very accommodating.

Would recommend.

Unique historic property in need of some TLC

My family of 6 adults recently spent 4 nights in this unique home. It is full of character and located in an ideal location for walking into town. We were attending a wedding in Cardigan, and were able to walk to the wedding and back home from the reception. Since parking is down an alley from the house, we were happy to have the option of walking. Driving our mini bus to the parking lot through the alleyway was a little challenging.

Even though there are only 1.5 baths, we were able to rotate our shower times to accommodate everyone, and we never ran out of hot water. The only criticism I have is that the home needs a really good cleaning......a big dose of TLC. There were cobwebs over all the light fixtures, and in many of the rooms. The kitchen counter had coffee grounds (or tea leaves..... couldn't tell which) all across the counter, and the tea kettle still had water in it. The floors, too, needed a good scrubbing.

All in all, though, the home can't be beat for it's location to town. The owner was very responsive and helpful when we needed it. We enjoyed out time there.

Lovely Spacious cottage

We stayed for a weekend at this cottage. We were 2 couples each with 2 young children and we had lots of space. We had the top floor with 2 bedrooms - 1 with double bed and the second one with 3 beds - perfect for the kids. Our friends had the middle floor with 2 bedrooms and a lounge and bathroom. There were stair gates at the property which were easily installed to keep the kids on the right floor!. Ground floor had the kitchen, dining room, playroom, toilet and laundry, All in all very spacious, well equipped, lots of interesting books and very comfortable and clean.

There is a small pub next door - but quiet and not very busy so we did not hear it. There is a small public parking place 2 mins around the corner near the river which is perfect. Cardigan is lovely town with lots of shops and restaurants and there are lots of amazing beaches nearby.

All arrangements and communications with the owner were organised and friendly. Happy to recommend this as a place to stay.

Spacious house in good central location

House was large enough and well equipt for two families staying. The immediate area is stunning , walking distance to a wildlife centre and a short drive to the coast.

The Amenities in Cardigan were all a short walk away, with the pub next door being very hospitable and a great Pizza restaurant just down the river.

Location

Coast/Beach:

2 miles from popular Blue Flag Poppit Beach - very safe for families of all ages, good beach-side cafe, shallow, generally calm waters. Lovely bay. Lifeguards and limited dog access in Summer. Car park.

3 miles to National Trust beach at Mwnt. Car park, small cafe, beautiful small bay, church, coastal path, dolphin watch area.

Many NT and Blue Flag beaches all along the West Welsh coast.

Recommended by National Geographic Traveller as "The second best coastal destination in the world" (2012)

Travel:

Nearest airports are Manchester or Cardiff. Nearest train station: Aberystwyth, Carmarthen or Fishguard. CAR NECESSARY (although it would be possible to have a 'Green' holiday using taxi service, special Green buses, cycle hire and walking.)

Distances:

Easy walking distance of Cardigan town centre. Other towns, villages or special sites are touring distance by car.

Short car drive to beaches.

Further Details:

Cardigan is between Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire, with easy access to Cardigan Bay, Brecon Beacons, Pembrokeshire National Coastal Park. A few hours drive will get you to Snowdonia and North Wales. Mid-Wales is also accessible and very beautiful. Cycling, rambling, food festivals, music festivals and many cultural events occur throughout Wales and there are a host of tourist activities available. There are tourist leaflets in the holiday house

There is a Tourist Information office in Cardigan Theater Centre.
