Lovely spacious house in good location

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time staying in this house. It was perfect for us and we enjoyed having all the space for the children and each room having ensuite facilities. The location in the centre of town was appreciated, especially for a winter break. Children even enjoyed going out for a seafront run each morning. The presence of the lighthouse next door added to the excitement. We hope to return soon. Thanks for having us.

Owner's Response: Dear Alex, Yor comments are greatly appreciated and thank you for taking the time to post a review. The location of Sole Rose is ideal - being able to access all the major attractions of the town, pubs, restaurants and the beach in no more than a 5 minute walk in either direction; yet the property sits quietly tucked down a small side street. The novelty of a lighthouse at the end of the garden does seem to appeal to all ages too! We do hope you do decide to visit Sole Rose again sometime soon and once again, thank you for your lovely review. Lori and Mark (Owners)

Many thanks for our stay in Sole Rose. Too short!! Sole Rose is

perfect. The interior design really impressed my partner Annie, who

could have stayed there indefinitely. Your house is a winner and is

a credit to you.

This was a beautiful well appointed house in a great position for exploring Southwold. Only grumble is that we ran out of hot water for showers rather quickly. It would also have been useful to know that everything shuts at 9.00'on a Friday night - we arrived late and couldn't find anywhere to eat. Also if just staying for a weekend it would be nice not to have to leave by 10.00 on departure day- just a couple of hours would make a difference. However a lovely place- we would definitely stay again.

Owner's Response: Thank you very much for taking the time to comment on Sole Rose. I will have a word with the plumber to see whether anything can be done to adjust the boiler enabling more hot water but this has never been a problem in the past. Thank you for pointing out that most restaurants/pubs stop serving at around 9.00 pm, this is very useful advice to pass on to other guests also arriving late on a Friday. Regarding the departure time at 10.00 am, I am afraid this is quite a normal time to vacate a property, allowing the housekeeper to prepare the house fully for the guests arriving later in the day. I do hope you do decide to visit Sole Rose again and if so, I will check to see whether any guests are arriving the same day and perhaps there could be some flexibility as to your departure time. Kindest regards, Lori

Fabulous weekend

  • 5 of 5

I stayed at 'Sole Rose' last week with four friends. What a fantastic weekend we had at this beautiful house. It was immaculately presented throughout, the bedrooms & bathrooms where wonderful with lovely linens. It is also in the perfect location for the shops, pubs, beach & pier. We are already planning our return and would highly recommend this to everyone, you will not be disappointed!

Owner's Response: Dear Helen - thank you very much indeed for your kind review! So delighted Sole Rose helped to make your stay as perfect as possible. We aim to give our guests a 'home from home' environment in order to make their stay as comfortable as possible so it is fantastic to know that we are on the right track! There is no better recommendation than a repeat booking so again, thank you for booking again this coming Summer. Best wishes, Lori

From the Owner

My friend introduced me to Southwold 12 years ago and from that point forward, I was completely smitten. I had never been to such an unspoilt, charming and delightful seaside town as Southwold. Only a two and a half hour car journey from London to Southwold has been perfect to leave the city-life behind and head for this idyllic unspoilt seaside. Over the years our daughters have spent hours building sandcastles, crabbing at the harbour, taking the charming "foot ferry" to Walberswick and simply enjoying the freedom of walking to the sweet shop, boating lake and pier - a far cry from life in the city. We hope you enjoy the treasures this special place has to offer as we have over the years.

Further Details:

Southwold is a great place to visit anytime of the year. Everytime a corner is turned, one of its nine greens or the common, the seafront or iconic buildings can be discovered. The colourful beach-huts and kiosks line the promenade and the pier, boating lake and small fun golf course delight all ages. The pier clock is definitely different and must be seen! Venturing the opposite direction, the busy harbour can be reached where fish and chips, a smoker and fresh fish stalls can be found as well as a great pub and cafe. This trip makes a lovely little cycle ride especially with the children - also the perfect location for "crabbing"! If walking, take the quaint foot ferry (which also carries dogs and cycles) across to Walberswick - a charming little village with boutique shops, cafes and pubs. Returning back to Southwold, the Electric Picture Palace Cinema can be found on Blackmill Road (early booking is recommended), completed in 2002 and so authentic! Take a visit to Gun Hill where six canons are sited pointing out to the sea or visit the Sailors' Reading Room - yet another fascinating place. The lighthouse built in 1890 stands majestically at 31m high and is still in operation. Yet another famous attraction is Adnams Brewery and tours can be booked to actually visit the working brewery. There is always the Southwold Tourist Information Office to help you book the circus, theatre or suggest other highlights Southwold has to offer.

From the Owner

Sole Rose is perfectly placed to walk to the High Street, the beach, the promenade, the pier, the harbour and the common and even the cinema! This makes a Southwold holiday rather special, stress-free and unique as once the car is parked, it isn't needed again. In Southwold there is something for everybody of all ages. Time just doesn't seem important in Southwold, a magical place where a holiday truly can be relaxing..........
