About the Owner

Having owned language Schools in the UK teaching English to foreign students for 30+ years, I retired in 2006. We now spend a lot of the Winter in St Jeannet enjoying the scenery, the climate and the relaxing lifestyle. Whilst in St Jeannet we like skiing at Auron, golf at Biot, horseracing at Cagnes and watching Nice play football at the new Allianz stadium. In the Summer we stay in Dorest on the South Coast of England and rent out our villa so that others can enjoy this lovely part of the world (and also the rental income helps pay the bills!) We purchased the property in 2001

Guestbook comments from the owner

"The villa is situated in a quiet oasis above the coast. The lovely old village centre of st Jeannet is only about a ten minute walk. As the villa is at about 450 Metres above sea level, the views are spectacular. The villa is exactly as described on the booking website and we were very comfortable there. A car is necessary as there are so many picturesque villages to visit , Gourdon, St Paul, but, Vence etc. But if you are lazy, the villa faces south and gets sun all day so it is ideal to simply sunbathe. All in all, I would have no hesitation in recommending this villa for a relaxing holiday ! " JANETTE (Dutch) 2012

We had a wonderful holiday in St Jeannet last June and would love to return again this year. The location was just what we wanted; a typical French hilltop village about 1 km away BUT also the cosmopolitan Riviera attractions an easy drive. So we were able to stay in the villa when we just wanted to relax by the pool, drink some wine and play boule .." OSWALD(UK) 2008

Ultimate peace and tranquility with stunning view

  • 5 of 5

This private villa is located high in the hills, providing a wonderful vista of the sea and coastline, It is the perfect place to relax and unwind with plenty of places to walk or trek. St. Jeannet is a delightful little village that has retained its authenticity and history with some superb places to dine out. If you hire a car, it is easily and quickly accessible from Nice airport and is conveniently located to explore other main towns and cities of the Cote d'Azur. The villa itself is beautifully laid out and well equipped, especially if you like reading! I highly recommend this villa to all holidaymakers.

Peaceful lovely location above the Cote d'Azur

  • 5 of 5

We wanted somewhere that was secluded and peaceful but with a choice of places we could visit if we wanted to go out. Villa Hardy met all our expectations. Because it was sunny all the time, we stayed outside mostly but there was a satellite TV, wifi and Dvds if the weather was bad.The local village was only a 15 minute walk away and directly behind the villa was the "baou". It took us over an hour to walk UP but there were wonderful views at the top. St Jeannet is a really typical old French hill village without mass tourism although it is only a few kms from Nice, Antibes, St Paul etc. The pool and lawn at the villa was great and we also liked the boule court as the sun declined with a glass of wine. The property was exactly as described on the website. The booking procedure was very simple and the owner gave us lots of suggestions for visits and restaurants. Our recommendations--

Best villages -- Gourdon and Tourettes sur Loup

Italian market and scenery---Bordighera not Ventimilia

Local food -- either La Gaudriole or Guenguette (check my spelling) in nearby La Gaude. Both don't take cards--but the owners are locals not Greek!

I will be recommending to our friends.

From the Owner

Lovely views, not too many tourists in the village, lots to see and do within a 45 minute drive. There are not many places in Europe where you can be on the beach in 30 minutes and skiing in an hour! The property is also secluded and an ideal place to relax with lots of walking (and cycling) trails nearby. The walk up the St Jeannet baou takes about an hour but the view is well worth it ---- on a clear day, you may even see Corsica. Although St jeannet is very quiet and rustic, the bustle of Nice and Antibes is under 30 minutes drive away (Cannes, Monaco and Menton are a bit further). In the villa, you find a selection of books and DVDs plus satellite TV and wifi in the unlikely event of bad weather.there is a folder in the villa with our suggestions for day trips, shopping, markets, restaurants etc..

From the bottom of the hill, there is a bus service to Nice and Grasse. From Nice airport, it takes about 25 minutes to reach Villa Hardy by car.
