This beautiful cottage is detached with its own car park, separate access and set in its own grounds, providing the guests with complete privacy. It has recently been renovated to a high standard and great care and attention has been taken with the décor and furnishings to provide guests with comfort and serenity. The Cottage is fully equipped, including Wi-Fi internet, I-pod docking station, UK TV and a selection of books, puzzles and games. It is ideally situated for lovers of nature and if you enjoy a spot of fishing – then this is the place for you, as the River Auvezere is at the bottom of the garden. The two bedrooms on the first floor are both twin bedrooms and have access to the balcony which overlooks the garden where you can enjoy your morning coffee. Alongside the cottage there is a covered patio area with table, chairs,sun loungers and a barbecue. For something a bit more energetic there is a badminton area.

What a wonderful place.

We spent a wonderful week in this lovely gite, and wish we had stayed for longer. On arrival, as we walked through the gate and down the steps we were greeted by an amazing view down the generous sloping garden towards the trees, which cocoon the gite and provide complete privacy and tranquility. The house itself is very clean, well equipped and has a real homely feel. Although there is plenty to see and do in the surrounding area, we spent a few afternoons relaxing in the garden, followed by an evening BBQ. We sat on the terrace enjoying the distant sound of the babbling river at the bottom of the garden and the gentle rustling of the leaves until the stars came out. Gordon and Marie, thank you for being the perfect hosts. We shall cherish our memories of our stay with you,

Relaxing retreat

We arrived at approx 8pm to be met by Marie who showed us around and welcomed us with a bottle of wine, cheese, milk, tea coffee and bottled water. How lovely this was after a long journey. As we thought we would to the village restaurant for a meal she told us the locals were having a molues and frites evening in the village which really appealed. Very kindly she drove us there (5 mins in car ). This was only the start of excellent customer service during our weeks stay. The gite was clean very well equipped and so homely. Beautiful, peaceful rural setting for those wanting to completely relax and unwind. The owners Gordon and Marie had provided us with great information on local attractions and we were not disappointed. Only problem being that a week is not enough to see all the beautiful places in that area of France. Would definitely recommend this property to friends and family and would love to revisit. Thank you so much for making our week truly a lovely experience. Linda and Steve.

At the nearby Lake Rouffiac (7 minutes drive away), swimming and additional water sports including Tele Ski, Canoes and Pedalos are available, along with a beautiful sandy beach, bar and restaurant.

The property is located an hours drive from Limoges Airport with cheap flights operating with RyanAir from East Midlands, Stansted, Liverpool and Nottingham airports to Limoges daily. Flybe flies from Southampton to Limoges Airport.

Brive Airport (50 minutes drive away)

The property is approximately 8 hours drive from all the major French ferry ports.


The Cottage is within easy walking distance is the historic village of Payzac.

5mins to the River Auvezere. The Medieval village of Segur le Chateau is a 15min drive. The magnificent 'Chateau Hautefort' is 20 mins drive. A variety of large supermarkets, restaurants and shops can be found in St Yrieix La Perche (20 minutes by car). The cities of Limoges and Perigueux are an hour away. Wedding venues of Chateau Durantie and d'Essendieras are only a 15min drive away..

There are many activities in the area including : horse riding, canoeing, cycling, walking, river and lake fishing. There are also a number of golf courses to be found in the area, most within an hours drive.

Pompadour with its magnificent chateau is a 15 minute drive. It is also home to the national centre for horses including a national stud, show jumping, dressage and horse racing on its superb race track. There are numerous restaurants in the area offering the delights of the region – famous for its duck produce, foie gras and truffles.

The kitchen is fully equipped with a full size gas hob /oven, full size fridge/freezer, washing machine, microwave and breakfast bar The shower room is also on this level and furnished with a spa/power shower. wc and heated towel rail. There are uninterrupted views of the garden from all the windows. On the first floor there are two bedrooms, both of which have twin beds and patio doors leading onto the balcony, which overlooks the garden. A perfect place for breakfast, or a morning coffee and croissant. (wild boar and deer have been seen on occasions) or spend an evening with a glass of wine, stargazing (there is no light pollution here). Outside: This property is set in over 4 acres of meadow and woodland with the river Auvézère at the bottom of the garden. A 3mtrs diameter Plunge Pool is available for the sole use of guests, perfect for cooling down on a hot day. Alongside the cottage there is a covered patio area with table, chairs, sun loungers and a barbecue. In the lower part of the garden hammocks have been provided to while away those lazy afternoons. For something a bit more energetic there is a badminton area. Utility Room: Clothes dryer, cooker, microwave, fridge, freezer, washing machine, iron & ironing board, hairdryer. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All linen and towels with the exception of beach towels are provided free of charge.
